MALLING LIVING MALLING LIVING Is an interior design company based near Aarhus, Denmark. A sincere passion for timeless and durable design in high quality was the cornerstones in the foundation of MALLING LIVING back in 2013. We find inspiration in graphic lines, classic design, and Nordic-inspired interior. We strive towards creating high quality furniture and accessories that fit effortlessly into any home and interior style – and both private and public environments. Our aim is for each product to carry a host of applications and that they should be able to tolerate excessive use – an aim that stems from MALLING LIVING’s roots in the hospitality industry, in which the use of durable materials is paramount.
THE DESIGNER BEHIND Rikke Malling is the owner and designer behind MALLING LIVING, but she also has a background as restaurant owner and is educated sommelier. In 2005, she and her husband, Thorsten Schmidt, opened the gourmet restaurant, Malling & Schmidt, which they ran for a decade. In 2007, they expanded and opened their second restaurant, Nordisk Spisehus.
Coming from a family of architects, Rikke Malling has always had a great fondness of interior design, and since the opening of the two restaurants, she has styled, designed and produced most of the interior of the restaurants to ensure that the overall expression was exactly like she wanted. It was this drive and passion that led to the foundation of MALLING LIVING in 2013. Today, MALLING LIVING has retailers all over Europe as well as its own webshop and combined shop/showroom.
CLOTHES RACK MALLING LIVING’s popular Clothes Rack comes in white and black, the latter in two different sizes. Despite its simple and graphic design, Clothes Rack is a very stable piece of furniture regardless of the amount of clothes hanging on it, thereby making it the ideal wardrobe solution suitable for both private and public environments.
RAW VASE The vases come in two sizes and two timeless nuances – a soft white and a dark muted grey. The cylindrical, organic silhouette with the small opening in the top makes the vase ideal for a single flower or a decorative branch or straw for a modern look. The surface has a stunning raw texture. Use them individually or place them in pairs.
EDGE CANDLE HOLDER, CHROME The Edge Candle Holder has a clean minimalistic look with a shiny chrome finish. The polished surface reflects the surrounding objects, making the candle holder’s overall expression very place specific. Place it on its own, group it with other Edge candle holders or mix it with natural materials in a well-balanced still life.
SOAPSTONE BOWLS Soapstone is a set of three bowls in varying sizes. Each bowl has its own set of applications, but put together they make a rustic and untraditional set of tableware. Mix the bowls with porcelain plates to create a modern and contrasted table setting. With their grey-black colour play, the bowls compliment food dishes beautifully and will surely impress your guests. The bowls are also ideal as decorative objects in your home. Use them in a stunning still life, for your favourite jewellery on the night stand, for soap bars in the bathroom or for keys and coins in the hallway.
