Description: This is a two-part piece. Once I went to watch a friend’s classical dance performance where I noticed that she was decked up in auspicious jewelry. Normally, she wouldn’t wear even a small pendant, but she did this out of respect for her art; to ensure that her performance was accompanied with all the traditions. My piece shows the dancer’s hand movement, as she takes off her bangles. The second part of the piece shows the dancer’s feet wearing “ghungroos”, an accessory all Indian classical dancers wear. My piece is a simple representation of a dancer’s dedication towards her art.
