nEW SPringS MALL OPEnS in BULLETS! TWO people are critically injured after multiple shootings that took place at the official opening of the Springs Mall today, March 16. Police have arrested two suspects and more are on the loose. According to City of ekurhuleni emergency spokesperson, William Ntladi, Fire fighters and paramedics promptly responded to the scene after receiving the call to render pre-hospital medical treatments to the casualties. Though excess to the Shopping Mall was a difficult, they managed to bypass high traffic volume and shoppers to help the injured.
PReSIDeNT Jacob Zuma says government regrets the manner in which the social grants issue has unfolded. he said government will do all it can to ensure that the current challenges do not happen again. The President was answering questions from Members of Parliament in the National Assembly on Thursday, March 16. “We deeply regret the current situation as government. We will ensure that there is never again any apprehension with regards to the payments of social grants to our people,” he said. The President said this after Cabinet set up a task team to resolve the current social grants impasse after the current contract for the payment of grants between the South Africa Social Security Agency (SASSA) and Cash Paymaster Services (CPS) was outlawed by a 2014 court ruling. The contract is set to expire at the end of the month and on Wednesday, the full bench of the Constitution Court sat to question legal teams from both government and CPS as a
push is made to find a solution to ensure that social grants recipients get their money beyond March 31. Government working tirelessly to ensure social grants are paid The President said social grants are one of the most effective poverty alleviation mechanisms. he said social grants remain one of the key achievements of the country and government in providing a social security net. “We appreciate the fact that even political parties, who have been critical of social grants over the years, have now realised the important role of the grants in the fight against poverty. “Government is doing everything possible to ensure that there are no interruptions to the normal process of paying social grants to beneficiaries at the end of this month. “We want to give an assurance to the people that receive social grants that we are doing everything in our power [to ensure that the payment of social grants] is not disrupted. “Old people, children and those that are
disabled will get their money at the end of the month. Lessons will be learnt from the current unfortunate episode to ensure that there is no recurrence,” he said. The President said he would not go into detail, as the Constitutional Court is currently seized with this matter. “As government, we will ensure that a sustainable payment solution is found, which is compliant with our black economic empowerment and all our laws. “The solution must also help us to ensure that fraud and corruption do not take place in the social grant payment system. Government saves about R1 billion annually in the social grant system currently through our effective anti-fraud measures in the department of Social Development, which is a great achievement,” he said. On a question of what actions he would take against Social Development Minister Bathabile Dlamini over the current social grant challenges, the President said: “Actions against Ministers is the prerogative of the President.” – SAnews.gov.za
“On assessment, a total of five patients were accounted for of which two are members of the South African Police Services. One officer sustained gunshot wound on the shoulder and was airlifted to Union hospital for further medical care while the other member sustained gunshot wound on the hand,“ said Ntladi in a statement. “The third patient, member of the public, sustained gunshot wounds on her lower abdominal region and was in a serious but stable condition. She was road transported by ambulance to Far east Rand hospital for further medical care.” According to eyewitnesses; the third patient, member of the public, sustained gunshot wounds on her lower abdominal region and was in a serious but stable conditions. empd officer slaps cellphone out of motorist's hand! The eMPD views the incident in which a metro police officer is involved in an altercation with a member of the public in a very serious light. Motorist Diederick Stopforth’s cellphone was slapped out of his hand and the officer proceeded to drive-off with his driver’s licence. The incident took place on Wednesday morning, March 15. a truck,” he said. This is when an ekurhuleni Metro Police Department (eMPD) officer pulled them over. “he kind of stuck half of his body in my window and wanted to know why I drove around the truck.” Stopforth said he told the officer that he didn’t want to cause an obstruction and was well within his rights. however, the officer walked around his vehicle, checked to see if he had any outstanding fines and checked the registration number. According to Stopforth, the officer used foul language, which is why his girlfriend recorded the incident.
“he told us we were being clever, then grabbed my licence and walked away. he didn’t write me a ticket; he just walked off with my licence.” “I got out of my vehicle and followed him, switched on my phone and at this stage I realised that he had no identification, no name, rank or anything to identify him as an officer of the law.” When he asked the officer for his name, he slapped Stopforth’s phone out of his hand. he said when his girlfriend did the same; her phone was also slapped out of her hands, adding that it suffered a bit more damage than his. The complainant has opened a criminal case at edenvale Po-

