ABOUT US: Rotaract Club of Capital City New Delhi (RCCND) is a community based Rotaract Club under RID 3012 established with an aim to continuously undertake social projects in order to help the underprivileged. Established 5 years ago, the club has gained a number of achievements indicating the activeness and zeal of its members. i) The Club Received Platinum Club Status by RID 3012 and Rotary International. ii) Best Community Club in Zone-3, year 2018-19. iii) Many members awarded by Rotaract District Organization and are currently working with them. Through the years since the inception, RCCND has undertaken many projects/events in different avenues to address all that was needed to be brought to limelight.

RYLA

ROTARY YOUTH LEADERSHIP AWARDS (RYLA) Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is an annual award meet wherein Rotaractors from across the country come together. RYLA 2020 was held at OP Jindal Global University, Sonipat. It was attended by over 700 Rylarians which was chaired by Rtr. Uday Maheshwari, Sergeant At Arms, RCCND.

Day 1 began with the registration process followed by the opening ceremony during which the ambitious Project of RCCND - Veerangana was presented. After the formal address of dignitaries, the event kicked off with Round 1 of Mr. and Miss RYLA. A standup comedy by Gaurav Gupta followed by Intercultural night added more delight. 2.


Club Project Veerangna was initiated to empower the acid attack survivors and to lift them. A teaser of the project was showcased at the first day RYLA so that people can know about the hardships faced by acid attack survivors. Ritu Saini and Anshu Rajput, both being members of Sheroes hangout as well as Chhanv Foundation and active Campaigners of Stop Acid Attack were also present. They shared their personal experiences and how Rotaract Club of Capital City, New Delhi along with the Rotary Club Capital City, New Delhi is helping the survivors in various aspects. Rotary as well as the Rotaract Club New Delhi were appreciated by the District Governor, District Rotaract Organisation as well as by all the attendees for their contribution. 3.


Day-2 commenced with the sports activities in which club members participated with full vigor. The day proceeded with various informatory sessions and camps by PCTI and OP Jindal University. In the evening, there was a group dance face-off in which our club members participated.

Day-3 was the concluding day in which a glimpse of RYLA was shown to all the attendees and various awards were distributed. Rtr. Vipul Maheshwari, Rtr. Uday Maheshwari, Rtr. Ayush Vij, Rtr. Parul Dua, Rtr. Manisha Jain, Rtr. Radhika Khemka, Rtr. Kritika Goel, Rtr. Tanay Maheshwari and Rtr. Nitin Dhar were felicitated for being a part of RYLA Organising Committee. DRR Special Recognition was given to Rtr. Uday Maheshwari, Rtr. Nitin Dhar, Rtr.Manisha Jain for their contribution towards making RYLA a huge success. Paul Harris Fellowship were bestowed upon Rtr. Vipul Maheshwari, Rtr. Uday Maheshwari and Rtr. Nitin Dhar by the District Governor. 4.


DELHI DARSHAN & LETTERHEAD EXCHANGE As part of Delhi Darshan, RCCND also got an opportunity to host Rotaractors under the InterDistrict Youth Exchange Program. The hosting covered a heritage walk to Old Delhi which was guided and highlighted by Nishta Joshi. Also, our guests tried the famous dishes of Chandni Chowk, from chaat to the famous Jalebi Joint. Furthermore, we did Letterhead Exchanges.

REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATION

Our club celebrated 71st Republic Day with ‘RC Physiotherapy Scholars’ and ‘Step Up for Students’ at our adopted Jhilmil Slum where the children took part in the Drawing Competition themed India and a quiz too was held. We distributed chocolates and biscuits to the children.

INTERACTIVE SESSION AT SHEROES

For the second upcoming event of Project Veerangna, we volunteered at Sheroes Home at 27 January, 2020. We had a great interactive session where we discussed mental health and other social issues with the Guest Speaker Miss Ash Tooray and Alok Dixit. The event proceeded in the presence of Ritu Saini, Nirupama and other acid attack survivors. Also, Rotaract Club of VIAS and OBS had joined this session. The importance of self-love, happiness and other factors related to mental health were discussed and also, our ongoing Project Veerangna’s objectives were emphasised. 8.


WATER CONSERVATION SESSION

We organised a Water Conservation Session at Nirbhed Foundation, Indirapuram on 23rd February 2020. Rtr. Ashish Paliwal and Rtr. Jatin Vats enlightened the kids about the best practices to conserve water. The session was sponsored with 200 steel bottles by One Plus Red Cable.

GULAAL

The club along with Zone-4, Rotaract District 3012 celebrated Holi 2020 ‘Gulaal’ with kids of Empowering Mind Centre. The celebration consisted of playing with gulaal and distribution of sweets. The kids participated wholeheartedly which made the event more wholesome. 9.


