If You Have A Problem ..Tell Someone! Tell your employer about any medical problems you may have !!!

Inform them if you encounter or witness any bullying or harassment in the work place

Work Hours  On work experience you can be expected to work an 8 hour day. You may be required to work evenings. You may be required to work early mornings. •What time will you need to set your alarm? Time taken to travel? Hours at work? Time you will get home?

•Travel time to and from work does not count as working hours. •You are not entitled to a break until you have worked more than 4 and a half hours. •No weekend work •No pay on work experience


What you post on social media can be damaging to the company, you and your school !



Leave your mobile at home or in your locker


A lot of companies prohibit mobile phones in the work place Why employers don’t like mobile phones in the work place •Lack of concentration on task in hand •Use of earphones •Texting whilst walking •Confidentiality breaches •Safeguarding issues •Give a bad image of the company


• Be Aware - Trust your intuition and try not to be influenced by peer pressure • Be Alert - If you are going out, find out how to get to your destination and tell someone where you are going and what time to expect your return • Plan Ahead – what will you do if you run late, you are unsure of your task or you have a problem or difficulty? • Always Report Incidents - it may help others in the future. Tell someone in charge.


Summary •Take responsibility (remember it is YOUR work experience) •Maintain a positive attitude •Don’t be afraid to ask questions •PAY ATTENTION / Listen to and follow instructions •Report anything that is unsafe •Don’t mess about •Wear appropriate clothing •Learn where the fire exits, muster points and first aid rooms are •Leave your mobile at home or in your locker •Don’t post or tweet about your work experience ( Confidentiality and data protection)