breakthrough in both the o.r tambo heist and ‘Zama-Zama’ killings!
The South African Police Service is pleased to report progress on the significant breakthrough in the highly organised OR Tambo heist which took place on Tuesday, March 7.
Let us firstly use this opportunity to commend and express our appreciation to the multidisciplinary team of the South African Police Service and the hawks, including the relevant stakeholders who have been instrumental in ensuring a thorough investigation following the heist/armed robbery last week . The hard work and dedication of the team has resulted in the gathering of intelligence and subsequent arrest and questioning of suspects allegedly involved in the commission of this crime. Within a week of investigations and interviewing of people of interest pertaining to
this case, we can confirm that four people have been taken in for questioning of which two appeared in the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court today in connection with this heist/armed-robbery.
The South African Police Service would like to reassure all South Africans that we are committed to securing our ports of entry and preventing and combating serious crimes of this nature.
Two people are currently being questioned. It is highly regrettable that one of our own members is among the two. This confirms our version of not ruling out the possibility of a collusion and/or an inside job.
In relation to the fourteen bodies that were found on the 5th and 6th of March in the vicinity of a railway line in Benoni, we have also made a significant breakthrough with the arrest of four people. We can confirm that the victims and suspects are all Lesotho nationals.
As the South African Police Service we would like to reiterate our stance, that if we found that any of our members had a role to play we would take decisive action. Our investigations continue and further court appearances and arrests are likely to be made.

SHACKS REMOVED AND ONE SUSPECT WHO SHOT AT POLICE WITH AN UNLICENCED FIREAM ARRESTED!
The illegally put up structures under a bridge in Wattville
On Saturday morning, March 11, several unknown people illegally put up shacks under the bridge at the entrance of Wattville in Benoni area. Information of the illegal land invasion reached the authorities. The EMPD Police failed to persuade the invaders to stop the illegal invasion.

Even the local community were up in arms about the squatting threatening the land-invaders with violence. govt. digs deep to push township SMMEs to success The National Planning Commission is set to
host various dialogue sessions with Small, Medium and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs) throughout the country from March until May. The commission on February 28 said the dialogue sessions are part of its information gathering on the “Limited Success of Entrepreneurial Activity by Locals in Townships and Rural Areas". The commission said the findings of the dialogue sessions will assist it to gain deeper insights into the context and challenges faced by township and rural economies. The information gathering will also assist in informing the process for reviewing and assessing existing strategies. The dialogue sessions will play a role in giving direction in the formulation of new strategies to deal with the challenges faced by township and rural SMMEs. “The South African government’s policy recognises the potential that SMMEs can play in job creation and economic growth. “There is further recognition that sustainable SMMEs have a potential to provide multiplier effects on some social issues such as social inclusion, poverty alleviation and equitable access to opportunities in society. “It also sets out several ambitious goals for SMMEs, including a target of 90% of new employment opportunities to be created by them by 2030,” said the commission. The National Development Plan (NDP) states that South Africa must focus on the economic advancement of the poorest South Africans. To eliminate poverty, South Africa has to raise employment, which the commission says can only happen if growth of the economy is faster and more inclusive so that it allows the historically disadvantaged to earn a decent living. “There is, a great need in the short term for the economy to create jobs for the unemployed South Africans, many of whom are young and unskilled. “This must take place at the same time as upgrading the skills base and knowledge levels for a different economy in future,” the document says. CABINET, PREMIERS AND MAYORS commit to working together!
The three spheres of government have, at a meeting with President Jacob Zuma on Friday (March 3), committed to tackling issues affecting the country together.
This as government believes more work has to be done at a local government level. “No level of government must face challenges on its own without getting assistance from others. There are many things we believe, after 22 years, we need to look at how we will move [forward],” said the President at the conclusion of the meeting. The President’s Coordinating Council meeting was held at the Union Buildings in Pretoria and attended by a number of Ministers and Deputy Ministers, Premiers and South African Local Government Association (SALGA) leaders. Provinces had the opportunity to give reports on the state of their municipalities and SALGA will give a presentation at the next meeting.
The President, who declared the meeting successful, said municipalities face challenges such as budgets and politics which compromise the services that must be rendered to citizens. “We cannot allow that [to continue] because democracy is there to help improve the lives of our people.”
He said if municipalities are not able to work on issues like coalitions and fail to deliver services to the people, there must be a system within democracy that either the provincial or national government, or both, come in to intervene. This would ensure that people do not suffer because of political issues. “We cannot allow a situation which is under democracy to make ordinary people suffer.”
ABOUT Migration He said a special report on issues affecting foreign nationals was tabled and discussed.
The meeting resolved that a report must be compiled and be shared with countries that have raised concerns about their citizens living in South Africa. The report will highlight challenges in the country. “We have been making a point that South Africans are not necessarily xenophobic. We have been living with people from other countries for centuries and it has never been a problem. Even now, it is only when there is an incident where something erupts and it looks like the citizens are attacking foreigners, but there is an explanation to a number of things. “…. There are issues of crime and drugs that are destroying our youths, and we cannot stand back. If foreign nationals are involved in those kinds of things, then we have got to make enforcement sectors play their role.” He said the country also had a responsibility to secure its citizens.

