fab famIly fun The school holidays may be over and lunchbox Mama back on duty but that doesn’t mean the fun has to stop! Brisbane has so many wonderful activities, events and adventures to keep your free time fun filled right through to the next school holidays!! Here are some of Mama’s favourites.

1. Frozen The Musical - QPAC From Thursday 10 Feb. From the producers of Aladdin, The Lion King and Mary Poppins, Disney’s new hit musical opens at the Lyric Theatre, QPAC this February. Adapted from the Oscar-winning film, Frozen is an inspiring tale of sisterhood and true love, that comes to life with gorgeous sets and costumes as well as sensational special effects. This is 2022’s must see show!

2. BrisAsia 1st-20 Feb. Free. Get excited because Brisbane’s biggest cultural event, BrisAsia Festival, returns with a packed program of events to celebrate the Lunar New Year. This year’s enhanced offering features more than 50 events across 10 suburbs that fuse Asian art, culture and cuisine with live performances by internationally acclaimed artists, outdoor festivities, and intimate cultural encounters.

3. World Science Festival - Night Walk Sat 12 Mar, 5pm-7:30pm. Brisbane Botanic Gardens, Mt Coot-tha, 152 Mt Coot-tha Road, Toowong. Ages 8+. Free. A guided night-walk with staff from Brisbane City Council’s Environment Centres gives your family the opportunity to discover the sights and sounds of the Botanic Gardens after dark. Children will have an opportunity to meet some native wildlife while learning about the incredible native fauna in Australia’s most biodiverse city. You’ll need good footwear and remember to take a small hand-held torch and your insect repellent! 10

4. KineticKids Multi-sports and Mindfulness - Thu 10 Feb, 3:30pm-4:30pm. Ages 5-10. Free. Head to the playground at O’Callaghan Park and learn multi sports skills whilst also experiencing age appropriate mindfulness activities that will relax an active mind and body. This will be a fun class with heaps of active games and challenges.

5. Wheely Fun - Sat 12 Feb, 8-9am. Hutchinson Park, 77 Friday Street, Shorncliffe. Ages 5-7. Free. Riding a bike is more fun on two wheels and at this 1hr session will make it happen! That’s right, in just one session a friendly trainer will help your little one make the transition from training wheels to two wheels, and provide some awesome tips for you to keep encouraging them. Presented as part of Council’s Cycling Brisbane program this will be an incredible kick start for all those bike loving kids out there.

6. PAW Patrol Live! “The Great Pirate Adventure!” Presented by Paramount+ - Brisbane Entertainment Centre, 7 and 8 May. Tickets start at $29. It’s time to get your tickets before they sell out!! PAW Patrol Live! “The Great Pirate Adventure” Presented by Paramount+, is coming to Brisbane and as always a big adventure is on the cards! Don’t miss this one Mama’s, tickets will sell fast!

7. Teeny Tiny Stevies - Brisbane Powerhouse 2 April 10.30am and 1.30pm. Tickets $40. Teeny Tiny Stevies released their third studio album into the world from inside the Melbourne lockdown of 2020. Thoughtful Songs For Little People won Best Children’s Album in the 2020 ARIA Awards, and you can get inside the music in this wonderful show!
