PARANORMAL NEWS / EVENTS & CONFERENCES / BOOK & DVD REVIEWS PUBLISHED BY MAPIT
MAPIT 2015 Brought to you by MAPIT: Est. 1974.
EDITORIAL Well, here we go again with a new magazine and a new year. A quick heads up for our readers, we will be producing a Spring Special Edition of Phenomena Magazine, this will have 100 pages full of articles, news and reviews, but we will be making a nominal charge for this of £1 per copy. This practically giving it away when you consider the content. More details will follow. Some of the mail I receive relates to many of the articles that appear in the pages of this magazine, so perhaps I should make something absolutely clear. Neither Steve nor I personally endorse or promote everything we use. There is nothing sinister in this; it is simply because although we keep and open mind we do not necessarily have to agree with everything that is said. We put it in these pages purely to allow as wide a range of opinions to be expressed as we can, and that is as it should be. I have to make this clear because some of the emails seem to imply that because we print it we agree with it and that is not the case. This in some way reflects the reaction of some members of the audience at conferences when I give one of my most popular presenta‐ tions, ‘Truth, Lies and Ufology’. I make absolutely clear at the very outset that I am sure we are visited by non‐human, non‐earthly entities, but I dispute their point of origin. However this is either ignored by audience members or not heard as their passions are stoked and this illus‐ trates the point I am making. As this New Year progresses we will print articles from various sources giving all sorts of views and paradigms, hopefully you will all be entertained and who knows: maybe even learn something new. A Happy (and safe) New Year to you all...

The ‘Grover’s Mill’ referred to in the title, a real place in the American state New Jersey, reflects two things; one is a unique occurrence in broadcasting and the other is how some UFO groups will accept noth‐ ing other than their own version of how Ufology operates. In 1938, a surprisingly large section of the radio audience listening to a radio broadcast from the Orson Wells’ Mercury Theatre of the Air featuring H.G Well’s ‘War of the Worlds’, demonstrated such a syndrome. In England, the magnificent seven were developed in the 1830s and 1840s.These were incredibly gorgeous cities of the dead whose architects pulled much of their motif designs from the ancient Egyptians, who as history has proven, were experts in entombing bodies with an expectation of freshness forever. America had something nearly equally elegant in the Hollywood Memorial Park Cemetery, albeit 50 years later. Pat Bussard takes delves into the Hollywood Forever Cemetery... Page 13: The Age of Aetherius. A strange prejudice exists, even among some spiritually‐minded people, that great and miraculous events may have occurred in history, but do not happen now. And yet these are the most significant and danger‐ ous days we have ever lived through. If God exists – and I believe It does – Its presence would certainly be felt today. And if the gods were ever to come among us – and I believe they have throughout our history – this would surely be a time of their coming. Richard Lawrence explains... Page 17: Haunted Niagara. Somewhere off in the distance an owl hoots hauntingly, its cries is the only sound to break the unnatural stillness of the night. A light rain falls from above, running like icy claws down your neck. You shiver almost uncontrollably, both from the chill and the terror seizing control of your mind as a misty form emerges from the darkness and stretches an ethereal arm out towards you. Last year, I was awarded the 2014 MUFON Symposium to manage in July of 2014 and we held it outside of Philadelphia in Cherry Hill, NJ. I gave a lot of thought to the theme of the event and selected “UFOs and the Media”. I thought it was a very pertinent topic and also knowing the mentality of people on the east coast, I knew they needed a topic and speakers with showmanship as opposed to boring scientific reviews. I re‐ searched the topic for my lecture and presented the following… John Ventre provides details of his lecture. Page 31: The Manor House. The Manor House began its history as a 16th century Yeoman dwelling. The original house is a substantial structure with large stone fireplaces on the ground floor with the remains of others in the bedrooms. John Wilkinson inherited the estate in 1642 and sold it on to John Shawe, who was a man of some standing in the community. He was a Captain, a Church Warden and a Constable during the Civil War. The Manor House is known to be haunted and British Paranormal Investigations were there to check it out... Page 37: Ascension: What exactly is that? What is “Ascension?” When we hear the word “ascension” in the context of spirituality, what exactly does that mean? Is the Earth and its inhabitants preparing for some kind of ascension to a Fifth Dimension? These were the kinds of questions that were attempted to be answered at the first annual Ascension Portal conference in Mt Shasta City, California, USA on Sept 8‐10, 2014. An article titled "7 Huge Misconceptions about Aliens" by Natalie Wolchover has appeared recently on several websites including Space.com; Life's Little Mysteries (prime site); and the Huffington Post (abridged to just five). The ‘Grover’s Mill’ referred to in the title, a real place in the American state New Jer‐ sey, reflects two things; one is a unique occurrence in broadcasting and the other is how some UFO groups will accept noth‐ ing other than their own version of how Ufology operates; but first a remarkable event that occurred in the first half of the 20th century. In 1938, a surprisingly large sec‐ tion of the radio audience (numbering in their many thou‐ sands) listening to a radio broad‐ cast from the Orson Wells’ Mer‐ cury Theatre of the Air featuring H.G Well’s ‘War of the Worlds’, was panicked into thinking that beings from the planet Mars really had landed in the USA and were rampaging across the coun‐ try killing anything and every‐ thing that got in their way. Al‐ though the broadcasting com‐ pany had transmitted a warning prior to the play starting, some of the audience tuned in after the show had begun and since it was dramatized as a ‘live’ broad‐ cast from the landing site, this fooled some of them into think‐ ing it was real. What this demonstrates is that, given the right set of circumstances and despite the fact that the event was unlikely; if fright‐ ened enough (and in this case they were) people will accept at face value almost any‐ thing that has a veneer of authenticity. This includes the possibility that, for no good or obvious reason, an extraterrestrial race would want to invade the planet we live on. Perhaps it also reveals a deep rooted fear that lies within human beings that what we do not understand necessarily wants to do us harm. This is the rationale behind many motion pictures depicting extra‐terrestrials as inherently inimical to human beings. It has also been suggested that the event was staged as part of an experiment or‐ chestrated by a department within the US Government to see just how effective the broadcast media could be in terms of influ‐ encing the public. Perhaps it was and per‐ haps it was not, but either way the effects were quite dramatic. In many ways this paradigm highlights the second part of the ‘Grover’s Mill Syndrome’, because it runs a close parallel to some groups of UFO enthu‐ siasts who completely accept that
extraterrestrials along with their space‐ craft regularly arrive here on earth and interact with the general public, often on no more solid basis than someone’s say so, especially if that ‘someone’ is appar‐ ently knowledgeable or has unique infor‐ mation about the subject. Despite having no real proof of this they continue to hold
these beliefs to the point of actively deny‐ ing and rejecting any information to the contrary; this is a prime example of some‐ thing called ‘cognitive dissonance’, where someone, despite abundant and solid evidence to the contrary, illogically per‐ sists in maintaining a particular mindset. In many ways this is similar to religion, any religion, where people hold a belief in a deity of one sort on another despite having absolutely no concrete evidence regarding its existence. They, like many Ufologists, rely entirely on faith alone and that again mirrors what people listening to the 1938 radio broadcast did when they took what was said on faith, trust of you like, and acted accordingly. This ten‐ dency does not escape governments the world over who use instinctive trust, faith and belief (in this case the assumption that those in authority are always going to tell you the truth) as a tool to maintain a measure of control. This is seen repeatedly in wartime, or it used to be in the days before instant 24 hours news coverage, when reports from the battlefield could take some time to 03
reach those back at home and anything considered negative or adverse was fre‐ quently censored before transmission. It still happens now, but is much more subtle and difficult to monitor when reporters are frequently embedded with fighting units and carry satellite broadcasting equip‐ ment. What we are actually talking about here is propaganda and how it is used. Similar psychological tech‐ niques are regularly employed by advertising agencies and supermarkets and we fall for it time and time again. In truth, the public is continually manipu‐ lated in a variety of ways, par‐ ticularly in the manner in which supermarkets are laid out; the flat pack furniture retailer IKEA is one of the companies who helped pioneer this technique. This iconic multinational com‐ pany uses a remarkable formula designed to disorientate the people (i.e. its customers) who pass through its doors. This is called the ‘Gruen Transfer’ and is named after an Austrian ar‐ chitect called Victor Gruen and IKEA deliberately configures the layout, colour schemes and sometimes scents and sounds in their stores to disorientate, confuse and partly make the customer forget why they originally decided to visit. If you think that any given supermarket is laid out in a ran‐ dom manner then think again, for they are not, they are laid out specifically to induce you to spend money and they are very good at it too, it is why in many cases we ‘impulse buy’ an article. Manufacturers are well aware of this and pay a premium to have their products placed in specific parts of the stores. In other words people can be influenced into thinking just about any‐ thing. With that in mind, what follows is a commentary on my own ideas regarding some aspects of Ufology and some of the groups who fall into the category of, and I mean no offence here, ‘True Believers’. Sadly, because I try to maintain an open mind on a variety of related subjects, I am currently considered a heretic in hard‐core Ufological circles. This is simply because I do not accept the reality or validity of most aspects of the extraterrestrial hypothesis (ETH), i.e. that we are routinely visited by
Ufology and the Grover’s Mill Syndrome ‐ By Brian Allan
entities who originate on worlds far (and intriguingly perhaps not so far) removed from our own. This is to use the word, ‘heretic’, in its original and correct sense, i.e. one who makes a careful and consid‐ ered personal choice based on evidence and in this case it is a choice not to accept the orthodox views pertaining to UFOs both in what they are and where they come from. This is simply because, in spite of claims to the contrary, there is absolutely no consensus or solid evidence, none, to support the ETH. Formerly I accepted the ETH and all that went with it as a fact, but over many years the more I thought about it the less likely it seemed, until I finally abandoned it. However my own situation within the UFO community is now rather worse than being merely a heretic: I am currently regarded in some quarters as being active in the sup‐ posed conspiracy to conceal the ‘truth’ (and I use inverted commas here) about contact between humans and extraterrestrial races and that is absolutely not the case. This (usually inflexible) paradigm has come from those within the field who view the subject of Ufology and their opinions about it as unique and unassailable and theirs is the only possible interpretation; in other words ‘It’s our Ufology, they are our ideas and we are not interested in hearing anything that conflicts with them, so f*** you!’ This is tantamount to sticking your fingers in your ears and shouting ‘La, la, la, I can’t hear you’. I have seen this at first hand and for the dedicated, (some might say blinkered) Ufologist, it’s all very comforting I suppose, but unlikely to further their cause. It is deeply saddening that those who are supposed to be on the same side seem willing to indulge in this kind of negative bloodletting. It is on a par with the knee‐ jerk reaction expected from the rabid ultra‐ rationalists and others from the scientific community who continually deny and de‐ nounce anything that does not conform to their rigid denials regarding anything appar‐ ently involving paranormal phenomena. To be absolutely clear; my issue is not that I doubt we are visited by non‐human enti‐ ties, because I am certain that we are. How‐ ever, based on my own experiences, I be‐ lieve that these entities have more in com‐ mon with what we loosely define as ‘the paranormal’ rather than anything extrater‐ restrial, although I suppose a paranormal entity is by definition also non‐terrestrial. I make no apologies for my opinion, be‐ cause since I became more deeply involved with ‘mainstream’ paranormal studies, the more similarities I saw between these two ostensibly unrelated subjects. I increasingly saw this in cases where I investigated mani‐ festations by, e.g. ghosts and poltergeists and how this affected the people experi‐ encing these events. In a surprisingly large
number of cases these individuals also experienced UFO related incidents either just before the encounters or just after and sometimes simultaneously. The same proved true in reverse with people who had experienced UFO related events; a perfect mirror image and always this strange connection. Why? My problem lay in the fact that I spoke out about it and both welcomed and encouraged an
Point Pleasant in Virginia in the USA seemed to buck that trend. Keel implied that it was a sort of multidimensional en‐ tity, maybe even a bona‐fide time traveller, and it reputedly had wings (plus large, scary red eyes). The wings sported by scriptural angels were an addition awarded them by various religions who assumed they would need them in order to fly to Heaven, which of course by tradition was
informed debate on the matter, which is exactly what the ‘true believers’ were, as previously mentioned, apparently not prepared to have and risk ‘contamination’ by a viewpoint that conflicted with their own and that is far from healthy. In fact a reaction such as this is something one would expect from the member of a cult. I base my comments about the paranor‐ mal/UFO interface on the fact that the descriptions we have of ET’s and their craft, i.e. their abilities and how they be‐ have, (more on the craft shortly) seems to describe beings that either resemble de‐ mons (the greys and so‐called reptilians etc) or at the other extreme the tall, blond, Nordic ‘space brothers’ who share many similarities with our perception of what angels should look like. So far they have not been reported as sporting an‐ gelic wings, although the late John Keel’s notorious and monstrous ‘Mothman’, assuming it was both real and non‐ terrestrial, that apparently turned up at
above us, just as Hell was assumed to be below. Although all the major religions recognise them, the concept of angels as we know them was an attempt by the Catholic Church to anthromorphisise these supposed spirit beings and servants of God and make them more accessible and credi‐ ble to a largely uneducated and gullible population. That said, if our forefathers especially up to and including the 17th cen‐ tury had chanced upon entities like the Nordics alighting from spacecraft, then they would probably quite naturally have assumed that they were ‘otherworldly’, (the idea of living, non‐terrestrial races was simply not within their frame of reference) and therefore angelic, especially if they had been helped or otherwise assisted by them. This of course introduces the highly con‐ tentious subject of UFO’s and the Bible (Ezekiel’s famous ‘wheels’, which belched fire and if the bible is to be believed car‐ ried living creatures are a case in point). This subject is an absolute minefield, but one of the few areas that still recognises and wholeheartedly promotes and

