GROUP DIAGNOSIS Institution: Colegio Gral. Manuel Belgrano Course: 5to 3ra HUM Date of observation: Thursday, 2nd July (40 min.) and Monday 27th July (80 min.)

T

he group of students of the 5th 3rd course is formed by 22 students, 8 of which are boys, and the other 14 are girls. As regards age, all of them are between 16 and 18 years old. Even though during the two observed lessons there were some absent students, this is not frequent, reason why the teacher has not made emphasis on it. In respect of their attitude towards the subject, everyone has shown a good disposition. During the second observed lesson, on 2nd July, students who had been divided into pairs had to prepare an activity for their partners. None of went to the class without their task completed. In addition, none was reluctant to participate, since in fact, everyone looked enthusiastic. Another point worth mentioning is that during my first observation, when I was introduced, they greeted me in English and they even try to ask me questions in the target language. The lesson that took place on 2nd July lasted only 40 minutes, and then time had to be efficiently used in order to take advantage of it. It took no more than 5 minutes for students to organize their activities, and even though at certain moments students were talking about subjects that were not related to the subject, they did not last much, students were not disrespectful, and they did not lost their concentration. At the same time, at the moments when they had to participate orally, everyone did without complains and enthusiastically. The excellent relationship among them makes it really easy the interaction using the target language, since they feel comfortable and confident being among friends. There is no problem when they are asked to work in teams because there are no sub-groups o divisions within the class. There seems not to be any conflicts among students nor with the teacher, then there is a relaxed atmosphere in the classroom, which makes it easier for them to learn and move forward with their learning.