‘War on leaks’ plumbing learnership launched!
Sasol and its collaborative partners, Cobra Watertech (Pty) Ltd, Rand Water, Gert Sibande TVET College and Govan Mbeki Municipality launched the War on Leaks Project Plumbing Learnership for unemployed youth in the Govan Mbeki Municipal area. Through this 18 month long programme, a total of 60 youths will be trained as learner plumbers, at the GS TVET College Skills Academy, Standerton. At the end of their training, the participants will receive accredited NQF level 4 qualifications in plumbing and will be awarded an opportunity to undergo on the job training where they will work at selected GMM schools and municipal facilities.
In 2016, Sasol supported the Department of Water and Sanitation’s (DWS) call to save water through the War on Leaks Campaign. The first phase of the campaign identified six schools within the Govan Mbeki Municipality, with high water consumption as a result of water leaks. Water consumption at all six schools averaged 1 000 m³/week, which was reduced to 275 m³/ week - an impressive 60% recorded water savings - upon the implementation of the project. The campaign won a Responsible Care Award (Category A) from the Allied and Chemical In-
dustries Association.
During this phase, 12 local unemployed youth were given basic plumber training and on-the-job training by Sasol and collaborative partners The group is part of the 60 youths that will now undertake the NQF level 4 training. “Sasol remains committed to the success of communities and municipalities around our operations. I hope the learnership recipients will take the opportunity with both hands and complete the training with flying colours in order to set the standard for the others that will follow,” said Mau-
reen Mboshane, Vice President for Corporate Affairs, Sasol Secunda Operations. Andy Camphausen, Cobra Inland Specifications Manager said, “Cobra has a proud history with our plumbing fraternity and in light of this history, we believe in continued skills development. Cobra is proud to be associated with the War on Leaks Project Plumbing Learnership for unemployed youth. We are committed to uplifting communities by providing people with skills that will help them better their lives and provide skills that communities will benefit from.”

After tweeting Nasty C a below the belt comment, Dr.Malinga became a target, as fans of the rapper reprimanded the man about his tweet.
ON Tuesday (March 14), award winning Rapper Nasty C posted a video on Instagram replying to Dr.Malinga’s tweet that called him a ‘Pawn Shop.’ Dr.Malinga rubbed off Nasty C and his fans the wrong way when he insinuated that the rapper does not own all that he won.
The tweet was probably in response to the alleged hacking of Metro FM servers which revealed the "real" winners of the Metro FM Awards. The SABC has since rubbished the Metro FM hackings. Malinga's tweets took many of Nasty C's fans by surprise. That’s when Nasty C responded in a video. The self made footage, posted also on Mapepeza Newspaper YouTube page, really got heated when Nasty C said: “You’re a 103, you wear green shorts that go up to your man boobs and pink shoes pretending to kick down a plane on stage. You’re a f***ing gimmick! You are a publicity stunt. Let it go; it’s okay, cut the shit out. How do your kids even look up to you? On which world? Shut the f**k up and stop being a sorry ass and work half as hard as I do and maybe you’ll understand how to win. NXM”
Nasty C lashes out at a punchline tweet by Dr.Malinga, watch the video: https://youtu.be/sllQP-yvOL0
Nasty C had initially remained silent about Dr Malinga's comment, but responded in a fiery way when it was starting to become viral news. The rapper also tweeted after the video saying “Ppl I really respect are asking me to reconsider how I deal with things like this. I don’t take back anything I said... just where I said it.”

I recently read an article by Xolile Mangcu about a stash of African artefacts found in London museums and elsewhere outside Africa. I found this very interesting, mother Africa was robbed ofhundreds of years by European countries and we as Africans must make it our duty to reclaim all what was stolen by these
GREEDY thieves. Most archaeological discoveries were loaded into ships and aeroplanes for Europe and even USA for ‘’further study and preservation’’ but honestly, that was not the case because nothing was ever returned. Now children from Africa have to travel overseas to study their historical roots & that puts too
much strain of African countries & their children.
