DON’T BE TRICKED! Sin can trick you. Have you ever thought that the people who are doing all the kino things are having all the fun? Don’t be tricked! Sin is like a fishing lure – it may look great on the outside, but there’s a hook on the inside. Many people today are tricked into thinking that doing kino things is fine. However, the Paipera Tapu tells us that “the penalty for sin is death” (Romans 6:23).
Other people can trick you. A hoa can trick you. Lots of people have different ideas about what is right and what is wrong. That’s why Ihowā tells us “Let no one deceive you with empty words” (Ephesians 5:6). Remember, if it’s not in the Paipera Tapu, it’s probably a trick and will lead you down the wrong path.
You can trick yourself. Some people try to tell themselves “it doesn’t matter what I believe, just so long as I believe something”. That may sound nice, but it’s a trick. The Paipera Tapu says “The manawa is deceitful above all things” (Jeremiah 17:9). Ihu said, “I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Pāpara, except through me” (John 14:6).
HERE’S THE TRUTH! Ihowā will never trick you. Unlike all the other things we have looked at, we know that “Ihowā … cannot lie” (Titus 1:2). Instead of telling us a lie, the Paipera Tapu points out that “Everyone has sinned and fallen short of the glory of Ihowā” (Romans 3:23). Our sin is all the kino things we do and makes us dirty, like a pair of shoes that have just walked through the mud. And just like we cannot walk through our own whare with muddy shoes, we cannot get into Heaven (which is the whare of Ihowā) until our sin has been cleaned (forgiven).
Ihowā aroha you. In fact, “Ihowā is love” (John 4:8, 16). No one could ever aroha you as much as Ihowā does. Even though you have done kino things, He still aroha you. That’s why He did the only thing that could ever clean our sin away – He sent His tamatāne, Ihu Karaiti (who had never done anything kino), to die on a ripeka for your sin and for mine. Ihowā showed Ihu had fully paid our debt for the kino things we do by bringing Him back to life three days later. Now you can have your sin forgiven by receiving what He has done for you. “As many as received Him, to them He gave the power to be called the sons of Ihowā” (John 1:12). Ihowā calls you. Salvation is a free koha, but we must receive it. You need to tell Ihowā that you are sorry you have done kino things, repent (change from doing those kino things) and believe that Ihu died on the ripeka for you, and ask Ihu to be your Saviour and Lord. Ihowā will hear you no matter where you are or what words you use. If you ask Ihu to be your Saviour and live your life for Him, you will receive forgiveness for all your sin and will spend eternity with Him in Heaven!