endorses the reality of angels is found within the New Age community. Here there is a thriving business based around sup‐ posed angelic beings, although it is arguable whether or not these ‘angels’ have any connection to those espoused by scripture. The truth is more likely to be a case of re‐ packaging an old idea for a new audience with a much broader based concept of spiri‐ tuality. At any rate demons, angels and much else besides belong firmly in the canon of paranormal lore. I have also found that those people who espouse ‘angels’ etc, much like the true‐believing Ufologist, are in flat denial about any possible interpreta‐ tion other than their own of what these entities actually are, or might be. One encounters a similar argument when delving into the possibility that Jesus Christ might have been a shaman or even a sor‐ cerer, because like it or not, what he did was by any measure ‘magickal’ in its literal sense. Any given miracle was a demonstra‐ tion of magick; but I suppose it all rather depends on one’s point of view. It has been suggested that one of the reason that Christ was crucified by the Romans (they knew crucifixion was the very worst and agonis‐ ing way to execute someone, it is how the word ‘excruciating’ i.e. ‘of the cross’ to describe agonising pain entered the lexicon) was because, in addition to charges of sedi‐ tion etc, he has also been accused by the ruling Jewish Council, the Sanhedrin, of being a’ ‘malificus’ or sorcerer, a charge that carried the ultimate penalty of crucifix‐ ion As far as the vehicles are concerned, they slip in and out of sight in literally the twin‐ kling of an eye; they flit from place to place almost instantaneously as well in defiance of our understanding of physics. It has been speculated that if there was a pilot in the craft they could not withstand the rapid acceleration and deceleration, unless of course there was some kind of (as yet un‐ known) inertial dampening field in use. For those reasons it has been suggested that, rather than extraterrestrial spacecraft, the objects showing similar capabilities seen above various US air force bases, especially few years ago, were in fact unmanned drones being developed under the cloak of the many ‘black projects’ underway at the time. These craft would indeed demonstrate remarkable flight characteristics simply because they were not manned, however they are ‘piloted’ though since they are under the direct control of a ground based operator using what amounts to next level PlayStation or X‐Box WIFI technology. They can also fly completely autonomously as well if required, but the final decision to
engage a target would normally be left to human operators, especially if that target was a specific human being or might in‐ volve an unacceptable level of collateral damage. Another feature attributed to these craft is that they sometimes display a shift in colour just before they disappear, some‐ times shifting to blue and sometimes to red. This may hint at the fact they are vanishing or phasing into either the infra‐ red or ultraviolet parts of the spectrum where we could not see them anyway. Never forget that as human beings we can only ever see into a tiny sliver of what surrounds us because we are not equipped to see that far: yes, with tech‐ nology we can, but not with or own eyes. It’s the same with colours, we have recep‐ tors called ‘cones’ in our eyes and each receptor reacts to a particular colour, either red, blue or green so what we see comprises various percentages of these three basic colours. However, some birds and fish have four different ‘cones’ and some insects even more, so they can see colours that we cannot, perhaps they can actually see these craft (and maybe the entities that travel in them) as a matter of course, and we have no way of either knowing or ask‐ ing. For that matter this may be why some animals can apparently detect the pres‐ ence of ‘ghosts’, is it because they can actually see or hear them using their natu‐ rally enhanced senses of hearing and vi‐ sion? This may be why a dog or cat will, for no apparent reason, sometimes sit staring at a fixed point in a room as if see‐ ing, or hearing, something that we cannot. Furthermore, the craft belonging to ET must be, indeed have to be, capable of superluminal speeds to cover the dis‐ tances that they do and this is a technol‐ ogy we simply do not have (yet), although we can perhaps make informed guesses at 05
how it might be achieved. There is another possibility and that is that these craft do not travel from A to B in an accepted linear fashion, but move ‘sideways’ through al‐ ternate versions of reality. Either that or they are constructed on principles using techniques at which we can only guess that are more akin to magick, in effect a kind of genuine ‘voodoo technology’, or they are simply not nuts and bolts spacecraft as we understand them at all. However, the really frustrating thing is that they might be none or all of these things, in other words they have more than one source.
In terms of Ufology, it has been suggested that some locations dotted around the world, the Bermuda Triangle is a good example, the Skinwalker Ranch is another, are very ‘special’ indeed, because strange and anomalous events seem to occur there on a semi‐regular and almost predictable basis. These ‘strange events’ cover every‐ thing from UFO sightings and ghostly mani‐ festations to the sudden disappearance (and appearance) of people and objects, these locations are sometimes called ‘window areas’ or simply ‘portals’. Just why (and even if) these anomalies exist is a matter of great conjecture and speculation and many explanations for their existence have been offered. These include the ac‐ tion of ley lines and volcanic activity to rather more exotic explanations like the influence of other civilisations bringing their (presumably) advanced technology to bear on us. One aspect of the idea of these ‘special’ areas that is rather concerning in that nei‐ ther of the two areas mentioned here seem to have lasted the course particularly well. During the late 1970’s through to the 1990’s the aforementioned Bermuda Tri‐ angle and Skinwalker Ranch emerged as being possible ‘window areas’ or places

where alternate realities interfaced with our own and strange evens and creatures manifested. This flurry of interest produced witnesses who swore they had seen and/or experienced all sorts of high‐strangeness events; possibly they did, but why only certain people, why only relatively infre‐ quently and why did it cease? There is another issue here; there are very few cases of UFO sightings that have been well documented and attested to. There is of course the iconic Roswell incident, but the truth will never be known about what did or did not occur there chiefly because the waters have become irrevocably mud‐ died by claim and counterclaim, but there is at least one incident that just might bridge the gap and that is what occurred around Christmas time in 1980 close to the joint USAF/RAF base at Bentwaters in the UK, i.e. the Rendlesham Forest sighting. This inci‐ dent here in the west is about as solid an example of well‐attested contact with ‘something’ non‐human and some form of advanced technology as we are likely to get, but unfortunately once again there are conflicting versions of events and besides, the pros and cons of what occurred there are not the purpose of this article There are other problems with the current views of those who accept the unques‐ tioned reality of the ETH and this lies with the quality of the evidence so far produced.
This is especially true of one seminal book which is still held as proof positive of a vast governmental cover‐up. The book is called ‘The Day After Roswell’ and was written by the late Col Philip J Corso aided and abetted by Bill Birnes, a well‐known figure on the UFO landscape. The book purports to be a revelation about just how far the US government went to conceal a whole host of information about the pres‐ ence of extra‐terrestrials amongst us. Not only that, but how much modern technol‐ ogy was developed in ‘the black’ and back ‐engineered from artefacts removed from the spacecraft that supposedly crashed at Roswell. According to the hype, Corso would have been best placed to know about this given that he ran the US Army’s Foreign Technology Department, which was charged with finding out what kind of technology was being developed and used by the militaries of other countries, both friendly and otherwise. This was deemed the best cover and most discrete way of researching the Roswell artefacts and filtering the results to main‐ stream firms to be used, initially for mili‐ tary purposes, then on to the civilian mar‐ ket. Corso claimed that items such as inte‐ grated circuits, Kevlar, lasers, depleted uranium munitions, fibre optics etc., etc. all came indirectly from the Roswell crash; after all he was in charge so he would know…right? Well yes and no: yes, he was in charge of the Foreign Technology de‐ partment but no, I am certain that nothing from Roswell ever arrived there and the book is an absolute masterpiece of disin‐ formation, misinformation and fantasy leavened with a generous
06
sprinkling of checkable facts. It is these checkable facts regarding times, people and places that lend an air of gravitas and authenticity to the other material Although Corso mentions such wartime operations as Project Paperclip, the ex‐ tremely efficient intelligence gathering programme which he helped organise to the extent of selecting both the scientists and the projects. He plays down the fact that he was well aware of the kind of cut‐ ting edge military technology being devel‐ oped in Nazi Germany in the closing days of WWII, especially relating to semi‐ conductor work being carried out by major companies like Siemens and Telefunken. This also incudes the precursors of items like lasers and projected energy weapons (early work on microwaves and of course radar lead to these) which were also being considered. Corso also claims to have seen the actual ET’s that were aboard the craft when they were being kept in a hanger on an airbase where he was stationed, but we only have his word for that: there is no independent corroboration of any kind. What we have looked a here is absolutely typical of what is used as the bedrock of irrefutable ‘proof’ used by some UFO groups to claim that assertions like these have a basis in fact when the truth is rather more uncertain. In some ways the use of Bill Brines (whose integrity and total sin‐ cerity cannot be called into question) to help write the book further draws in the believers, who, because Bill had been around the UFO scene for many years, assume he must automatically have an insight into how accurate the claims made by Corso actually were. I am reminded of what happened to the poor Paul Bennewitz who was fed a line of specious, albeit highly convincing, fiction from the US Air Force spe‐ cial investigation unit (AFOSI) concerning what he thought he was seeing above an airbase close to his home in New Mexico. In other words they told him exactly what he wanted to hear and as a result AFOSI (and other organisations) were able to conceal their own secret projects. It was case of hiding in plain sight, the aircraft in this case almost certainly experimental drones of one kind or another, or perhaps the precursors of remarkable aircraft like the F35 joint strike fighter currently serving with the US air force. Even here the use of such craft must be ultimately limited by the endurance of the pilots and
Ufology and the Grover’s Mill Syndrome ‐ By Brian Allan
the futures of attack and surveillance air‐ craft must surely fall within the possibilities offered by either satellite technology or even more advances versions of the drones that currently flit around our skies. The reason for the retention of manned aircraft must be due, in part at least, to the desire of the US Air Force to defend its budget against cuts etc. We should never forget that, especially in those days, the paranoia of the UFO groups was and probably still is equally matched by that of the intelligence agencies who watch them and pretty much set the agendas of what information is released and what is seen, although there is little doubt that this is not nearly as intense as it once was. This is why the Grover’s Mill Syndrome is still valid and why various government agencies will still use their influence to con‐ trol and shape what the public thinks and to some extent does. Ultimately it is who Ufol‐ ogy is still alive and well in the 21st century..

More Whistle Blowing? On October 10, Peter Maass and Laura Poitras writing for The Intercept, released more Powerpoint slides from leaked NSA documents concerning highly classified programs that are hidden from public scrutiny. The documents, originally leaked by Edward Snowden, reveal that “Sentry Eagle” is used as an umbrella term for hiding the NSA’s most sensitive programs that are classified “Exceptionally Controlled Infor‐ mation” (ECI). Several Powerpoint slides show how ECI programs are hid‐ den beneath less classified programs as a cover. The leaked documents support claims made 16 years earlier by Dan Sherman, another NSA whistleblower, who revealed that he worked in a secret communications program with alien (extraterrestrial) entities that was hidden beneath less classi‐ fied NSA programs as a cover. The Intercept article discusses a 13 page “brief sheet” about “Sentry Eagle”: “You are being indoctrinated on Sentry Eagle,” the 2004 document begins, before going on to list the most highly classified aspects of its various programs. It warns that the details of the Sentry Eagle programs are to be shared with only a “limited number” of people, and even then only with the approval of one of a handful of senior intelligence officials, including the NSA director. Among the leaked power point slides is a set called “Core Secrets Slide Slices.” These slides (see slideshow) reveal how ECI pro‐ grams are only made available to a few select individuals within the Intelligence Community with a strict need to know access. Two of the slides show how Sentry Eagle acts as an umbrella for hiding its most sensitive ECI programs under less classified programs. This supports the claims by Dan Sherman who worked for three years as an electronic intelli‐ gence specialist with the NSA. Dan Sherman served with the US Air Force for twelve years (1982‐1994), and received a number of awards including the Commendation Medal and the Achievement Medal. He revealed that he was recruited into a classified program, "Project Preserve Destiny" (PPD), that was conducted under the auspices of the National Security Agency (NSA). The training was for Sherman to become an “intuitive communicator” with extraterrestrial biological entities (EBEs). Essentially, Sherman would learn to telepathically interface with EBEs and pass on this information through a secure computer system to his handlers within the NSA. Sherman’s training for PPD was conducted at the same time while training for a conventional military career in electronic intelligence (ELINT), which itself was classified. Sherman described that his ELINT training acted as a cover for his participation in PPD that spanned a three year period (1991‐1994). In his book, Above Black: Project Preserve Destiny – Insider Account of Alien Contact and Govern‐ ment Cover‐Up (1998), Sherman revealed how he was recruited and trained in a way unknown to his normal ELINT military trainers. The training occurred over the same period as his normal training in ELINT. When he was subsequently assigned to the NSA, Sherman worked on a specially designed computer where he could perform both his normal ELINT work, and also work as an intuitive communicator with EBEs. This is how Sherman describes, in his 1998 book, the rational for hiding deep black alien related projects under the umbrella of a less classified program: When someone is assigned to an alien project they are also assigned to the collateral black mission (cover mission). One of the reason for this is if someone were to reveal any alien information, by extension, they would most likely reveal something about the cover project and it would be on this basis that someone would be prosecuted for divulging classified information. (p. IX). Sherman’s claim of working within a deep black project hidden within a less classified NSA project has been corroborated by the leaked NSA documents. “Sentry Eagle” operates precisely in the way described by Sherman’s account of his time working in two classified programs for the NSA from 1991 to 1994. The leaked NSA documents reveal that Sentry Eagle has six programs: 1. Sentry Hawk (for activities involving computer network exploitation, or spying), 2. Sentry Falcon (computer network defense), 3. Sentry Osprey (cooperation with the CIA and other intelligence agencies), 4. Sentry Raven (breaking encryption systems), 5. Sentry Condor (computer network operations and attacks), 6. Sentry Owl (collaborations with private companies). Sherman’s claims that he was recruited from the USAF for the NSA alien program while training as an ELINT specialist with the USAF suggests that Project Preserve Destiny was likely part of the Sentry Osprey program that involved cooperation between the NSA and other intelligence agencies. After officially retiring from the USAF and ending his classi‐ fied work with the NSA, Dan Sherman went public with his 1998 book in which he supplied documentation (see slideshow) of his training and work with the NSA as an electronic intelligence specialist. Sherman’s claim made 16 years ago that he worked in a highly classified ("above black") program hidden within a less classified NSA "black" program has not been corroborated until now with the leaked Snowden documents. Sherman’s claims suggest that within one or more of the NSA’s Sentry Eagle six compartments, there are ongoing alien (extraterrestrial) projects that are hidden within less classified NSA cover programs. Snowden is also said to have been responsible for leaking three slides of UFO images, however, according to Nigel Watson and numerous other ufologists, the images are old, well known and more than likely fake… (so… we are still none the wiser).

