Believing, as William Morris said, that architecture is “the moulding and altering to human needs of the very face of the Earth itself”, through my studies and my work I developed a deep interest in the relationship between built and natural environment. Man-made environment has grown to such an extent that it can now deeply affect natural environment and, in its turn, natural environment is heavily challenging man’s adaptive skills. Nowadays it’s getting harder and harder to identify a border between these two domains. The border has actually become a fragmented edge, with the two realms permeating each other. As designers, we are today asked to shape this new environment, at every scale.
