Innovation based on tradition.

Redesigning the way of making.

We believe in the use of conscious use of technology for a future sustainably built environment.

MANUFACTURA

We are a multidisciplinary research and production factory that studies and questions manufacturing through innovation from tradition, providing new alternatives to fulfill a sustainable built future.

What we do

OUR PROCESS

MANUFACTURA is an initiative to generate the use of new alternative materials and constructive solutions hand in hand with sustainability using 100% circular materials and technology, with the use of conscious automation.

What makes us different

We don’t believe in the replacement of the labor made by machines, we believe in a new production model that generates the union between tradition and innovation.

Our objectives

1. Sustainability

2. Circular Economy

3. New Manufacturing Processes

4. New Economy Scales of Production

5. New Ways of Doing Architecture

We develop materials from scratch to ensure their circularity.

We conduct research projects in collaboration with Academic Institutions, PhD, master’s, and undergraduate students, as well as companies, to foster innovation.

We create innovative projects that can be applied to any architectural space, object, or art form.

We are a platform that provides democratized access to our community, offering information on the conscious use of technology.

Our Robotic Arm KUKA KR-150

OUR TECHNOLOGY

01/ ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING 3D PRINTING

a) This technology uses data computeraided-design (CAD) software or 3D objects scanners to direct hardware to deposit material, layer upon layer, in precise geometric shapes.

Creating awareness through our PROCESSES

02/ AUTOMATED MANUFACTURING ROBOTIC KNITTING

b) Involves cutting away from a solid block of material. It could be a block of, for example, metal, plastic, or wood. A milling machine cutting / hollowing out a piece of meta or plastic is an example of substractive manufacturing.

DINORAH SCHULTE

Dinorah Schulte is a mexican architect/researcher. She graduated in Architecture with honours from the Cátedra Blanca CEMEX with the thesis “Sutura Topográfica” from the Universidad Iberoamericana, Mexico City, receiving the “Manuel Garibay” award and nominated project in the MCHAP Student Award 2016. In 2019, she was awarded a scholarship to participate in Norman Foster Foundation’s Robotic Atelier. She completed her postgraduate master’s program, MASDFAB Master of Advanced Studies in Architecture and Digital Fabrication, at ETH Zurich in Switzerland. Schulte has collaborated with renowned firms such as MAD Architects in China and ENSAMBLE Studio in Madrid, Spain.

Currently based in Mexico City, is a Co-Founder and Principal of MANUFACTURA, a multidisciplinary research and production design factory that studies the relationship between analog and digital fabrication through innovation based on tradition, providing new alternatives to meet a sustainable built future. She is an adjunct professor at Universidad Iberoamericana and Universidad La Salle in Mexico City and member of the editorial board of CEMEX México 2023. Recently selected at the Open Studio Residency 2024 at Haystack Mountain School of Crafts at Deer Isle, Maine, US.

Her research focuses on promoting cultural exchange through technology to explore the impact of digital fabrication in Mexico. As a sustainability and innovation enthusiast with vast experience in Latin America, she diligently works to create sustainable solutions while preserving the country’s rich cultural heritage. She challenges vernacular manufacturing systems and embraces circular, locally-sourced materials through digital fabrication and material’s innovation.