The glamorous burial grounds of the Hollywood Forever Cemetery opened for business in 1899, during the late Victorian Era. The cemetery at the time was known as Hollywood Memorial Park Cemetery and offered an earthly resting place for the young and beautiful of Tinseltown, as befitting their star status. 09
Hollywood Forever, Literally... ‐ By Pat Bussard
In England, the magnificent seven were developed in the 1830s and 1840s.These were incredibly gorgeous cities of the dead whose architects pulled much of their motif designs from the ancient Egyptians, who as history has proven, were experts in en‐ tombing bodies with an expectation of freshness forever. America had something nearly equally elegant in the Hollywood Memorial Park Cemetery, albeit 50 years later, whose main mausoleum was also richly sprinkled with images from an an‐ cient past that was not their own. As a bo‐ nus for each individual interred in this deathly quiet community, each has a view of the famous Hollywood sign, if they but could see the vista. Erected in 1923, the original sign read, “Hollywoodland.” What most don’t know about this iconic lettering is that it was originally a sign advertising a housing project. Since those many decades ago, the Hollywood sign has evolved to stand for the glitz, glamour, hopes, and fears of all those who set their sights on a career in a town so adept at creating mi‐ rages. It is a fitting universal headstone for all who lay waiting for what comes next, in the Elysian Fields of Fame known as the Hollywood Forever Cemetery. When I arrived at the funerary grounds, I was struck by the sheer number of monu‐ ments which feature engraved images of the departed. As if a picture of their loved one would elevate them to the status of a King Tut or another of the revered man‐ gods. In reality, it was a silent sea of faces set adrift on slabs of cold, hard stone. In a very real sense, this was more off‐putting than the squares that were in neat rows upon rows inside the mausoleum. This overpopulated, above ground crypt houses a number of dead. Most of these burial chambers hold people who lived ordinary lives and suffered ordinary deaths. But, amongst the ordinary walks the phantoms of those who lived lives most extraordinary. Rodolfo (Rudolph) Guglielmi Valentino, born on May 6, 1885 in Italy and baptized as Rodolfo Alfonso Raffaello Pierre Filibert Guglielmi di Valentina d'Antonguolla, was America’s first sex symbol. He was known for his magnetic on‐screen gaze and his charismatic siren pull of the fairer sex. He starred in a movie that put him on the minds and in the hearts of females across the land, “The Sheik.” It was a movie that would typecast him as the smoldering Latin lover leading man. Like superstars today, he was recognized by one name, Valentino. The irony is that Valentino’s love life basi‐ cally sucked. In 1919 he married little known actress, Jean Acker. Unfortunately, Valentino was unaware that his new love was a lesbian and so spent his wedding night locked out of the bridal suite. Even though the actual divorce did not happen until 1923, it is said that his marriage to Jean was one of the shortest on record, having lasted a mere six hours.
Valentino would come to know additional love and heartbreak during the rest of the short 31 years he spent on this planet. He would die in 1926 from peritonitis devel‐ oped after an operation for appendicitis and bleeding ulcers. His spirit has been spotted at many places he enjoyed while alive, including his home, Falcon Lair. Over 100,000 attended his funerals (he had two, one on the east coast and one on the west coast). It is said that the hysteria over his demise was so intense, that sev‐ eral women killed themselves rather than deal with a world devoid of the man known as “the great lover.” People broke windows trying to get into the church to be near the body of the once charismatic man. On the anniversary of his death, a woman who was totally dressed in black began leaving him red roses. This woman, called the lady in black, eventually became a sensation. Most believe that she was Ditra Flame (pronounced Fla‐may). When Ditra was young, Valentino who was a friend of her mother’s would go to visit her. She was very sick at the time. Valentino would encourage Ditra to get well and tell her that she would outlive him. He would also gift her during his visits with one red rose. Valentino told her that if he died first, he wanted her to come and visit him as he would not want to be alone. Ditra remem‐ bered his kindness to her and began visit‐ ing his final resting place in 1926 and did so for years, until the public glare became too much for her. She did visit once more before she passed away in 1984. But, other women have picked up the mantle and to this day a lady in black comes to visit the long‐dead actor. But, is she always of the living? Some think that Ditra continues to visit her friend. People have reported a woman in black kneeling in front of his burial cham‐ ber. Still others report that they return to his tomb within minutes and inexplicably, as no one has passed them, there will be fresh roses in the vases affixed to both 10
sides of the nameplate, which announces this as the last and final resting place of the great Valentino. Another who has made a ghostly reputation for himself within the confines of the cemetery includes the in‐ dustry scion William Randolph Hearst. It is said that Hearst still wonders around the tomb of his mistress Marion Davies, per‐ haps to check on her well‐being.
There are also other late stars gracing the grounds with their presences. If you hear a whistling you may encounter the specter of the actor Clifton Webb. That crying sound may be Virginia Rappe, who died of a ruptured bladder. The comedian and actor, Roscoe “Fatty” Arbuckle was ac‐ cused of her death, which took place on September 9, 1921. Although he was cleared, it ruined his career. There will certainly be more reports of the shades of famous stars strolling the grounds and mausoleums of this immaculately kept 60 acre burial site. Mickey Rooney, the im‐ mensely talented actor, joined the ranks of those who already populated this elegant boneyard in April of 2014. No one has re‐ ported seeing him...yet! A strange prejudice exists, even among some spiritually‐minded people, that great and miraculous events may have occurred in history, but do not happen now. And yet these are the most significant and danger‐ ous days we have ever lived through. If God exists – and I believe It does – Its pres‐ ence would certainly be felt today. And if the gods were ever to come among us – and I be‐ lieve they have throughout our history – this would surely be a time of their coming. Devout Hindus readily accept the existence of ‘vimanas’, the spacecraft in which gods trav‐ elled to the celestial regions to encounter other deities including the great avatar Sri Krishna. Tra‐ ditional Christians have taught for centuries that Jesus the son of God travelled to Earth in the Star of Bethlehem, which must have been some kind of space vehicle. And believers of several faiths do not question that Moses was met at the top of Mount Sinai by the Lord who descended in a cloud – surely a spacecraft – in order to inscribe the Ten Commandments upon the stone tablets. Our greatest spiritual teachers throughout the millennia have not only worked with divine beings but in the most significant of cases have themselves been avatars and gods who came to Earth. In addition to the above examples, I would add to the list: the Lord Buddha, Sri Patanjali, Sri Sankaracharya, Hercules, Sam‐ son, Saint Peter, Lao Tse, Confucius and others. But what of today? On May 8th, 1954 an Englishman by the name of George King was contacted by a God from Space in Lon‐ don. Just as Moses had been summoned to Mount Sinai by the voice of the Lord and Saint Paul heard the voice of Jesus on the road to Damascus, he heard clear audible words which were to change his life for‐ ever: “Prepare Yourself! You are to become the Voice of Interplanetary Parliament.” Dr. George King was no ordinary English‐ man. For the previous ten years he had devoted himself to the intensive practice of the little‐known, in those days, science of
yoga. Astral projection, mediumship, levi‐ tation, psychic self‐defence, magical invo‐ cation and especially healing were among the powers he had gained during this period. Perhaps even more miraculously he was able to keep his feet firmly on the ground and earn a living for himself, and
when necessary his parents too, in addi‐ tion to his daily yoga regime of eight hours a day. This type of single‐minded focus from his mid‐20s onwards is, as far as I know, unique, and it is hardly surpris‐ ing that by 1954 he had mastered the most advanced forms of yoga. I am often asked why one man should have been chosen for such a task from everybody on Earth. These credentials alone would answer such a question, and not just because of the specific training he gained which was to be essential to his mission. After all, what must it have taken in the climate of post‐war Britain, never mind today, to establish and maintain so disciplined a regime in order to fully real‐ ise your inner potential and attain the elevated states of enlightenment and samadhic consciousness! 13
The god who looked down upon him that day and spoke those words, knew exactly what made Dr. King tick. This intelligence had watched over the Earth for many cen‐ turies with a patience and compassion which is alien to us. The moment had come to activate one of his agents, who could not remotely be described as a sleeper but was nevertheless awakened by this call. For, although he never spoke of it in public, Dr. King was himself a cosmic avatar. He abandoned the healing work and the self‐ development programme he was engaged upon and turned his focus one hundred percent, twenty‐four hours a day, to‐ wards the directives of the cosmic masters, and especially of the one who had spoken to him on that sunny day in early May. This master was given the pseudonym ‘Aetherius’ and in a matter of weeks Dr. King was able to enter a sufficiently ele‐ vated yogic trance condition to be his medium. When speaking through him, The Master Aetherius adopted some of the vocal characteristics of an Ox‐ ford accent he had observed being used upon Earth. Thus he delivered, in an understated and almost conversational style, some of the most pro‐ found wisdom we have ever received upon Earth. For example, in a Transmission in 1955 he defined reality as follows: All complications fade and – because they do so – they change and are not the fig‐ ments of Reality. For Reality is the very essence of simplicity, and it never changes. In the same year he spoke of the true na‐ ture of love, through Dr. King to a public audience at the Caxton Hall in London: We look at you and say: ‘with the necessary change, you would become wonderful peo‐ ple, for there lies a great potential awaiting realisation.’ Your main job is to realise this potential and so avoid the unsafe rungs upon the ladder of evolution. The most unsafe of these is the wrong use of love – which is God’s great gift to you all. God is the Law – the Law is Love. And about war, he said:

forced to operate when helping our world. They cannot and will not cross the bounda‐ ries of the divine law, known in the East by the often misunderstood term ‘karma’. This precludes all our problems being solved by our cosmic saviours, for if they were we would learn absolutely nothing. We would just be a helpless people who, without lift‐ ing a finger for ourselves, have salvation offered to us on a plate. All too soon it would evaporate before our indolent gaze, leaving us even more impotent than we were before. The Master Aetherius put it this way: If we were to carry you all about in our arms, what good would you be to If you people this moment could have a hundred per cent faith in Truth, Light and Love, you could easily throw away all your weapons. You would still stand victors of the world and nothing could hurt you, noth‐ ing could ever destroy you. His communications went further than phi‐ losophical and scientific revelation. He taught spiritual practices which have changed the lives of thousands of people and he introduced cosmic missions to save our world. A Society was formed and named after this master, and sixty years on it is as active as ever around the globe. History was made on June 4th, 1955 at a public meeting in London when The Master Aetherius announced through Dr. King, who was in a deep samadhic trance condition, what he described as a Spiritual Push. He stated: During the seven week period which began on Saturday May 28th, 1955 at midnight all spiritual exercises will be greatly potentised. This will apply irrespective of class, colour, creed or religion. So began one of the major divine interven‐ tions of these days. The cosmic masters announced regular times, each one lasting several weeks, when a spacecraft known as Satellite Number Three comes into orbit of Earth. The controller of the spacecraft, Mars Sector 6, called these ‘Magnetisation Periods’. During these, spiritual energy is beamed down upon all those who perform selfless service, whether in the name of any religion or none, potentising it by a factor of 3,000. The dates of these for the next one thousand years were given to Dr. King in 1988 and are as follows: April 18th to May 23rd; July 5th to August 5th; September 3rd to October 9th, and November 4th to De‐ cember 10th. In each case they start at 12 midnight Greenwich Mean Time irrespec‐ tive of what country you are in. Thousands of people – not all of them Aetherius Soci‐ ety members – cooperate by increasing their spiritual output during these times, and many have tangibly felt their effect. This intervention shows clearly the limita‐ tions under which the gods from space are
yourselves or to anyone else? However, when terrestrial human beings do take action, no matter how insignificant it may seem, the masters can act and greatly enhance its potency. In the words of the Master Aetherius: For every step you take towards the Cosmic Masters, they will take two towards you. In another transmission, delivered by The Master Aetherius in 1958, he gave Dr. King information on how to build a physical apparatus for the radiation of spiritual energy. This was constructed and com‐ bined with some other apparatus which

had been designed by Dr. King, and the following year it was used in cooperation with Satellite No. 3 to send energy out to the world during Magnetisation Periods. Since then the design and manufacture of this equipment has been developed and refined, and today, there are five such Spiri‐ tual Energy Radiators operating in direct cooperation with the cosmic masters, both in Spiritual Pushes and outside of them in London, Los Angeles, Auckland, South York‐ shire and Michigan. Another wonderful example of their inter‐ vention followed a transmission from The Master Aetherius late in 1958 when he directed Dr. King to be at a particular loca‐ tion in Devon on July 23rd of that year. As always Dr. King followed this directive to the letter with complete faith in the one who had given it, whom he described as ‘infallible’. This led to a mission called Op‐ eration Starlight which would take him across various parts of Europe, America, New Zealand and Australia over a three year period, and in which eighteen moun‐ tains were charged with powerful cosmic energy. He had to climb each mountain, usually with a small team, and enter a deep meditative condition on or near the sum‐ mit. This balanced karma sufficiently for the mountains to be charged and indeed a nineteenth mountain in Africa was charged by terrestrial masters without the require‐ ment of his physical presence there. These nineteen mountains are:

Hundreds of pilgrims every year visit these mountains in order to send out far more spiritual energy to the world through prayer, mantra, healing and other spiritual practices than they would otherwise be able to do. This is another example of divine intervention which is accessible to all who are physically able and willing to make the effort to visit them. organisations. Our fiercest critics have also accepted the dedicated hard work of our staff and members for what we consider to be the good of the world as a whole. That extraordinary Command, delivered in the crisp tones of The Master Aetherius in May 1954, has led to ground‐breaking new missions and teachings to transform the world, leaving no doubt – at least for those of us who believe them to be genuine ‐ that this could accurately be described as The Age of Aetherius. Richard Lawrence is Executive Secretary for Europe of The Aetherius Society and is an international bestselling author. He co‐ authored the last book by Dr. George King to be published in his lifetime, Con‐ tacts with the Gods from Space, which entered a new edition last year. He will be speaking on ‘Avatars and Gods who came to Earth’ in Manchester on March 1st, Blackpool on March 28th, Glastonbury on April 15th and London on May 12th (for full details see Richard’s website).

It’s close to midnight. The new moon rides high in the sky, casting a menacing light upon the scene. Somewhere off in the distance an owl hoots hauntingly, its cries is the only sound to break the unnatural stillness of the night. A light rain falls from above, running like icy claws down your neck. You shiver almost uncontrollably, both from the chill and the terror seizing control of your mind as a misty form emerges from the darkness and stretches an ethereal arm out towards you... 17
Haunted Niagara ‐ By Andrew Hind and Maria Da Silva
Welcome to any one of countless chilling experiences from the numerous spooky locales across Niagara. These sites may seem innocuous during daylight hours, but once the sun dips below the horizon and shadows begin to stalk across the landscape they can take on a darker, creepier taint. That’s when ghosts and ghouls crawl out from their graves to frighten the unwary. Or so legend goes. The Niagara region of Ontario, Canada is unusually rich in haunted heritage, as we discovered while researching our book Ghosts of Niagara‐on‐the Lake. This article explores a handful of locations from across Niagara where the afterlife intrudes upon the mortal world, with chilling results. IMAX Theatre It’s difficult to single out one Niagara Falls attraction as the most interesting in town, but the IMAX Theatre must surely rank among the handful of must‐sees. And cheerful appearances aside, it’s also a place with a few haunting mysteries imbedded within its walls.
while attempting to go over the Horse‐ shoe Falls. It’s hard to imagine what horrors the ill‐ fated daredevil endured while trapped with the barrel’s claustrophobic confines. With impenetrable darkness surrounding him and the roar of falling water drowning out all other sounds, his mind would have slowly unraveled. Did he claw furiously at the wood before suffocating, or shout desperately in the vain hope that some‐ one could hear? Perhaps these final tor‐ tured moments are what cause George’s spirit to remain tied to the barrel and consequently to roam the IMAX Theatre, where the barrel rests today. Despite the horrible way in which he died, George seems to be a mischievous entity without malice. He sometimes plays pranks upon those who find themselves alone in the projection room by making odd noises that have no identifiable source. One projectionist we spoke to noted he often felt uneasy in the dark‐ ened room, as if there was an unseen presence lurking somewhere just out of sight. Once, he thought he saw someone in the room with him, a figure who myste‐ riously melted into the shadows. The Screaming Tunnel Ghostly tales concerning the Screaming Tunnel abound. So much so that the for‐ mer railway tunnel, located in a secluded spot off Warner Road, is one of the most widely recognized haunted locations in Niagara Falls. People talk about the severe chills that descend upon them suddenly, making hairs stand up on arms and necks, and of mournful sobs echoing from some unde‐ termined point.
At night, when the crowds have left and the building becomes eerily empty and silent, a ghost emerges to prowl the halls and startle unsuspecting staff members. There’s little doubt about the identity of this spirit: ill‐ fated stuntman George Stathakis. On July 5 1930, George Stathakis, a 46 year old self‐styled mystic who believed himself to have been born thousands of years ear‐ lier, went over the Falls in a reinforced wooden barrel in search of enlightenment and truth. The eccentric philosopher was convinced a trip over the Falls would open a threshold into a world beyond our normal understanding. Stathakis never found what he was looking for. Instead, he suffocated when his barrel submerged for 18‐hours, becoming the second person to perish 18
There is often a thick smell clinging to the air, sometimes described as the stench of decay, other times as the odor of smoke, but always intense enough to leave peo‐ ple gagging for fresh air. Merely stepping into the tunnel subjects you to a sense of overwhelming sadness. But of course the most common occurrences are the heart‐ rending screams of ageless suffering that leave witnesses quivering in fear. According to folklore, a young girl burned to death within the tunnel’s darkened confines and it is her tortured wails that people hear. There are numerous varia‐ tions of how the girl came to die here. Some suggest she ran screaming and on fire from her burning home, finally col‐ lapsing in the tunnel where she died in terrible pain. Others say she was the prize in a bitter custody battle between an es‐ tranged husband and wife. When the husband learned the judge had ruled against him, he killed the helpless child and in a final fit of anger lit the still‐warm corpse aflame. Yet another variation holds that the girl was raped inside the tunnel and that her body was burned in order to cover up the terrible crime. All of these stories allege that if you stand in the middle of the tunnel at midnight and light a match, the flame will instantly be extinguished and the darkness split by

spine‐chilling screams. This ghostly girl has been stranded here for almost a century now, reliving her final moments of terror and pain. Perhaps her passing was so trau‐ matic that her spirit has imbedded itself within the cold, dripping walls of the tunnel and will remain as long as the structure stands. St. Mark’s Anglican Church In the historic town of Niagara‐on‐the‐Lake, ghosts from the past roam the streets on equal footing with the tourists. And no‐ where do they seem closer than in the cemetery behind St. Mark’s Anglican Church. During the War of 1812 this historic church was pressed into service as a mili‐ tary hospital.
began to play‐out before Jennifer’s eyes. She watched in horror as the soldier lost his legs to the surgeon’s axe. His gut‐ wrenching cries nearly brought her to tears. The scene ended, bringing Jennifer back to reality, when the soldier closed his eyes, released his final breath, and suf‐ fered no more. But even with the War of 1812 behind her, Jennifer couldn’t escape the lingering effects of the terrible scene. She felt the presence of the now long‐dead soldier standing nearby, and realized he was doomed to search forever for his lost limbs and lost life. He has stood guard over his country for nearly two centuries now, a spectral sentinel defending Niag‐ ara‐on‐the Lake from a non‐existent foe.
Among the most common wounds tended there were limbs shattered by bullets and infected with gangrene. Surgeons had no recourse but amputate if lives were to be saved. Deep gouges left by the surgeon’s axe can still be seen etched in several flat tombstones that served as operating beds. Undoubtedly, many soldiers never recov‐ ered from the primitive surgery. They would have been buried nearby. With all the pain and suffering linked with the cemetery, is it any wonder that tormented souls linger here? Many shocked witnesses have seen ghostly soldiers walking amidst the weathered tombstones. Others have seen ghost lights that cast an eerie glow in an already unset‐ tling setting, or heard disembodied, ear‐ piercing screams of sheer agony. One unsettling encounter occurred on a gloomy autumn morning with cold mist hanging in the air. Two tourists, Jennifer and Matt, decided to explore the historic cemetery. It didn’t take long to locate one of the scarred tombstones. Suddenly, ago‐ nizing cries cut through the drizzle and the image of a soldier undergoing amputation
Pillar and Post Niagara‐on‐the‐Lake’s Pillar and Post Inn incorporates a historic structure that was originally built as a fruit canning factory in the late 19th century. But despite its hum‐ ble beginnings, the Pillar and Post has been voted the best hotel in Canada and
of a young girl among the tables, her sim‐ ple outdated dress so at odds with the refined setting. They’re even more startled when she fades from sight a few seconds later. One of the hallmarks of the restau‐ rant are the large pillars throughout its dining area, and it’s not at all uncommon for staff to walk around one of these pillars and pass through an ethereal girl standing behind it. “It was late at night, approaching midnight on Halloween, when I saw a little girl standing beside the pillar right in front of the fireplace”, remembers Dining Room Supervisor Bill Putman, a level‐headed and rational man. “She was 4 feet tall and sur‐ rounded by a gold silhouette‐‐‐the same color as the flames in the fireplace. She was perfectly clear to me and remained 10 to 15 seconds, growing brighter with each passing second, before fading off into the wood of the pillar. I saw her four times since, always between 11:45 and Midnight on Halloween. She is also seen on the res‐ taurant just outside the restaurant. People say she sits on the landing half‐way, but won’t come all the way down.” No one knows who this little girl might be, but she’s as much a part of the Pillar and Post experience as the trademark 100 Fountain Spa, the luxurious guestrooms, or the fine‐ dining Carriages and Cannery restaurant.

happens to be Ontario’s only five‐star country inn. It’s so beautiful, in fact, so hospitable and comfortable that some guests simply don’t want to check out. But that’s alright by the staff; they consider the resident ghosts to be part of the inn’s charm. The Carriages and Cannery restau‐ rant is definitely the spectral hotspot. One can image how staff and diners would be taken aback by the sudden materialization 19

‘I believe this document has huge implications not only for the Rendlesham Forest incident but Ufology in general: An absolutely MUST READ’. ‐ Steve Mera.

