Niipu-niipu Wama, Morton Park, SA
This beauty in Adelaide’s South is a partnership between City of Onkaparinga and the Roger Rasheed Sports Foundation and helps deliver a much needed and long anticipated transformation of Morton Reserve in Christie Downs into a sports and recreation hub. Formally named in October 2021 following community consultation, the Aboriginal name ‘Niipu-niipu Wama’ means ‘friendship park’ in the Kaurna language. This park includes both junior and youth play spaces, exercise area, half court basket ball court and a skate park and bowl.

This project is all about community and the opportunity to make a real difference to society’s most vulnerable members. It will also serve as the new home for the Roger Rasheed Sports Foundation’s free coaching and mentoring programs for disadvantaged youth, which will help to shape the lives of hundreds of children a year. Bravo Onkaparinga!
