BE INSPIRED BY THE LIFE AND LEGACY OF O.R AND ADELAIDE TAMBO The newly appointed Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department Chief of Police, Bafana Andries Mahlabe, signs the oath to serve the residents of Ekurhuleni.
ON October 22 (Thursday), the City of Ekurhuleni officially opened the O R Tambo Narrative Centre in Wattville. Minister in the Presidency, Hon. Jeff Radebe and City Mayor Mondli Gungublele delivered memorable keynote addresses, honouring the late Oliver and Adelaide Tambo. Other dignified guests included the son of Oliver and Adelaide Tambo, Dali, was accompanied by his wife Rachel and former Ekurhuleni Mayor Duma Nkosa. The Narrative Centre is part of a larger precinct which includes a monument at the OR and Adelaide Tambo gravesite, an environmental centre, a crafts centre and an amphitheatre for performing arts. Oliver Reginald Tambo, one of South Africa’s most loved and illustrious leaders, lived in the community of Wattville with his LEADING THE WAY: The newly appointed Chief of Police alongside Ekurhuleni Executive Mayor, Cllr Mondli Gungubele, during his first parade inspection which took place at the Germiston Civic Centre. They are accompanied by the Gauteng Police wife, Adelaide Tambo, from 1948 until he went into exile in 1960, Commissioner, Lieutenant-General Lesetja Mothiba and Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality’s Chief of Police, Steven Ngobeni.
and then on his return to South Africa in 1991. Such was their bond with the community of Wattville that O R and Adelaide Tambo chose the Tamboville Cemetery as their final resting place. Their gravesite has since been declared a National Heritage Site. Oliver Reginald Tambo is universally admired and respected as one of South Africa’s greatest leaders. The City of Ekurhuleni invites all South Africans, as well as those who were involved in the AntiApartheid Movement internationally, to contribute their experiences and memories of Oliver and Adelaide Tambo to the making of the OR Tambo Narrative Centre and exhibition. YOUNG DEALER ARRESTED!

The celebrations that came with the Ekurhuleni Spring Fiesta continue as three lucky aspiring Disk-Jocks who attended the Spring Fiesta Legacy workshops walked away with bursaries that promise to advance their careers in the music industry. The week long workshops – held recently at the Springs Theatre and Germiston City Hall - focused on Mentoring, Music Production, Disc Joking, Entertainment and the Female Brand. International music heavy weights such as DJ Rocco and local music professionals Mo Flava, DJ Zintle, DJ Naves and Reason shared experiences to prepare the future music maestros. Through insightful interactions at the
workshops, three bursaries from Boston City Campus and Soul Candi Institute of Music were awarded to Tebogo Mokoena from Springs, Kopano Ramashala from Daveyton and Ayanda Kanana from KwaThema. To prove that perseverance and determination pays off, Tebogo Mokoena struck gold on the second day of the workshops and was awarded a Digital Music Composition and Production bursary valued at R26 500. “For the past 10 years I’ve been working on perfecting my craft until the day DJ Cuba and DJ Lady-X listened to my set called Mlolo’s Thing and fell in love with it. I am prepared to make the best out of this opportunity with the hope to work with wellknown DJ’s brewed at the Soul Candi stable.”
Rand Water and Municipalities urge consumers to use water sparingly Persistent high temperatures in Rand Water’s area of supply continue to strain its bulk water supply system. The lack of rainfall in Gauteng is exacerbating the situation. The high water demand will cause localised problems in Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality, the City of Johannesburg and the City of Tshwane. All consumers must use water responsibly over the weekend. Advice on how to save water is available on the Water Wise link on Rand Water’s website – www.randwater.co.za.

MAYOR DELIVERS TITLE DEEDS TO DIPALESENG RESIDENTS
www.mapepezamedia.co.za
MAPEPEZA COMMUNITY NEWSPAPER
Thursday, the 16th October 2015, was a very glorious day to many residents from Siyathemba, made so by the Executive Mayor Clr. NS Nhlapo as more than five hundred residents from all wards from Dipaleseng received title deeds to their properties. Joy and appreciation could be attributed to the loud clapping of hands by the beneficiaries that had gathered at the Siyathemba community hall as each and every beneficiary was called to receive their title deed. “This not only means that these beneficiaries now have a decent shelter but also a place to call home”, said the Executive Mayor as she outlined the importance of the beneficiaries attaining these documents. This notable delivery came as a result of the Department’s informal settlements upgrading programme which seeks to eradicate among others; dwellings in shack houses and the occupation of derelict mud houses. This deliverable is realised through various programmes as implemented by the Mpumalanga Provincial Department of Human Settlement with a combined cost of over R22 million. These projects also managed to employ about 70 locals inclusive of youth and women. The Executive Mayor also mentioned how proud they are of their achievements thus far as government and also commended the Department’s efforts in delivering quality houses and other projects for communities not only in Dipaleseng but throughout the entire Mpumalanga province. She further assured the community that as a municipality they have embraced the recently launched Operation Vuka Sisebente (OSV) model which aims at increasing coordination and communication amongst stakeholders. One of beneficiaries, Mr Mpho Mokoena, said that life became very difficult when his grandmother passed away since she was the one who was helping him. “We are honored for what our government has done for us, this is a dream come true to have a decent home” said Mpho who’s family relies on a disability grant received by him. “Through partnerships from government, private sector and municipalities, we will remain unwavering that our dream of delivering integrated sustainable human settlements will come to fruition”, concluded the Executive Mayor.