Last year, I was awarded the 2014 MUFON Symposium to manage in July of 2014 and we held it outside of Philadelphia in Cherry Hill, NJ. I gave a lot of thought to the theme of the event and selected “UFOs and the Media”. I thought it was a very pertinent topic and also knowing the mentality of people on the east coast, I knew they needed a topic and speak‐ ers with showmanship as opposed to boring scien‐ tific reviews. I researched the topic for my lecture and here is what I pre‐ sented on why the media has failed in its responsibil‐ ity to cover UFOs properly. When you listen to Presi‐ dent John F. Kennedy’s 1961 speech on secret societies, you have to wonder what the young President had discovered. His speech sends chills through my spine every time I listen to it. Kennedy said, “We decided long ago that the dangers of concealment of pertinent facts far out way the dan‐ gers cited to justify it. There is a grave danger that an announcement for increased security will be ceased upon for censor‐ ship and concealment. No one should censor the news, stifle dissenters or withhold from the press and public the facts they deserve to know. There is a conspiracy which relies on covert means. Preparations are concealed not published. Mistakes are buried not head‐ lined. Its dissenters are silenced, not praised. No expenditure is questioned, no secret is revealed.” Those are powerful words which we can view in a different light 53 years later. I next moved on to review my appearance on the highly edited Anderson Cooper show in April of 2012. The show actually aired on Tuesday April 24th ten days after it was taped and of course they edited out my best responses to skeptic Joe Nickell. They did not edit out anything that Joe said. They did edit out the audience’s laughter when Joe said the witnesses saw Jupiter.
Edited out was my response that regres‐ sive hypnosis is a tool we use which is no different than a polygraph and that Joe Nickell has no medical background. Edited out was my statement that the witnesses showed courage and integrity, which
received applause from the entire audi‐ ence. Edited out was my analogy that the 12 witnesses to these 2 cases could make up a jury yet they would be believed in‐ side the courtroom but not outside the courtroom if they witnessed a UFO. Edited out was my statement that we kept the stealth fighter a secret for 12 years when asked how the government can keep this a secret. Edited out was my response that whole ‘punch clouds’ only occur during freezing temperatures and it was 53 at O’Hare airport for that sighting. The skeptic received twice as much air‐ time and the last word on the show. The shows website had nine pages of com‐ ments; more than any other show that they have done. 21
All the comments were against the skeptic and psychic. I should’ve known the pro‐ ducer was playing me when he said he was a UFO fan but yet never heard of Project Blue Book or the 1952 UFO wave over DC. They introduced a psychic medium to mini‐ mize the seriousness of the show. Just like Project Blue Book and following the Brookings Institute’s recommendations to not tell the truth regarding UFOs, the outcome was predetermined. I read this quote on PAKALERT News last week, “Do you ever get the feeling that the mainstream media is feed‐ ing you a very watered‐ down and twisted version of the news? Do you ever get the feeling that the government does not be‐ lieve that the American people can actually be trusted with the truth? It is exasperating to realize that the news that the public is being fed every single day is very heavily filtered and very heavily censored. In a world where “spin” is everything, simply telling the truth is a revolutionary act. Fortunately, the Internet has helped fuel the rise of the alternative media, and millions of Americans that are starting to wake up are turning to the alternative media for answers to their unanswered questions”. Internet news is a problem also but it is situations like this that convince me that there is a conspiracy to discredit Ufology and only make my belief stronger in it. One comment I made of significance was that the government monitors every cell phone call, text, email and website. Ander‐ son disagreed. I had just read an article in March 2012 in “Wired Magazine” regard‐ ing the NSA monitoring center in Utah. I also referenced this in my book “Apophis 2029” on page 131. When the story broke in the spring of 2013, every media outlet and Congress‐person denied knowledge of what the NSA was doing. How is that possi‐ ble when the story was in Wired and my book the previous year?
UFOs and the Media ‐ By John Ventre
Are they all lying, incompetent or just in bed with the intelligence community? I next reviewed the state of the media in America. During WW2, our media and the Pentagon were working together to protect the Manhattan Project and that working arrangement stayed in place when UFOs started to menace Washington DC. I men‐ tioned a study which cited that 45% of peo‐ ple believe 100% of what is said by an au‐ thority figure; 30% believe 90% which means 75% believe everything they are told and only 25% question what they are told. According to recent Pew and Gallop re‐ search, ratings at CNN, MSNBC and Fox were down 11% while more importantly, it was down in the key 25‐54 age bracket by 59% at CNN and 52% at MSNBC. Newspaper ad revenue was down 33%. The public had lost faith in the media which is heavily con‐ trolled by political parties and corporations. Mainstream media should start by telling the truth. News agencies should not have ratings which promote commentaries and sensationalism. If you want to know what’s going on in America, watch the BBC. I next reviewed the SyFy Channel’s “Joe Rogan Investigates Everything” show, which aired in August 2013. Rogan said he be‐ lieves there is life in space, but he needs to see proof they have visited earth. That’s the same line Anderson Cooper used. He con‐ stantly related UFO witnesses to drug users and said all UFO cases occur at night so they must be dreams. Rogan also said that people live boring lives and UFO contact gives their lives importance. Rogan had his mind made up before he investigated, but one has to wonder who did the research for him. Rogan should stick with the UFC and not UFOs. The media jumped on the Ray Santilli Alien Autopsy charade in 1995 and Hollywood came to the aid of the SETI (Search For Extraterrestrial Intelligence) organization who needed $5M in donations to keep operating. Hollywood makes mil‐ lions from sci‐fi movies which resulted in 8 of their top 30 grossing movies. but donate nothing to MUFON. Jodi Foster led the do‐ nors with a $250K donation to SETI who searches for radio waves which break up into white noise while MUFON can prove they are already here. You also have to wonder if you can believe the media or are some news items written before they occur. The more important question is what do you believe and why do you believe it? The O.J. Simpson trial made CNN. Political campaigns are vastly exagger‐ ated. Some video is re‐enacted for the news. Seventy years ago, the rescuing of passengers from the Lusitania was staged for the news. It was filmed in a lake with actors and life preservers. Take a look at the faces in a crowd the next time CNN shows you live footage from a Middle East incident.
Everyone is angry in the front two rows, but everyone is smiling behind them be‐ cause it is reenacted. Who killed Ken‐ nedy? One shooter and two bullets cre‐ ated seven wounds. Was Flight 93 shot down? Did the World Trade Center Build‐ ing 7 collapse on its own or was it a con‐ trolled detonation? Climatologists believe Climate Change is caused by humans, yet Meteorologists say it is caused by the sun. Where were the WMDs in Iraq? What happened in Benghazi? What really hap‐ pened to Malaysian Flight 370? It turned west then south with no distress signals or debris found yet U.S. and Chinese military satellites were monitoring the area. Is the stock market being price fixed the past year way beyond the effects of Tapering and why did seven Bankers aged under fifty commit suicide in January of this year? Did you really believe that Barry Bonds, Mark McGuire and Sammy Sosa were hitting all those home runs legiti‐ mately? Has some of our $17T debt been used to build an off‐world space program? Are we just “sheepeople” living in “miceland” since 75% of you believe eve‐ rything they are told? Did you know that corporations and the government hire web trolls to sway public opinion on social media and in chat rooms? They reply to you with propaganda! If you repeat a lie often enough, three out of four people will believe it: the Nazi’s proved that. "What you see depends on what you thought before you looked. Change the way you look at things and the things you look at change.” Should we blame the media who is driven by ratings and have given us shows like Honey Booboo and Wife Swap or have they been duped? It’s no longer, “All the news that’s fit to print” but has become a commentary. I do be‐ lieve that the Hangar 1 UFO show will change opinions even though every sta‐ tion now has a UFO show. Only Hangar 1 is based on real UFO files; the MUFON files. All other shows are based on the internet or third party info. 22
I next asked the audience, “What was the most significant event in UFO history? Of course they replied with “Roswell”. Wrong, the most significant event was the 1938 ‘panic broadcast’. (This comment refers to a radio broadcast of H.G Well’s ‘War of the Worlds’ by Orson Wells and the Mercury Theatre of The Air, which cased consider‐ able hysteria and panic among sections of the public. This was mainly because people tuning in late to the show missed the dis‐ claimer broadcast before the show began and assumed it was real. Ed) It set the tone for non‐disclosure for the next 75 years and was referenced in the Brookings Insti‐ tutes “Implications of Extraterrestrial Con‐ tact” study as one reason why you can’t tell the public the truth. The CIA also cites the public’s reaction to ETs in this event as a reason why they can never tell us the truth. Did you know in an October 13, 1996 interview with Cardinal Ratzinger regarding the third secret of Fatima, he said, “When one reads that the oceans will flood entire portions of land; that human beings will die in minutes, and in millions, then one should not desire publication of the secret. Knowledge means responsibility. It is dan‐ gerous when one only wishes to satisfy his curiosity, if he is not prepared to do some‐ thing about his discovery, or if he is con‐ vinced we can do nothing to prevent prophesized disasters from happening.” That is a policy statement that all govern‐ ments implement regarding events they can’t control. Now it’s time to discuss the C.I.A. which acts as a gatekeeper of the UFO cover‐up. The release of 1000’s of C.I.A. UFO docu‐ ments in 1978 exposed the fact that Major Keyhoe, Captain Ruppelt and Admiral Hil‐ lenkoetter and others were replaced on NICAP’s Board by C.I.A. agents in the late 60’s. The CIA agents paid themselves sala‐ ries and expenses that bankrupted the UFO organization in 1980 that did so much in the 60’s to offset the lies of Project Blue Book. “The most effective way of changing the structure of society is to do it silently.
UFOs and the Media ‐ By John Ventre
Manage the media and you can change everything; as long as you do it covertly. No announcement is made, just a simple policy change”.
The C.I.A. got involved in 1953 with the Robertson Panel and their conclusion was to discredit, debunk and infiltrate UFO groups. They also recommended that school children should not receive a grade on book reports involving UFOs. Walter Cronkite hosted a CBS TV special organized by the C.I.A. to debunk UFOs. The Project Blue Book years were marked by the most fascinating spy drama that pitted the C.I.A. sponsored Blue Book and Dr Condon along with J. Allen Hynek against the public and NICAP led by Major Donald Keyhoe, Admiral Hillenkoetter, Captain Ruppelt and later Dr James MacDonald and Leonard Stringfield. NICAP’s efforts to get Congressional hear‐ ings were constantly thwarted by the secre‐ tive C.I.A. and eventually lead to the resig‐ nation of Ruppelt and Hillenkoetter from NICAP on the eve of possible Congressional hearings and the eventual infiltration of NICAP by C.I.A. agents and NICAP’s demise. Even APRO, a Midwest UFO organization, was under surveillance and infiltration by the C.I.A. and also closed up shop. On Feb‐ ruary 17 1954, the C.I.A. and the Military Air Transport Service met with airlines officials and imposed military restrictions on com‐ mercial pilot UFO reporting wherein they were subject to espionage laws and a $10,000 fine and 10 years in prison for dis‐ cussing UFOs with the media or public. On January 22 1958, CBS pulled the live feed on Major Keyhoe when he said UFOs are under intelligent control. A newspaper article was mailed to me with a note saying that, “This is how it is done” but it is also an example of the media trying to do its job. “The top U.S. special operations com‐ mander, Admiral McRaven, ordered military files about the Navy Seal raid on Osama bin Laden’s hideout to be purged from Defense Department computers and sent to the C.I.A. where they could be more easily shielded from the public. The secret move set off no alarms in the Obama administra‐ tion even though it side‐stepped federal rules and the Freedom of Information Act.
Secretly moving the records allowed the Pentagon to tell the Associated Press that it couldn’t find any documents inside the Defense Department that the Associated Press had requested more than two years earlier and would represent a NEW strat‐ egy for the U.S. government to shield even its most sensitive activities from public scrutiny. “Welcome to the new shell game in place of open government”. The C.I.A. has special authority to prevent the release of “operational files” in ways that can’t be challenged in federal court. The Defense Department told the AP in March 2012 that it could not locate any photographs or video taken during the raid or showing bin Laden’s body. It also said it could not find any images of bin Laden’s body on the U.S.S. Carl Vinson, the aircraft carrier from which he was buried at sea. The Pentagon also said it could not find any death certificate, au‐ topsy report or results of DNA tests for bin Laden. It said it searched files at the Pen‐ tagon, Special Operations HQ and Navy command. The Pentagon also refused to confirm or deny the existence of helicop‐ ter maintenance logs even though one of the stealth helicopters that carried the SEALs in Pakistan crashed during the mis‐ sion and its wreck was left behind.” To top it off, Seal Team 6 dies a year later in an old clunker Chinook helicopter and is not allowed to return fire with the enemy. All the witnesses are gone and that is a crime! Everyone in the world knows that this event took place, but now we have created a conspiracy concerning why there are no records of the event. When I hear that the Roswell and Kecksburg files were lost or the two missing minutes from Apollo 11 were lost, I have to think they are in the same room with the bin Laden killing. The C.I.A. operates as a separate entity from the U.S. government. They imported cocaine into the U.S. in the 1980’s, set up and ruin lives or kill people who are deemed a threat and create dis‐ information and propaganda that topple governments or cause rebellions. Kennedy was preparing to take on the C.I.A. right before his assassination. But in a per‐ verted sort of way, the C.I.A. does all of this to protect you and I because we don’t know and have never been told the truth about the real world we live in. The Air Force wanted to tell the public the truth about UFOs, but didn’t know how to and the C.I.A. concluded that the public can never be told! These events take place because the average person believes eve‐ rything they are told; is more interested in playing with their smart phone, eating at MacDonald’s and wondering about who is appearing on Dancing with the Stars. Now let’s take a look at the scientific com‐ munity. Scientists are funded to find a 23
predetermined outcome. When they solve it their funding stops. What are the chances of curing diseases if it makes you unemployed? We have only cured two diseases or plagues; polio and smallpox. That’s it! Why would SETI ever admit that “They” are here when it would put an end to their donations? The funny thing about scientists is every 20 years they change what they told you, but they are com‐ pletely stubborn with paradigms with their own field of study. Take evolution or out of place archeological finds. Evolution is a theory or philosophy. All the evidence for it can fit on your dining room table. All modern finds are back dated to fit the evolution model. I believe I came from a more superior creature, not a baboon! When archeologists find something that doesn’t fit like a gold chain or vase in a 250,000 year old coal deposit, they say it was planted there or they disregard it. I don’t believe that we have the kind of science that can solve the UFO enigma. So has the media done its due diligence? No. Has the C.I.A? Yes. Has the scientific com‐ munity? No. I think the media has been duped by the C.I.A. into believing UFOs are a joke. There are no phone calls made anymore to kill a story; it’s just par for the course to laugh at UFOs unless you can produce a body or craft. Only the media has the power to change this soft cover up even though the C.I.A. thinks it has this one 99% licked. Remember; pay no attention to the man behind the curtain and it is dangerous to be right on matters in which the established authorities are wrong.

