New Welcome Sign to Maleny
The Sunshine Coast Council is to locate a new welcome sign soon to greet motorists visiting Maleny. It will be located near the intersection of Landsborough Road and McCarthys Road. . Much thought has been given to the custom design for the sign, ensuring it reflects the features of our town, including:
A weathered steel sign that incorporates a silhouette of the Glass House Mountains, as viewed from Mountain View Road.
Timber pillars that celebrate the original forested vegetation of the Maleny plateau.
Locally sourced basalt stone cladding reflecting the geology of the range, and landscaping that includes locally occurring plant species.
A planting area at the base of the sign, in keeping with the lush surrounds.
Works are scheduled to start on August 1st, 2023, and be completed by mid-September, weather and site conditions permitting.
When is a “Burger not a Burger”?
Australia is about to join the emerging lab-grown meat industry, which so far has been dominated by food-tech start-ups in Europe, Israel and California's Silicon Valley. There is a plan to have cultured meat on Australian shelves as soon as 2024 and this is close to becoming a reality. Australia's first application to sell cultured meat is from cell-based meat. This is not the same as plant-based meat which is produced from plant sources such as soy, pea, fungi, wheat and rice. Initially it is expected that cultured meat patties suitable for burgers will initially sell for $5 to $6. The same technology will lead to a cell-based pork and lamb meat substitute.

Why you need an Air Purifier in Australia
Air pollution is a pressing global issue, including here in Australia and it's not limited to the outdoors. The EPA states that indoor air can be 2-5 times more polluted than outdoor air. Air purifiers help combat this by filtering out pollutants, allergens, and other harmful particles, creating a cleaner and healthier environment both at home and at work.
Air purifiers eliminate common allergens like dust, pollen, and pet dander, which are typical triggers for allergy flair-ups.
Air purifiers can help minimise the spread of airborne illnesses by capturing bacteria, viruses, and other pathogens.
