OUR VISION
PARKS & REC PROJECT UPDATES
KATHERINE ROSE MEMORIAL PARK
Plans began in 2021 to not only replace the playground at Rose Park, but make the most efficient use of the space with a master plan for all of the land and amenities in Rose Park, and a redevelopment of Hardy Allmon Soccer Complex and other adjacent, undeveloped park property. The master plan concept is in the phasing development stage. Construction documents for phase one will begin in early 2023.
OUR MISSION
GERTIE BARRETT PARK
Construction began this Summer on Gertie Barrett Park, a new, eight-acre park that will include a playground, splash pad, restrooms, looped trail and natural areas located off Gertie Barrett Road and Garretson Lane. Construction is underway and on schedule for completion this winter, with the park scheduled to open by the end of March 2023.
WALNUT CREEK LINEAR TRAIL
Design work is nearing completion on the Phase 3B extension of WCLT, which will connect the existing trail head at Cannon/Carlin Roads to the Oliver Nature Park entrance via sidewalk expansion and new trail construction. Design modifications have been approved to provide for a grade separated crossing at the Walnut Creek bridge under Matlock Road. Construction is currently scheduled to begin in summer 2023.
SKINNER SPORTS COMPLEX
MCCLENDON PARK WEST
McClendon Park West has been closed since July for some exciting renovations. The existing restroom and basketball courts were removed and are being replaced with a splash pad, new restroom building and expanded parking area. The playground will remain intact. New basketball courts have been added in place of the unused softball field. Construction is on schedule for completion this winter, with the park scheduled to reopen by the end of March 2023.
Skinner Sports Complex is getting a refresh! The project includes restrooms, fence additions/ updates and other improvements to the 26-year old complex that should improve the experience for both players and spectators. Upgrades to the baseball complex will be completed throughout 2023 and timed to have the least impact on league play.
Find out more on these and other projects online at mansfieldparks.com or scan here to visit the project update page.