Randy ghosts prowl Welsh roads to seduce drivers, paranormal author claims.
AIR FORCE UFO FILES HIT THE WEB
By Hayley Coyle of the Mirror
The fabled Project Blue Book, the Air Force's files on UFO sightings and investi‐ gations, have tantalized and frustrated extraterrestrial enthusiasts for decades. But this week, nearly 130,000 pages of declassified UFO records — a trove that would make Agent Fox Mulder's mouth water — hit the web.
Ghostly erotica writer Gavin Davies claims he was approached by a man who had been wooed by a saucy ghost. Sexy hitchhiking ghosts could be seducing lonely travelers on a busy road near Swansea, a paranormal investigator has claimed. Gavin Davies, the author of Ghost Sex, says he is looking into a se‐ ries of nightmarish incidents where unsuspecting drivers are lured into sex situations with good‐looking ghouls. One of them involved a local man who told Mr Davies he was tricked by a figure disguised as a beautiful woman hitchhiking on the A40. He said: "I was approached by a man who did not want to be identified because it could expose him to ridicule, who told me he picked up a hitchhiker who turned out to be a ghost that seduced him, Wales Online reports. "Now, I’m aware that stuff like this is often intended as erot‐ ica and people have fantasies about it. And at first I thought it was a wind up call. But this man genuinely believed he was seduced by a paranormal entity. "He said that he was driving back from a date that hadn't gone as planned. "He saw a beautiful woman on the side of the road and he picked her up." According to Wales Online Mr Davies said the man, known as "John", then pulled over and took the mysterious woman into a public toilet. He said the ghost then ravished John in terms too graphic to describe. The man then told Mr Davies: "Then I started to smell something strange, at first I thought it was like a cigarette smell. "I was choking, and I thought I was going to die. I was crying and everything. I was passing out. "I just wanted a policeman to start banging on the window and save me. "I pushed her back with all my force and there was not a pretty girl on me but some haggard, disgusting old woman with some kind of awful skin condition. "I just screamed and screamed and she just vanished." Mr Davies said he believes the man could have been affected by sleep paralysis after nodding off.
The truth is out there - and it's now on the web. By Stephen Losey of the Air Force Times.
complete files have been posted in PDF form in a searchable database, he said.
UFO enthusiast John Greenewald has spent nearly two decades filing Free‐ dom of Information Act requests for the government's files on UFOs and other phenomena. On Jan. 12, Greenewald posted the Blue Book files — as well as files on Blue Book's 1940s‐era predeces‐ sors, Project Sign and Project Grudge — on his online database, The Black Vault.
The more than 10,000 cases include a 1950 incident at Holloman Air Force Base in Alamogordo, New Mexico, where an Air Force Office of Special Investigations agent reported a star‐like craft that shifted from a bright white color to red and green as it moved er‐ ratically in several directions.
Project Blue Book was based at Wright‐ Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio. Be‐ tween 1947 and 1969, the Air Force recorded 12,618 sightings of strange phenomena ‐‐ 701 of which remain "unidentified." According to a 1985 fact sheet from Wright‐Patterson, posted online by the National Archives, the Air Force decided to discontinue UFO investigations after concluding that "no UFO reported, investigated and evaluated by the Air Force has ever given any indication of threat to our national security [and] there has been no evidence indicating that sightings categorized as 'unidentified' are extraterrestrial vehi‐ cles." Wright‐Patterson also said the Air Force has not seen any evidence sug‐ gesting the sightings "represent techno‐ logical developments or principles be‐ yond the range of present‐day scientific knowledge." Skeptics smelled a whitewash. The private and now‐defunct National Inves‐ tigations Committee on Aerial Phenom‐ ena, for example, charged throughout the 1960s that the federal government was covering up what it knew about UFOs and pushed for congressional hearings. The National Archives has made these files available to public on microfilm in its Washington headquar‐ ters. Parts of the Project Blue Book files have previously been posted online in various locations, Greenewald said. But his webpage is the first time the
And in 1965, Air Force Maj. Jack Bond, the deputy for reconnaissance at the Directorate of Advanced Recon Plan‐ ning, reported seeing an unidentified object moving in a sine wave pattern while on a flight out of Wright‐ Patterson. Bond said the object strongly reflected the sunlight as it rose and appeared gray as it descended. It rose and fell three times at varying speeds, before leveling off and accelerating away at more than 600 knots. The investigator dismissed Bond's ob‐ servation as a mirage caused by the sun, due to the motion of Bond's plane and the hazy atmospheric conditions. One thing you won't find online are records related to the alleged 1947 Roswell, New Mexico, incident, where conspiracy theorists maintain the military recov‐ ered a crashed alien spacecraft and its occupants. But Roswell does pop up several times in the files. There are several blurry photographs of lights in the sky taken at Roswell in 1949, for example. And in 1950, airmen there spotted a circular object 10 feet in di‐ ameter with a bluish‐white color going fast at 8,000 feet and taking a sharp turn to the right. The National Archives maintains it "has been unable to locate any documentation among the Project BLUE BOOK records which discuss the 1947 incident in Roswell, New Mexico." But that is just what they would say, wouldn't they?... It would seem that no matter how many records become released we are no nearer the truth...

Sleep paralysis is a condition where the victim feels wide awake but is unable to move a muscle. It is often accompanied by delusions of being watched by a menacing presence. "In the renaissance era they believed that the paralysis was caused by succubi, who would seduce people while they were asleep," Mr. Davies said. His book “Ghost Sex” has already sold 3,000 copies online and topped supernatural charts on the Amazon Kindle store. He is also the editor of Paranormal Chronicles, a website that looks into suspected sight‐ ings of ghosts and UFOs. Mr. Davies said: "Writing this book has taken its toll on me. "This is just one account, and many of the others are far more graphic and quite traumatic to research. "It is certainly the last time I will write a book about ghost sex." Jurassic shark! Fishing trawler crew discover terrifying prehistoric beast with 300 teeth among their catch.
WE COME IN PEACE
By Louise Cheer of the Daily Mail: Australia A group of fishermen got quite a shock when they pulled a terrifying prehis‐ toric shark from the water near Lakes Entrance in Victoria's east. The dark brown, eel‐like looking creature is a frilled shark, also known as the 'living fossil', and was named for its six pairs of frill‐like gills along with its dorsal fins, similar to the predatory fish. The shark's origin dates back 80 million years and is only one of two species still alive from this period. South East Trawl Fishing Association (SETFA) chief executive Simon Boag told the ABC the men who found the shark were puzzled by their find. 'It has 300 teeth over 25 rows, so once you're in that mouth, you're not coming out,' he said. 'Good for dentists, but it is a freaky thing. I don't think you would want to show it to little children before they went to bed.' Mr. Boag said this was the first sighting of the species alive by humans. 'It does look 80 million years old. It looks prehistoric, it looks like it's from another time,' he said. The shark that was pulled from the water was two metres long and caught at 700 me‐ tres. Usually the species is found deeper at 1,500 metres but it rare to find them below 1,200 metres, according to the SETFA website. Mysterious flying object was filmed from a back garden in North Tyneside. Craig Lowther was letting his dog out when he saw the flashing light. The 43‐year ‐old captured it on his video camera as it hovered in night sky.

The shark has a dorsal, pelvic and anal fins towards the back end of its body. Its long and flexible jaw means it can ingest its prey whole while its teeth clamps down and keeps its food from escaping its clutches. The specimen was offered to the CSIRO but was not taken in. It is understood the shark has been sold off, the ABC reported.
Mystery flash far beyond the Milky Way. Could it be ET? Astronomers investigate flash of radio waves that originated 5.5 billion light years away By Fione Macrae for the Daily Mail An alien signal has been picked up by astronomers. The source of the flash of radio waves is unknown, leading to speculation that it came from a giant celestial flare, an imploding star – or maybe from an alien civilisation. The mystery signal originated up to 5.5billion light years away, far beyond the Milky Way. It lasted just a fraction of a second – yet may have given off as much energy in that time as the Sun does in an entire day. A handful of these ‘fast radio bursts’ have been discovered before by sifting the through old data. Now, scientists using a giant radio telescope in New South Wales have captured one tearing through space in real time. John Mulchaey, of The Carnegie Observatories, in Pasadena, California, said: ‘These events are one of the biggest mysteries in the Universe. Until now, astronomers were not able to catch one of these events in the act.’ Researcher Emily Petroff said: ‘For the project we had the telescope pointed at the location where one of the previous bursts from the data sets was recorded. ‘It’s so exciting to know a similar occurrence has happened in the proximity of the first. 'Fast radio bursts only last as long as it takes a human to blink their eye. That is what makes this discovery so exciting.’
UFO SNAPPED BY PASSENGER ON AIRCRAFT
Are there UFOs above Parliament House? Strange aircraft captured streaking across the sky in Canberra By Freya Noble of the Daily Mail: Australia. Possible explanations for the phenomenon include giant flares from distant stars or imploding neutron stars – small, particularly dense stars. Some may even speculate that the signal has been beamed out by an aliens in another world. Whatever the source, identifying it is only a matter of time, The Royal Astronomical Society’s Monthly Notices says. Miss Petroff, who made the find while studying for her PhD, said: ‘We’ve set the trap. Now we just have to wait for another burst to fall into it.’
Footage showing a strange object streaking across the sky beneath a jet plane has emerged, prompting ques‐ tions about what the other aircraft could be. Filmed a few years ago but released this week, the video ‐ which was uploaded to YouTube ‐ shows the

Posted by Finding UFO, a group whose aim is to spot unidentified flying objects across Australia, the footage shows a small white disc zooming across the sky in the blink of an eye through the airspace above Canberra. Images showing that the British Beagle 2 space probe landed successfully on Mars 12 years ago are set to be revealed, a scientist who worked on the project has said.
Martian lander discovered after being lost for 12 years. By Mail Online Press Association Images showing that the British Beagle 2 space probe landed successfully on Mars 12 years ago are set to be re‐ vealed, a scientist who worked on the project has said. David Rothery, profes‐ sor of planetary geosciences at the Open University, said he believed pic‐ tures will be published today proving that the spacecraft's lander successfully touched down on the Red Planet in 2003 but that a malfunction prevented it from beaming information back to Earth. The UK Space Agency says it will provide an "update" on the ill‐fated craft, which vanished while attempting a Christmas Day landing on the planet, but would not discuss in advance what will be revealed. Prof Rothery said he expected the pictures, which he has not yet seen, will show the probe "partially deployed" after landing successfully. The lander resembled a giant pocket watch that folded out to deploy its instruments and solar panels. He said: "What I think we are going to have revealed tomorrow is pictures showing Beagle 2 on the ground, what is thought to be Beagle 2 on the ground. "It looks like they (the panels) didn't all open." He added: "I regard it as being more successful than we perhaps though 12 years ago when we lost it. "It would be nice to know if it landed close to where we think it did." Named in honour of Charles Darwin's famous ship, Beagle 2 was a unique space mission in that it was largely funded by private donations and money raised by promotional cam‐ paigns led by the late Professor Colin Pillinger. The probe was carried by the Mars Express spacecraft, which was blasted into pace by a Russian rocket from Kazakhstan in June 2003. The mission's call‐sign was composed by the Britpop band Blur, and the "test card" used to calibrate the probe's cameras and spectrometer instruments after the landing was painted by Damien Hirst. It was scheduled to put down in a near‐ equatorial region of Mars known as Isidis Planitia on December 26. But after detaching from the Mars Express and heading for the surface it was not heard from again. Despite its small size and shoestring cost Beagle 2 contained some sophisticated hardware. Elements of its miniaturised technology will be employed on ExoMars, the European rover that will be sent to Mars to search for signs of life in 2018. Professor An‐ drew Coates, who worked on Beagle 2 and now works on ExoMars, said that if Beagle was shown to have landed suc‐ cessfully it would be "an important moment in space exploration" and would provide closure for the team that
worked on it. Physicist Prof Coates, who works at University College London's Mullard Space Science Laboratory in Surrey, said: "We were always wonder‐ ing what happened with Beagle. The difficulty was that we had no informa‐ tion. "The last we saw of it was Decem‐ ber 19, that was when it separated from the Mars Express. We had a great party which showed the image of Beagle 2 leaving and going in the right direction to its landing. The next we had expected to hear from it was on Christmas Day morning after a successful landing. The image of Beagle on the surface will tell us so much more than we know al‐ ready."
In the above image provided by NASA an annotated image shows a bright feature interpreted as the United King‐ dom's Beagle 2 Lander with solar arrays at least partially deployed on the sur‐ face of Mars. Beagle 2 was released by the European Space Agency's Mars Express orbiter but never heard from after its expected Dec. 25, 2003, land‐ ing. This and other images from the High Resolution Imaging Science Experi‐ ment (HiRISE) camera on NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter have located the lander close to the center of its planned landing area. Two images taken months apart, with the sun at different angles, are merged in this view. A glint comes from a different part of the lan‐ der in one than in the other, interpreted as evidence of more than one deployed panel on the lander. (AP Photo/NASA/ JPL‐Caltech/Univ. of Arizona/University of Leicester). Experts who helped iden‐ tify the lander at the University of Ari‐ zona's Lunar and Planetary Lab said the photographs are "consistent" with only a partial deployment of the Beagle‐2 upon landing. They said a failure to fully deploy would explain why no data or signals from the craft were ever re‐ ceived, since a complete deployment of all of its solar panels would have been needed for successful transmissions. Alfred McEwen, chief investigator of the project, said the special camera had been used to search for all of the landers that have tried to descend to the surface of Mars. This is the first time we have found one that didn't send a signal after it landed..."