PROJECT SANGIENE

#MyUnderstandingOfPeriods Our club gladly announced ‘My Understanding of Periods’, a campaign under Project Sangiene where we had asked our male counterparts to share their knowledge about periods by uploading a piece of content. They shared their experience about the first time they came to know about periods and how did they discuss it among their family or friends.

SESSION - 1

On 11th January, 2020, we conducted the first session of ‘Sangiene’ at Nirbhed Foundation, Indirapuram about mensuration, hygiene and related information. It was an interactive session where the girls could finally ask questions without any hesitation. Sanitary pads were distributed for comfort and as a keepsake of the drive.

SESSION - 2

Session 2 of Project Sangiene was held at Nirbhed Foundation Indirapuram on 1st February 2020. It was an interactive session with 21 girls which focused on myths and other factors revolving around periods, importance of body hair. The session also encouraged young girls to speak about periods and break the taboo. 11.


SESSION - 3

On 15 February 2020, we organised a session on Menstrual Hygiene at Nirbhed Foundation, Indrapuram. Besides discussing the list of various food items that are effective in reducing the pain, we tried to break the taboo through role play. It helped them develop a strong approach in dealing with real life situations.

SESSION - 4

An awareness session at Nirbhed Foundation, Indirapuram, was conducted where we discussed menstruation and various knick-knacks associated with it. This session was organised on International Women’s Day, 8th March. which made it all the more special. The importance of sanitation and hygienewas emphasized upon and the session was concluded with distribution of sanitary napkins. 12.


PROJECT JHILMIL

We, along with other clubs of Zone 4, adopted Jhilmil slum area for the purpose of educating the slum children under Project Jhilmil. The project kick started on 1st September, 2019 and so far it has covered 21 sessions. The objective of the project is to impart knowledge to children along with providing them other stationary and books.

THE VIBE TRIBE

Rotaract Club of Capital City New Delhi initiated an online project The Vibe Tribe with Rotaract club of Outstanding Business Students to spread ‘love and light’. This project is undertaken with the purpose of motivating people across as to ‘how to plan their day’ productively. This motivates them to make a plan and also implement themselves in few activities that they haven’t been wanting to. This work towards positive well being covering aspects of emotional, mental, physical and spiritual well being with a long term vision.

HEALTH CHECK-UP CAMPS

Logic Mall, Noida

Mayur Vihar, Phase-2

In collaboration with Max Hospital Patparganj, Rotaract Club of Capital City New Delhi organised a free health camp at Logic Mall, Noida on January 11, 2020 & Mayur Vihar, Phase-2 on January 12, 2020. It provided free Preventive Health Check-ups which was followed by Nukkad Natak for BLS awareness. 18.


MEGA HEALTH MELA

On 2nd February, we organised a health checkup at AVB Public School in collaboration with Max Hospital Patparganj & Rotaract Club of Outstanding Business Students. The camp was followed with interactive sessions with specialists along with Zumba and Yoga sessions.

ROTARACT CRICKET LEAGUE 2020

Rotaract Cricket League 2020 went down to the wire on the 29th February & 1st March. RCCND, who marched it’s way into the finals showed some great fight and ended finishing up as the Runners Up of the Cricket league. The players displayed fantastic sportsmanship spirit on the field and were given certificates and trophy for their play. We also thank the District and ZRR Dhruv for inviting us for the league.

DISTRICT HOLI PARTY

We attended District Holi party on 8th March 2020 at Rotary Habitat Centre, Saket. The onset of festivities offered a great opportunity for bonding. In the event, Rtr. Uday Maheshwari was announced as the Joint DRS and Rtr. Manisha Jain as the Director of Creatives. The experience we had was one of a kind! 21.

FIGHT AGAINST CORONA Due to the shattering done by COVID-19, there is no source for several families to have their essential needs as the government have imposed several measures to make everyone remain indoors for controlling the out-spread of the alarming Coronavirus. The Club had raised and donated funds to three different on-going projects which are working to support the underprivileged by distributing monthly rations to impoverished families. 1. Our Club had raised a sum of Rs.15,000/- for “100 Rupee Project” which runs under aegis of its parent club , Rotary Club of Capital City New Delhi. They had distributed a month’s ration of 1385 families in Delhi, Haldwani and Pilibhit. 2. The second on-going project of “Pramanit Foundation” led by Rtn. Brijesh Mathur for distributing rations to families under “Zone 3” of RID 3012. Our Club had raised an amount of Rs. 8000/- for this project to carry out the distribution successfully for seven days with plans to continue it for 19 more days. 3. Also, Our Club had donated a sum of Rs. 5000/- to support Niwala foundation, which was feeding more than 18000 people in 18 days. We kept raising funds for these projects to serve the needy in hard times due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