I’m an ex‐Navy SEAL and was at a buddies restaurant in San Diego, CA a few weeks ago for a 5‐year‐in‐business celebration. I sat at a table with three younger SEAL’s who were in their late 20’s/early 30’s. We got to chatting about my Dad and his buddy who flew the SR‐71 decades ago and had two encounters at ceiling altitude. One of the younger SEAL’s then asked me if “he could tell me something” and I said sure. He then relayed that the two of them across the table from me were up at NSW Cold Weather Detachment Kodiak last year doing some cold weather training. The training up there includes SEAL cold weather survival and advanced tactical training in the forested, coastal environments. The base itself covers 55 acres on Spruce Cape and training is conducted throughout the surrounding area and on nearby Long Island. They both mentioned they were on a remote maneuver and had made good progress to their BDL (bed down location) when they decided to push on ahead through some gnarly terrain off their plan and surprise their CO with a new BDL. When they finally radioed in at their new BDL, they said that their CO flipped out and became frantic, asked them if they had “seen anyone or anything” to which they strangely replied no (why would they have after all?), and to return to their orignal BDL immediately. Their CO said they had committed a very serious breach by pushing ahead off track and they would be debriefed upon return to base. They both said they had never experienced this before. When they returned to base, they were immediately sequestered and detained in a room by what they called “some serious‐looking government dudes like the Men in Black” who were flown in!!! They were told the meeting was well beyond the normal TS‐SCI clear‐ ance and they were not to ever breathe a word of it.
Image: Spruce Cape in Alaska. So I was very surprised that they relayed any of this to me but they were both very clearly concerned and shaken there at the table, even a year later. During the debrief by the MIB’s, they were asked about many things includ‐ ing whether they had seen other ” human‐type beings of any kind, technol‐ ogy, material traces, etc. The SEAL’s went on to say that in all the classified missions they had been on, that they had never been remotely debriefed like that. When they asked the MIB’s about what other “human beings of any kind” there are, the gov’s mentioned that there were “The Others” up there and that such an event was not in their realm of possibility or anywhere remotely near their clearance or need to know! After the debrief, they asked their CO who “The Others” were and what was going on and he told them to never mention the incident again, to adhere to strict orders, and to never deviate from mission parameters or other parts of the range while there. They were both still clearly shaken by the ordeal and wanted answers and asked me what I thought. I told them that it obviously sounded like they almost stumbled onto a remote facility where humans are working alongside ET’s or ET’s are being housed. Anyway, you’d never hear this level of admission from any civilian and coming from 2 SEAL’s, I’d say something is going on up there at SEAL Detachment Kodiak that is not terres‐ trial. Much like the reports of the Tall Whites at the Nevada Training and Test Range. Kens Note: The Special Operations Forces Cold Weather Maritime Training Facility, Naval Special Warfare Cold Weather Detachment Kodiak is a United States Navy base near Kodiak, Alaska used to train United States Navy SEALs. The training includes cold weather survival and advanced tactical training in forested, coastal environments. The base covers 55 acres on Spruce Cape and training is conducted throughout the surrounding area and nearby Long Island. As of November 2008, six SEAL classes averaging 40 students come to Kodiak each year for a 28‐day course. The trainees are sent to Kodiak after completing Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL (BUD/S) selec‐ tion and before they are assigned to their respective SEAL teams. The Manor House began its history as a sixteenth century Yeoman dwelling. The original house is substantial structure with large stone fireplaces on the ground floor with the remains of others in the bed‐ rooms. John Wilkinson inherited the estate in 1642 and sold it on to John Shawe, who was a man of some standing in the community. He was a Captain, a Church Warden and a Constable during the troubled times of the Civil War and was in fact impris‐ oned in Durham for a short time by the p a r l i a m e n t a r y forces and on his death the Manor passed to his grand‐ son, Ralph. By the early 1700's the house and land had been sold and passed through various hands until it was jointly inherited by Thomas Arrowsmith and William Shields. Having raised half the value of the estate Thomas bought out William's share and went on to manage the land. Thomas went on to join an agricultural soci‐ ety and from 1803 set about implementing many improvements in farming. Records show that during the first seven years of the society’s existence he gained valuable premiums for his sheep and hogs and also improved the weight of his beef cattle. However Thomas was required to repay a loan and was forced to take another mort‐ gage in 1832 and upon his death in 1845 his wife and daughters inherited the estate. By 1885, of the original estate, only the Manor House remained as the land was sold to local colliery owners. The house was re‐ stored in 1891 and occupied by the colliery manager Henry Palmer. Several owners followed until 2001, when it was bought by the present owners and is now a family run business. HAUNTINGS/ WITNESS STATEMENTS There have been many sightings and unex‐ plained experiences at this venue. Some of these experiences were by staff, guests and other paranormal groups. These are just a few of the claims witnessed;
1) A function room chair was thrown across the room. 2) Footsteps have been heard running up and down the corridors.
3) A K2 electromagnetic field meter floated into mid air. 4) It is clamed that ghostly children roam the building. 5) Cries have been heard coming from the basement. It is said that in the early 1900’s the local priest became a Vicar so he could marry and take over the Manor House and make it into an orphanage.. 6) Apparitions have been seen, salt shak‐ ers have gone missing, napkins have been thrown around. 7) A five year old child was grabbed by his throat and thrown off the bed leaving in a large hand print on his neck. THE TEAM Andrew Graham –Lead investigator and Developing Medium / Glen Richardson – Lead investigator / Tracey Richardson – Investigator / Nicky Mealing – Investiga‐ tor and Developing Medium. THE INVESTIGATION We set up our equipment when we ar‐ rived, placing cameras in rooms that are 31
allegedly the most ‘active’. We went into each room with a K2 meter before the investigation began to get a base reading for EMFs (Electromagnetic Fields). This establishes any existing EMF readings in each room. If there are no EMF readings it is possible that if the lights on the K2 meter illuminate during the investiga‐ tion it is likely that something paranor‐ mal may be occur‐ ring. A K2 EMF me‐ ter doesn’t detect ghosts, it detects if there is any EMF in the room, the rea‐ son we use this me‐ ter is because it uses lights to indicate the presence of EM fields and when we ask a spirit to com‐ municate we ask it to come close to the meter to see if lights illuminate. The sup‐ position behind this is that the spirit inter‐ faces with the meter to help it communi‐ cate although it is not clear why this should be. We started our investigation at around 10.30 with around twelve members of the public present. In addition to our own ex‐ periments there were a couple of ‘medium spiritualists’ on our investigation whose feedback is always welcome. We split up into three groups with a member of our team leading each group. We always make sure we don’t give away any of the history of the activity in the building to the groups (although we appreciate that people can look this up before the event). Room 7 Two of the group went into the bathroom and after putting the K2 meter on a shelf underneath the mirror they asked that if any spirits were present could they come forward and affect the lights; this hap‐ pened straight away after they turned off the camera light. They then asked if the spirit was of the lady who had been sensed in the room and the lights flickered on. They asked if she was the lady who had twice lost a baby, but the lights did not move after asking this question, so instead they asked if she didn’t want to talk about

the baby and the lights flickered strongly twice to the third light. They asked if she lived there and the lights flickered to the third one again, this seemed to be the way she said yes. They asked if she liked living there and they did‐ n’t flicker, when then asking if she didn’t like living here they flickered to the third again. She was asked if the reason she didn’t like it was because of another spirit that was in the building and the lights flick‐ ered again. They asked if she liked to talk to them and if she preferred it in the dark and the lights flickered in response to both of these questions. At this point it was time to change rooms and the other group came near the room and put the light on; at this point the communication with the lady located in the bathroom stopped and they left the room. Room 8 When entering this room the group felt ‘uncomfortable’. The temperature upon entering the room was 22.5; when asking spirit to drop the temperature if they were present we managed to get it down to 19.4. A guest was sitting on the bed near the mirror and said she felt that a young girl in her late teens would have been in this room and that she would have done a lot of thinking in it. After she said this another guest got the name ‘Vanessa’ and thought she could smell flowery perfume. We placed the K2 meter on the floor between the two beds where it stayed steadily on three lights for a long time. It is thought that if it stays on strongly then it can be caused by loose wiring etc, but the third light was flickering slightly. Nicky picked up on a man called Stan and she got the impression that was a nice man and he was making her laugh with the things he said. He said that Glenn was an impatient man and that he had ‘never met a man so impatient.’ He showed her him putting his teeth in a jar before he went to bed. Some photos in this room showed orbs and both Nicky and another guest took a picture of the wall near the window, which in both pictures seemed to have a face in. However, they were not the same – they seemed to differ so more pictures were taken, but nothing else manifested. Room 1 Upon entering this room everyone felt a little uncomfortable. Two of the guests immediately said they had the feeling of being watched – one felt that porcelain dolls would have been kept in here and that this was where the feeling of being watched may have been from. Another guest felt that someone had given birth in this room, but that they had maybe lost their life dur‐ ing child birth, she complained of stomach
A alleged apparition caught at one of the windows of Manor House. pains and lower backache, which she did‐ n’t have prior to entering this room. The spirit of a lady who would have used this room and to whom the dolls would have belonged was also sensed. She was a very glamorous lady and smoked cigarettes using a cigarette holder. It was also felt that she would have be‐ friended young girls and then made them work for her as prostitutes. Two guests both picked up on a lot of sexual activity that would have taken place in this room and later on in the night it was confirmed to us that a prostitute was indeed killed in this room. We took some photos here and a few orbs appeared near the mirror and door, the K2’s lights weren’t moving so we called out to spirit telling them that we knew they were there. The K2 meter was on the bed at this point and it sud‐ denly lit up. We all thanked the spirit for illuminating the lights and carried on 32
communicating by asking them to do it again (which they did). After Andrew en‐ tered the room the lights stopped and following that we didn’t get any more com‐ munication in this room. A lot of names where picked up on throughout the night by the mediums, there was also an ‘evil’ man making the rooms (and some of the group) feeling rather uncomfortable. One medium picked up on the fact that he was the vicar, policeman and judge in the vil‐ lage. He also ran the orphanage and abused and murdered many of the chil‐ dren there. A lot of footsteps were heard moving up and down the corridor outside the bedrooms, but on checking nobody was there. When everyone went outside for a break, photographs were taken by a number of people. One photo was taken of the back of the building. When the photo was looked at there was a face looking out of one of the bedroom windows. (See Photo Above).
The Manor House ‐ By British Paranormal Investigations: BPI
Everyone was accounted for and it was confirmed no one was in that bedroom at that time. Later on one of the video record‐ ers, one medium said she felt the presence of a lady who liked to look out of the win‐ dow watching the children outside! At the time she didn’t know about the photo‐ graph.
CONCLUSION When the video and voice recorders where analysed a lot of noises were picked up, but a lot of EVP (electronic voice phenomenon) has to be put down to noises coming from the other groups. If the EVP is not directly in the room in which it is recorded we can‐ not determine what the other groups where doing and where they were. Unfor‐ tunately, all the names the mediums picked up on could not be verified in the known history of the Manor House, but of course this isn’t to say they didn’t exist, however we cannot put this forward as evidence without proof. A couple of the mediums in the groups picked up on the Vicar who was said to have married to take over the Manor House, and the footsteps in the corridors were heard throughout the night. Children also featured a lot with the mediums which compares with the claims of children being heard by the witnesses. There were quite a few photos of orbs, which are often said to be the beginning of a ghostly manifestation, but it is argued that these could be dust particles or insects. Everyone has their own view on orbs and although there are many interesting theories, we cannot say these are proof of anything paranormal. We, as a group, need more solid evidence. The photograph with the face at the win‐ dow was interesting. It has been reported that other, similar, photographs have been taken in the past. We can confirm that none of the guests or members of the team where in the building at the time and we were told that there were no staff near that room, but can we be 100% sure? It was a really interesting night, which both the guests and the team enjoyed, but is it haunted? All I can say is it calls for a further investigation.

Title: The Heretic’s Notebook Editor: James deMeo Publisher: Natural Energy Works ISBN: 9780980231656 Price: Not Known
The full title of the book hardly rolls off the tongue, it is called, ‘The Heretic’s Notebook: Emotions, Protocells, Ether‐Drift and Cos‐ mic Life Energy: with New Research Supporting Wilhelm Reich’. This is an A4 sized part‐work comprising a series of articles by various authors and all of the chapters concern various aspects of the highly controversial research carried out by the late Wilhelm Reich. The work is of fair length and comprises 265 pages of assorted opinions in praise of what Reich claimed to do. This review cannot do justice to the sheer complexity of the contents, but what is covered involves the origins of life, Bion and Biogenisis re‐ search, the experiments of Dayton Millar and the theory of relativity, the Orgone Field, consciousness research and orgone energy, so‐called ‘free energy’, UFO’s (yes, they also turn up) and the book also finds space to (quite rightly) take a solid swing at the nega‐ tivity and debunking of organisations like CSICOP (now just called CSI). Be warned though, this is not a ‘light read at bedtime’; this is a book that needs to be carefully studied to learn what Wilhelm Reich was about.
That said, it is also fair to say that Reich tried to take a natural force (also known as Prana, Chi, and Odic Force among other terms) that has been known about for millennia and make it available ‘on tap’ so to speak, rather than through spiritual or ‘psychic’ means. However, for anyone with an interest in fringe science and unique belief systems this is very much for you.
Title: The Dream‐Quest of Unknown Kadath Author: H.P. Lovecraft, recreated by I.L.J Culbard Publisher: Self Made Hero ISBN: 978‐1‐906838‐85‐0 Price: £14.99 Well, if ever there was an author whose works called out to be published in graphic form it is the remarkable and sadly long de‐ parted Howard Philips (HP) Lovecraft and in the artist I.L.J. Culbard we find the ideal outlet. Lovecraft and his eldritch creations have been portrayed a couple of time in the cinema, but less often in graphic form. The work is a lavish and sensitive interpreta‐ tion of one of Lovecraft’s less known and less ‘in‐your‐face’ works, i.e. ‘The Dream‐Quest of Unknown Kadath’, in which out hero, Randolph Carter, attempts to reach the strange and hauntingly beautiful city he sees in a series of dreams. This tale is absolutely typical of Lovecraft and the magickal web he weaves in his stories of other realms and dimensions. Culbard manages to capture the haunting beauty of the dreams and also the bizarre and unsettling images of entities like the ‘zoogs’, ‘gugs’ and ‘night‐gaunts’ encountered by Carter in his quest. He only achieves this by invoking the bizarre guardians who exist in Kadath, the home of the Gods, in this eerie and fascinating dream‐world of Lovecraft’s creations. Overall this is a splendid example of the illustrators’ art and a fitting celebration and tribute the memory of Lovecraft.
Title: Contagion: In the Shadow of the South Shields Poltergeist Author: Darren W. Ritson & Michael J. Hallowell Publisher: The Limbury Press ISNB: 9‐780956‐522894 Price: £12.99
Given that this insightful, well written and abundantly illustrated book is about the phenomenon of poltergeists, the title, ‘Contagion’, just about says it all, why? Because as Mike Hallowell and Darren Ritson discovered, their prior involvement with the notorious South Shields Poltergeist returned to haunt them (no pun intended) like the effects of particularly toxic and noxious disease. However this is not just another book about poltergeists and what they do, this is a harrowing expose of the unintended and unforeseen consequences of investigating paranormal phenomena. This reviewer has experienced similar events twice at first hand, trust me it is real and it can and does happen, it was an unwelcome and unexpected example of ‘bringing your work home with you.’ Although the book often references the original notorious South Shields case, it looks further afield at the risks of deal‐ ing with the frequently malign entities that inhabit the unseen world around us. This is like an invisible spider’s web of spite and malice that seems to lock‐on to and affect individuals who were not directly involved with the phenomenon, but came into (or were brought into) contact with aspects of it. There is no good reason why this happens either; it is almost as if for their own unfathomable reasons these entities (and they may not necessarily be poltergeists either) do it simply because they can. The authors manage two objectives here, first they present a workable hypothesis to explain the mechanism by which poltergeist phenomena functions and that may be electrical energy, and second they give an en‐ tirely new paradigm on the nature of the poltergeist phenomenon itself, i.e. that the poltergeist is in fact a gestalt being; in other words part of a collective ‘hive mind’. Make no mistake about it, this is a first class piece of writing that pulls no punches and documents the negative effects of the phenomena very well indeed and it should serve as salutary warning to those who indulge in ‘ghost busting’ as a casual pastime. Be warned, this can be a dangerous pursuit and sometimes it goes very badly wrong indeed. This excellent book makes an essential addition to the bookshelf of the merely curious and the serious researcher alike, so buy it, read it and take note!!

What is “Ascension?” When we hear the word “ascension” in the context of spirituality, what exactly does that mean? Is the Earth and its inhabitants preparing for some kind of ascension to a Fifth Dimension? How does one become an “Ascended Master?” And what does time-travel, UFO’s, politics and money have to do with it?...

Ascension: What exactly is that? ‐ By Bret Lueder
These were the kinds of questions that were attempted to be answered at the first annual Ascension Portal conference in Mt Shasta City, California, USA on Sept 8‐10, 2014. It was held in a 30‐foot tall steel Quonset hut that was decked out with spiri‐ tual paintings, tapestries of mandalas, and pictures and/or effigies of historical spiri‐ tual leaders like Jesus, Sai Baba and the Buddha. Strings of coloured lights lined the grooves in the arched ceiling and incense permeated the air. The energy was palpa‐ ble. The mystical mountain was in full view just a couple of steps outside the building to the east of the conference location and added to the aura and feeling of emotional potential and good spirits. The stage was set for magic.
My companion and missed the earlier Friday presentations by Contactee and Channel Michael Ellegion, the author of Prepare For The Landings!…Are YOU Ready? www.michaelellegion.com, Alfred Lebremont Webre, the exo‐politician, investigative journalist and founder of “exo‐politics—the science of relations among intelligent civilizations in the mul‐ tiverse—with his book, Exopolitcs: A Dec‐ ade of Contact (2000) http:// exopolitics.blogs.com/exopolitics/, and Contactee Robert Perala whose books, Divine Blueprint and Divine Architect, de‐ scribe his experience of contact, how that changed his life and how that opened up his awareness to the idea of spiritual As‐ cension, among other things,

www.theperalareport.com. Of course, we were disappointed to have missed the first lectures. But as we walked into the Quonset hut that mid‐Friday af‐ ternoon, we walked right into the frenzied atmosphere of the conclusion of the park‐ ing situation and confusion about that
It didn’t feel like magic, however, when my travel companion and I arrived around 2:00 pm Friday afternoon. Already frazzled from the three‐hour drive north from Chico, Cali‐ fornia, there had apparently been some tension built around a parking lot situation where a contract had been signed and pay‐ ment delivered for the use of the lot for conference attendees starting that Friday morning. The attendees would then be shuttled a short distance to the event. “Apparently the Forest Service had other plans,” said a smiling Robert Potter, confer‐ ence organizer, Internet talk‐radio show host and Contactee. “It was unexpected but alternative parking was found and every‐ thing turned out OK.” When Potter showed up early that morning there was a large crane, which he was told, was used by the Forest Service to pull out large trees, sometimes by their roots, de‐ pending on the situation. And they didn’t want anyone else in the lot, or there would be consequences. Combine this with han‐ dling last‐minute Volunteer cancellations and shuttle issues related to the parking situation, and you had quite a wild mix of energies in the air.

afternoons coming field trip. People pitch‐ ing questions for info were surrounding Potter who was at the podium on the mi‐ crophone trying to organize the trip, which was to be a ten‐minute drive to the Stupa, located near McLoud, California, where we were all to meditate in unity. And after having sat for only a few minutes thinking that I could finally relax and un‐ wind for the upcoming Tricia McCannon lecture, I hear my name. “Bret Lueder? Is Bret Lueder here?” “No rest for the wicked,” I thought to myself and hesitantly raised my hand. “Oh great, Bret Lueder is here,” said Potter. “Bret, I want you to get with this man (he pointed to a gentleman near the podium) and I want you to go to this location and follow these directions (he pointed with his other hand to the screen).” Then someone distracted him before my foggy mind could formulate a question. I knew that I would be volunteering in some fashion but wasn’t sure what I’d be doing. So I went to the podium to check with Potter. But with no answer immediately forthcoming, as he was being pulled in multiple directions, I decided to go sit back down. Several people who saw me at the podium began to ask me for information regarding the Stupa trip and I simply could not answer them. I took a deep breath. It took all the meditative skills I could muster to not react to the situation. “Maybe read‐ ing all those books, attempts at meditation and much exercise were making me more sensitive after all?” I thought to myself. “Even though I knew I needed more spiri‐ tual growth and knew I wasn’t one who’s known for my energetic sensitivity (wink, wink).” Despite my spiritual disposition, I was definitely noticing confused and rest‐ less collective energy. I felt as if we hadn’t gotten out of our car yet; like we needed to stretch our legs and couldn’t.
Ascension: What exactly is that? ‐ By Bret Lueder
The trees‐getting‐pulled‐out‐by‐their‐roots metaphor from the earlier parking lot situa‐ tion was an interesting one as for a mo‐ ment that afternoon it looked to me as if the conference itself could be pulled up by its roots. Of course, whether the Stupa‐trip issues were resolved or not, McCannon had a calming effect all her own and the approach of her talk worked to settle the gathering. A “Mysteries Expert,” as she refers to herself, McCannon has a Southern Bell kind of charm, kind of like America’s former TV sweetheart Paula Dean without the media‐ instilled and over‐played racism. Although she is known as a Channel for many differ‐ ent kinds of ethereal beings, she wrote a book called Jesus: The Lost 30 Years & the Ancient Mystery Religions (2010) which details an enormous amount of docu‐ mented research. She says that Jesus ap‐ peared to her and explained to her the book she was to write. “It was like total unconditional love being in His presence,” described McCannon in her talk. The story of Jesus, being a well‐known metaphor for an individual spiritual ascension, is a theme found in her other books, Dialogues with Angels (2012) and her latest, The Return of the Divine Sophia (2014). As McCannon was explaining the many facets of her work for a little over an hour and was really just getting warmed up, Potter had to cut her off and tell the crowd that they were all supposed to be heading up to the Stupa.
Yes it would…... The trip to the Stupa was like a trip to summer camp. Anxiety turned to excitement while attendees piled into cars for the short trip. As the trail of cars snaked into the state park area I began to feel better as memories of similar childhood experiences began to surface in my mind. As people settled in and found their spots on the ground, or on logs or rocks, the mood further settled. The air was fresh and clean, and there were no Chemtrails that I could see. Sev‐ eral of the speakers had a chance to add their thoughts about togetherness, com‐ munity and the power of focused inten‐ tion. And we all got another dose of McCannon. Then McCannon and Potter organized everyone into two interlocking circles around the Stupa and led an extended “Om” chant. It was a soothing experience. The example was to show that medita‐ tion, mantras and specific movements were ways to help raise one’s vibration towards Ascension and, that group focus could magnify the energy with sometimes noticeable effects. Among other things, prayers were said for rain as California is going through a serious drought. The en‐ tire conference, one of the first of its kind, carried the intention to begin to educate the larger public of what is referred to in Ascended Master, and some UFO circles, as the coming “Ascension” of both the planet and people from a Third to a Fifth Dimension; a higher frequency of exis‐ tence.
There were many polite “oooohhh’s” and “aaaahhhh’s” of disapproval but Potter stood firm at the podium as that same rest‐ less energy started to return. The people wanted more of what McCannon was deliv‐ ering. However, Potter explained the intri‐ cacies of scheduling the usage of special places where you have to be in and out at specific times. Well, who could disagree? But would the energy finally release once we got there?
According to Merriam‐Webster’s online dictionary, the definition of “ascension” is: “the act of rising or ascending; especially the act of moving to a higher or more powerful position.” (www.m‐w.com) Like any good host, Potter gave an infor‐ mative lecture on Saturday complete with a detailed description of what exactly is meant by “Ascension” in the spiritual con‐ text. “There are different kinds of 39
ascension, of course,” described Potter in a recent telephone conversation. “There is the individual ascension of the primary nature of consciousness which is kind of a spiritual reconnection with the Divine. Christ was the penultimate experience of a new teaching—a whole new way of con‐ sciousness understanding that the world we live in is an illusion of our own making. On the level of the Christ Consciousness there is no separation, only unity. That is a very involved process and, of course, it is inevitable that each individual will get there. We don’t have to go anywhere. We’re already part and parcel of God. Basi‐ cally what one needs to do is to release all guilt and re‐establish oneself in uncondi‐ tional love.” This is what is metaphysically referred to as “raising one’s vibration.” You get rid of the lower vibratory emotional baggage like guilt, anger and fear and replace them in your mind and heart with the higher or more refined and elevated vibrations of love, joy and celebration. While the story of Christ is the “penultimate” example of this kind of individual ascension, according to Potter, other similar ascension journeys are found in the stories of St. Germaine, Kwan Yin and the Buddha, among many others. Although known in occult circles for millen‐ nia, the idea of there being Ascended Mas‐ ters who are able to raise their vibrations enough to dematerialize off of the Third‐ dimensional, physical plane and later re‐ turn in service to humanity was first brought to the outer modern world in the 1930’s by Guy Ballard a.k.a. Godfrey Ray King, with his wife in Chicago, Illinois. This body of information became known as The Saint Germaine Teachings and since then has gone global as people began to chant Decrees and work with a Violet flame, which could supposedly transmute all negative energy. The Saint Germaine Foun‐ dation has a branch located at Mt. Shasta City, California, for example. These kinds of teachings were later to be periodically echoed in UFO contact experi‐ ences from the 1940’s to the present time as well as in much channeled information; the work of Barbara Marciniak for exam‐ ple. Both avenues, Contactees and Chan‐ nelers, are rife with information from hu‐ manoid beings allegedly from the Pleiades star constellation, and in particular, from a Pleiadian named Semjase. This is the source which Potter claims first taught him about individual and planetary Ascension during, and because of, his 30‐year asso‐ ciation with the late Dr. Fred Bell, a famous Contactee himself. “Now planetary Ascension is another thing,” he continued. “So, because our planet is in a quarantine situation, we did

not know our true history; we did not know about or have a culture with which to iden‐ tify ourselves. The only real bonafide de‐ scription of a planetary description that I know of was from Onec Omnec. She is a woman who comes from Venus and she’s written a series of books and they’re called the Venus Trilogy.
The first being, From Venus I Came, the second one is Angels Don’t Cry and the third one is My Message. And throughout this series she describes her story about coming to Earth at the behest of the Mas‐ ters from Venus who told her that by in‐ carnating one more time on Earth that she would be doing a great service to
humanity. She left the astral plane of Ve‐ nus and came to Earth…..and according to Omnec, the history of Venus is similar to ours in that they went through tremen‐ dous suffering and strife a long, long time ago. And their people eventually overcame the negativity and the materialism that some of their leaders had created for them and all at once all the people of Venus moved out of their cities and civilization and moved into nature. And eventually, the planet literally ascended into the astral plane and it was a gradual, step‐by‐step process that took a long time. And at a certain point in time they evolved to a point where they live in another dimen‐ sion.”So the united planet of Venus moved into nature, thereby simultaneously raising their collective and individual vibrations enough to at least slowly ascend into a higher frequency; a less material dimen‐ sion. It is a fascinating concept pined over by philosophical sages throughout re‐ corded history, the end result of which, in many cultural traditions, is to get to heaven, or, in Ascended Master teachings, the Fifth Dimension. lueder@esotericguide.com All photos © Robert Potter Advertisement

January 3, 4 - Quadrantids Meteor Shower. The Quadrantids is an above average shower, with up to 40 meteors per hour at its peak. It is thought to be produced by dust grains left behind by an extinct comet known as 2003 EH1, which was discovered in 2003. The shower runs annually from January 1-5. It peaks this year on the night of the 3rd and morning of the 4th. Unfortunately the nearly full moon will block out all but the brightest meteors this year. Best viewing will be from a dark location after midnight. Meteors will radiate from the constellation Bootes, but can appear anywhere in the sky. January 5 - Full Moon. The Moon will be directly opposite the Earth from the Sun and will be fully illuminated as seen from Earth. This phase occurs at 04:53 UTC. This full moon was known by early Native American tribes as the Full Wolf Moon because this was the time of year when hungry wolf packs howled outside their camps. This moon has also been know as the Old Moon and the Moon After Yule. January 20 - New Moon. The Moon will be directly between the Earth and the Sun and will not be visible from Earth. This phase occurs at 13:14 UTC. This is the best time of the month to observe faint objects such as galaxies and star clusters because there is no moonlight to interfere. February - Dawn at Ceres. NASA’s Dawn spacecraft will encounter the dwarf planet known as Ceres sometime in February 2015. Ceres is the largest object in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. Because of its size and shape, it has officially been classified as a dwarf planet, which puts it in the same category as Pluto. Ceres is 590 miles (950 kilometers) in diameter and is large enough to have a round shape. Dawn will spend several months studying Ceres and will send back the first close-up images of a dwarf planet in our Solar System...

For anyone who remembers the old TV series ‘Bewitched’ with the nose twitching, human (and family) friendly witch Samantha, well, you can forget it. It kind of reminds me of another witch themed and slightly more grown‐up show called ‘Charmed’ and in a good way too. The plot con‐ cerns a mother, Joanna, played by Julia Ormond, who lives with her daughters in a small coastal town and is trying to keep her offspring, Freya and Ingrid, although they have magical powers, unaware that they are the next generation of powerful witches. In addition there is also an ancient curse causing the daughters to die every thirty years, when their mother, who is immortal, becomes pregnant with them again and the cycle per‐ petuates. However her plans are thwarted when her estranged sister arrives and forces the family to confront their destiny. There is plenty of magical action and decent effects too, so overall this an eminently entertaining and watchable series and what makes it even better is that it does not rely on graphic nudity, sex and violence to pull in an audience…most refreshing so well done them! (Some good scenes and a not bad story line. Vert watchable. Though I did enjoy this series, it was a typical U.S. TV show that we have all seen many times… Worth a watch, but nothing to really write home about… PM).

An article titled "7 Huge Misconceptions about Aliens" by Natalie Wolchover has appeared recently on several websites including Space.com; Life's Little Mysteries (prime site); and the Huffington Post (abridged to just five). It's all about how scientists view the existence and nature of advanced ET as opposed to the more common perceptions of the great unwashed. The following comments are my addressing of the common misconceptions raised. Let's see if I agree or disagree with the verdicts, and most important, why. Oh, of course the "THEY" referred to is our intelligent and technologically advanced ET... 43
Seven Alien Misconceptions Revisited ‐ By John Prytz
THEY MIGHT NOT EXIST: Disagree This is the only case of the magnificent seven with scientists hedging bets. They "might" not exist. Then too they "might" exist. Okay, we have no actual alien bodies on the slab in the lab, so the existence of aliens to date is pure speculation. When it comes to life in the universe, we have to speculate from a statistical sample of one – terrestrial life. Extrapolating from a statistical sample of one is fraught with danger. But, when crunching the numbers, so many stars, so many planets, so much time, so much space, so much of the ‘right stuff' available for life‐as‐we‐know‐it, that very, very few scientists would bet their family farm that terrestrial life, and terrestrial intelligent life, and terrestrial intelligent life with advanced technology was the proverbial IT in the cosmos at large. Certainly SETI (Search for Extra‐Terrestrial Intelligence) scientists, one of which fea‐ tured prominently in the original essay, wouldn't adopt the "we are alone" sce‐ nario. It would make a mockery of their very own chosen profession and careers. The possible existence of ET may currently just boil down to pure statistics, but those statistics have been crunched and double crunched and tripled crunched again and again and again by the best science cur‐ rently available to us. The verdict, well SETI scientists have voted to put their time, ef‐ forts and energy into, and bet on, the "we are not alone" option. Finally, if you adopt the quantum (physics) mantra, anything that isn't forbidden is compulsory; anything that can happen, must happen. Life isn't forbidden; life can happen – we're proof; therefore life must happen again and again and again. THEY WON'T COME IN ‘PERSON': Disagree By "come", the consensus is that flesh‐and‐ blood aliens will boldly go via silicon and metal surrogates that are themselves con‐ structed artificially intelligent (AI), thus saving the biological aliens a lot of time, cost, effort, energy and danger. Sending out zillions of robotic AI space probes to ex‐ plore the galaxy while the flesh‐and‐blood aliens stay at home however runs counter to what we humans do. Sure, we invest massive amounts of resources into silicon and steel. Robotic probes are often our eyes and ears from unmanned military drones to spy‐in‐the‐sky satellites to probes to the planets and into the depths of the ocean. But, there is just something crazy enough about the human condition that humans insist on seeing and hearing for themselves, even if supplemented by tech‐ nology, the wonders of, whatever. Sure we sent unmanned probes to the Moon – but we followed by sending humans in person.
Sure we send unmanned probes to Mars – but humans will go there in person eventually. Sure we explore the ocean's abyss with robotic sub‐ mersibles, but humans still go down to look up close and personal at RMS Titanic, even unto the deepest parts of the ocean trenches. Sure we can, and do, send instru‐ mentation into the heart of massive tornadoes, but that hasn't stopped ‘storm chasers' from de‐ liberately inserting them‐ selves into the vortex of deadly twisters, some‐ times as a thrill, more often as not to advance the science of meteorol‐ ogy and forecasting. Hu‐ mans constantly put themselves at risk even though robots do the risk‐ better and taking cheaper. THEY WON'T MATE WITH US: Disagree That's the essence of the question "Why climb Mount Everest?" The answer, as always: "Because it's there". Now of course to do these sorts of things requires technological augmentation, from warm clothes (Mount Everest) to scuba gear (exploring the Great Barrier Reef) to rein‐ forced steel containers that keep out the outside environment (exploring RMS Ti‐ tanic or going to the Moon). But the bio‐ logical entity remains cocooned inside. If aliens evolve a high IQ and a sophisticated technology, then they no doubt will have that desire to explore and see what's on the other side of the hill and climb their own Mount Everest. Perhaps firstly by surrogates; but if they have one tenth the curiosity and drive of humans, they will boldly go in person by hook or by crook. Robotic probes might inform ET that the third rock from a stellar body called Sol has a biosphere, but ET will want to see for itself, sooner or later. Now I might concede that via advanced bioengineering abilities, aliens could aug‐ ment themselves with technology to such an extent that they might be nearly artifi‐ cial constructions – our artificial hip joints and dentures and plastic heart valves taken to their logical conclusion. The Daleks of "Doctor Who" are a prime ex‐ ample. Perhaps their mind could be downloaded into something more perma‐ nent than wetware like software part and parcel of a silicon and steel computer. But the key bit is that their biological essence (their mind) remains intact and boldly goes. 44
Alien biochemistry wouldn't be absolutely identical to our biochemistry, or trans‐ lated, their genetics wouldn't be abso‐ lutely identical to our genetics. Just like humans can't mate and reproduce with petunias, though both are terrestrial life forms and share DNA, humans are even less likely to be able to mate with ET. So, why do I disagree with this most obvious of the obvious? Four reasons: 1) Genetic engineering; 2) Mythology; 3) Modern animal mutilations and 4) UFO abduc‐ tions. Taking each in turn… Genetic Engineering: If ET is technologi‐ cally advanced enough to get from there (wherever that is) to here, then it's logical to assume that they are technologically advanced in lots of areas – like genetic engineering. Okay, humans can not natu‐ rally mate with petunias. But, assuming they wanted to; couldn't our geneticists take a human reproductive cell and the reproductive cell of a petunia, and ma‐ nipulate both to such an extent that a union between the two might be possi‐ ble? Okay, that's pretty far out, but ge‐ neticists have already combined two dis‐ similar species genes into one – the ‘Frankenfish', patented as the GloFish, combining the Zebrafish with various genes of fluorescence proteins from other species comes to mind as just one exam‐ ple. Collectively, the field is known as producing genetically modified organisms (GMO's)! There's much controversy that rages about GMO's as human foods. That aside, in theory, a human‐petunia combo is possible.
Seven Alien Misconceptions Revisited ‐ By John Prytz
We share some genetics and DNA with the petunia. Mythology: One would be hard pressed to find a culture who's mythology didn't include examples of their ‘gods' mat‐ ing with us mere mortals. Greek mythology is a no‐brainer given the ever randy Zeus. Biblical mythology also records sex between the ‘sons of god' and the ‘daughters of men'. Now do scientists accept all of the multi‐thousands of deities of the world's cultures as supernatural entities? ‐ Probably not. That then leaves them a choice be‐ tween all of these deities being as 100% fictional as the Easter Bunny and Sherlock Holmes, or else they are aliens. To me, probability dictates that the more logical option of the two is ET – a speculation that also solves the Fermi Paradox – "where is everybody?" The Fermi Paradox can be summed up sim‐ ply enough just by postulating the existence of at least one other technologically ad‐ vanced extraterrestrial civilization in our Milky Way Galaxy that's older than our civilization by at least a few millions of years and with the same sorts of ‘boldly going' drives as we humans have (i.e. – plain old curiosity, the "what's on the other side of the hill?"). If that alone is taken as a given and nothing else, then just as humans explored and colonized Planet Earth in a tiny fraction of the Earth's existence (ditto microbes, insects, birds, etc.), technologi‐ cally capable extraterrestrials would have explored and colonized the Milky Way Gal‐ axy in a tiny fraction of its existence, even at say rippling out at one to ten percent the speed of light. Planet Earth is part of that Milky Way Galaxy, so "where is every‐ body?"
say the least. If human culprits, why hasn't anyone been apprehended, tried and convicted of violations of animal welfare laws, destruction of private property (if livestock) and trespass? If natural preda‐ tors are to blame – well that should be bloody obvious if true and no controversy should therefore ensue. If extraterrestri‐ als, well that explains a lot that natural predation can't like precision incisions and lack of blood and no hoof/paw prints and no signs of a struggle, though it also leaves mega‐questions unanswered. Pre‐ sumably, it has something to do with ET interest in terrestrial biochemistry and genetics. UFO Abductions: If UFO abduc‐ tion accounts are taken at face value, and I'm not prepared to call these ‘victims'
fingers and toes –squared. Of course "won't mate" is not the same as "can't mate". If we assume advanced aliens are skilled enough to ‘mate' with humans, why the hell would they want to? Of course this isn't apparently mating in the traditional way, rather aliens harvesting human gam‐ etes and doing their technological thing with them, hence an alien version of artifi‐ cial insemination or in‐vitro fertilization. Again, if the human abduction ‘victims' are taken at face value, some sort of alien‐ human hybrid program is underway. Why a human‐alien hybrid program is the $64,000 question. Perhaps someday we'll have an answer. Perhaps it's similar to why we created the ‘Frankenfish' or why the ‘gods' created the Minotaur or the griffin or even demigod/demigoddess hybrids like Hercu‐ les or Helen of Troy. THEY WON'T EAT US: Agree
In the case of humans enveloping Earth, we don't need to ask "where is everybody?" We're everywhere. In the case of ET, we do ask "where is everybody?" They should be here. Scientists say they're not, never have been, and thus they have to explain the Fermi paradox by other means. On the other side of the fence, those who see evi‐ dence in those ‘ancient astronauts' and in UFOs have no paradox with which to have to come to terms with. Animal Mutilations: Animal mutilations are certainly well docu‐ mented, and the cause(s) are mysterious to
either liars or deluded, then extraterrestri‐ als are mightily interested in the creation of more hybrids – not animal‐animal hy‐ brids like the Chimera, or human‐animal hybrids like the Mesopotamian Shedu (winged bulls with human heads) but hu‐ man‐alien hybrids, something perhaps akin to those alien‐human close encoun‐ ters of the intimate kind (those ‘gods' mating with humans) referred to above in all things mythological. If you know your mythology, you'd be aware that there are more hybrids than you can tick off on your 45
Alien biochemistry wouldn't be absolutely identical to our biochemistry. So, we might as well be as indigestible to them as cellu‐ lose is to us. We'd give them the equiva‐ lent of an alien tummy ache. That aside: if aliens arrive from there to here, then pre‐ sumably they know how to produce ‘artificial' food supplements – produce their nutritional requirements from raw materials. I mean there are no supermar‐ kets or fast food joints along the interstel‐ lar highway. Of course if aliens have mas‐ ter‐chefs, well perhaps they might like to take a human or two and sauté them up in a super‐duper alien stew. There's an awful lot of missing persons who forever seem to remain missing! So where on (or off) Earth is Jimmy Hoffa, the crew of Flight 19, Glenn Miller, the crew of the Mary Celeste, or for that matter the entire Ninth Roman Le‐ gion? Joking aside, if humans are a food of last resort, well then, the cosmos is way more resource impoverished than I would have thought possible.
Seven Alien Misconceptions Revisited ‐ By John Prytz
THEY'RE IMMUNE TO EARTH'S BACTERIA: Agree Alien biochemistry wouldn't be absolutely identical to our biochemistry. Our biochem‐ istry isn't 100% identical with the biochem‐ istry of other terrestrial species. And thus, 99.9% of the diseases that afflict one spe‐ cies can't be passed onto another species. My cat sneezes – I don't catch their cold. I sneeze – my cats don't catch my cold. I can't catch Dutch Elm Disease; Elm trees are pretty safe from all the germs I carry around and about with me. So, the odds ET will catch terrestrial diseases and vice versa are pretty damn slim. But, another reason is that presumably ET is pretty skilled when it comes to medicine. If there was any chance Earth's microorganisms could infect ET, well ET would have tested for that in advance and done the proper procedures to nullify any potential threat. The "War of the Worlds" scenario and resolution is ulti‐ mately bovine fertilizer. THEY DIDN'T PUT US HERE: Disagree Why would aliens ‘create' humans? Why do humans ‘create' slavery or jobs or employ beasts of burden, even if mechanical, per‐ haps ultimately robotic? The ultimate an‐ swer: to get someone or something else to do the bloody hard work! If you vacation at a resort, you expect to be waited on hand‐ and‐foot. Well, when Mr. ET arrived on this third rock resort, ET wanted to be waited on hand‐and‐foot too; and worshiped to boot. You'll find lots of references to that in various cultural mythologies. So, ET created humans, not from dust or clay or even ribs but from manipulating pre‐existing primate stock via their advanced knowledge of arti‐ ficial selection breeding techniques. Hu‐ mans too know all about artificial selection – how many unnatural breeds of dogs have we created? Is there a single domesticated plant or animal we haven't in a sense ‘created'? When you stop and think about it, don't humans too come in ‘breeds' (only we call them races). THEY WON"T COME IN PEACE: Disagree Many a scientist has warned that we shouldn't draw attention to ourselves (that's already too little and too late a wish) or seek out aliens. We might wish aliens to exist, but we must be careful what we wish for. A lot of that is based on all the exam‐ ples of terrestrial exploration. The discov‐ ered are not usually treated well by the discoverer. Cue case histories of the Ameri‐ can Indian, the Aztecs and Incas, the Aus‐ tralian aborigines, and all manner of other invasions perpetrated by one or more na‐ tions / cultures / peoples against another. All of our actual exploitation histories are reinforced by hundreds of Sci‐Fi films and TV shows that suggest in no uncertain terms that when aliens discover Earth,
Earthlings are up shit creek! Ultimately, these sorts of terrestrial doings and undo‐ ings have two basic root causes – re‐ sources are one such cause. You need more land because you need expansion room for your ‘fruitful and multiplying' population, and/or the natural resources found there. Perhaps however, if aliens can again get from there to here, then they already have the resources of the Milky Way Galaxy under their ‘thumbs' – assuming thumbs of course – or at their fingertips (or should that be tentacle‐ tips?). Earth has nothing to offer in terms of additional real estate, water, energy, minerals, etc. that can't be found closer to their home turf.
perhaps more likely and what we may really need to worry about is that they'll come in peace alright, but as missionaries to spread the word that their version of a supreme being(s) is the only true version of a supreme being(s) and that all of us terrestrial heathen, pagan infidels had better see the error of our untrue faiths and convert to their extraterrestrial theol‐ ogy quick‐smart. Although you'd hope that advanced alien beings would have long since out‐evolved such religious nonsense, that's not a given. That missionary scenario is even more frightening than them coming here with their ray guns blasting away. So if those extraterrestrial evangelists come knocking at your door, be afraid, be very afraid!
The second root cause is someone else, some other nation or nations is/are per‐ ceived as a threat. The threat(s) you per‐ ceive maybe military, maybe political, maybe cultural or maybe religious. If you deem yourself in the stronger position, you may decide to hit first, hit hard and hit often. If your next door neighbor is no threat to you and has nothing of value you want, you're going to tend to just live and let live. Well as far as any technologically advanced aliens are concerned, this here third rock and inhabitants is no threat to them and has nothing of value they can't acquire closer to home at vastly less effort and expense. "Independence Day" and a thousand clones of that plot element are highly improbable in the extreme. Highly im‐ probable is not of course the same as impossible. But, and why is there nearly always a but, it's within the realm of possibility that there might be those aliens who parallel those humans who don't mind sticking a knife in your back just because they derive great kicks and great pleasure out of do‐ ing so. No motive other than sadistic pleasure and a sense of being ‘king of the hill'. But then again, perhaps there's also an interplanetary extraterrestrial police force to help curb the enthusiasm of such alien backstabbers. Now what's never mentioned, but really terrifying, and 46
But ultimately there's no point in worrying about things that we have no control over, and since we can't hide Earth (and our‐ selves) in a technological cloak of invisibil‐ ity, we're at the mercy of ET: the good ET, the bad ET and the ugly ET...

Slender Man: FOUR sightings of spooky 8ft spectre sparks UK paranormal investiga‐ tion. Lately Slender men have been reported in terrified Brits houses ‐ they have been a part of global folklore for centuries with their elongated appearance remaining the same around the world.
Mail: “To get so many sightings at roughly the same time is unusual. “One theory is that this has nothing to do with the super‐ natural and eye‐witnesses are experienc‐ ing sleep paralysis, where individuals’ eyes are open but they are still in a state of sleep, and therefore unable to move. “There are reports of Slender Men seem‐ ingly pinning victims down, as if sitting on
A paranormal probe has been launched in the Midlands following FOUR sightings of slen‐ der men – long, stick thin spectres feared around the world. Each of the chilling close en‐ counters took place in the Cannock area, and now X Files investigator Lee Brickley is trying to fathom why the ghoul has descended on the Staffordshire mining town. Slender men have been a part of global folklore for centuries. They may be known by different names, but their har‐ rowing, elongated ap‐ pearance remains the same around the world. In Scotland the fiendish figure is known as Fear Dubh (The Dark Man), the Dutch dubbed him Takkenmann (Branch Man) and in Germany he is referred to as Der Grosse Man (Tall Man). Dressed in a black suit, the floating figure is tree ‐tall and capable of stretching limbs and torso like warm toffee. The slender man search is the second major ghostly investigation undertaken by 28‐year‐old Lee. Last year he revealed how a terrifying spectre, known as the Black Eyed Child, had returned to Can‐ nock Chase after a 30‐year absence. The child, with coal‐black pits for eye‐ sockets, roamed the beauty spot, looking to lure unsuspecting walkers on remote tracks that thread the heather. But three of the four Slender Men sightings have been IN‐ SIDE houses. Lee told the Birmingham
“As I tried to get out of bed and investigate further, the shadow began to stretch to‐ wards the ceiling. “It was at that point I found myself faced with the most disgust‐ ing and horrific creature imaginable. “It was about eight feet tall and had a white face with razor‐sharp fangs.” Another householder, from Slitting Mill, Rugeley, reported: “As my eyes opened, I saw a man floating over me. “I could see into his eyes. They were a fierce red colour that shook me to my very core. The ordeal ended when the man, who was completely dressed in black with a hat to match, floated higher and higher until he hit my ceiling and disap‐ peared.” The only outdoor comes encounter from Castle Ring, an Iron Age hill fort that has been a paranor‐ mal hub for decades. Druids gather there during the summer solstice. In a post on Lee’s website, the eyewitness stated: “While taking a mid‐ night stroll around Castle Ring last Friday morning, I happened to notice a strange figure in the distance.
their chest. “That could well be down to sleep paralysis.” A resident of Pye Green, on the fringes of Cannock Chase, says she was visited by the lean, shadowy spirit on December 14. “I was awoken just before 2am by an odd scratching noise in my bedroom,” she said. “To my astonishment, there was what seemed like a sphere‐shaped shadow by the edge of my wardrobe. 49
“It appeared to rise out of the trees and hover over the path around 100m in front of me. It was very dark, but I could see it clearly because of the lights coming from Rugeley. “It was also a pretty clear night. If I were to compare it to anything, I would say it looked like a stereotypical Victorian gentleman ‐ long, black overcoat with a homburg hat. I know this was no flying human because it had blood red eyes that shone in the night sky. “It also had a mouth full of teeth that seemed to look like razors. Whatever it was, it stopped hovering and descended back into the trees. Needless to say, I did not investigate any further.”
