Dry Diamond Drilling Instructions Manual

Marcrist Dust Extraction Unit

Failing to follow the using instructions may lead to serious personal injury. Always wear protective equipment.

The Marcrist Dust Extraction Unit is a unique tool which solves most dry hand-held diamond drilling problems! The unit is designed to be used in combination with a Vacuum unit to allow the removal of dust and fine debris particles whilst drilling. The benefits of Marcrist Dust Extraction Unit include: • Smoother drilling, and reduced likelyhood of diamond core jamming during drilling • Reduced exposure to health damaging dust and debris • Improved core life Fitting your Marcrist Dust Extraction Unit: • Increased drilling speeds • No dust and no mess The Marcrist Dust Extraction Unit can be fitted to all popular power tools of 850 Watts and above, with adequate speed range and ideally a safety clutch either directly via the ½” BSP female thread or alternatively via an adaptor. Please consult the instructions manual for your power tool for threads sizes or alternatively use the 3 jaw chuck or SDS adaptor.

Protective footwear must be worn

Dry drilling creates dust which can be harmful. Suitable protective dust masks must be worn. Ideally dust should be contained. Why not try the Marcrist Dust Extraction Unit, designed to drastically reduce dust and improve core life. If you have any doubt about the harmfulness of the materials to be drilled, consult an expert! Never drill asbestos or materials containing asbestos. • Always disconnect the drill from the mains before changing the core or its accessories, or removing dust or debris. • The core can get very hot during the drilling process. Never touch the hot core. Let it cool down before changing the core or the pilot drill. • Always store the core in a clean and safe environment. • Keep children away from the power tool and the core. • Keep children away when you are working. • Always ensure that the place of work is clear of any obstacles that could interfere with your work or cause injuries. • Always ensure that you have a firm foothold when working. Do not work off ladders. • Do not work overhead. • When working at height, ensure that you are using a suitable platform and have secured yourselves against falling. • Dry drilling some materials may cause heat and sparks, therefore ensure that you are never drilling or working in or near a flammable, combustible or an explosive environment. • Before drilling ensure that there are no electrical cables, gas pipes, water, sewage or drain pipes in the way. Read and follow the using instructions of your machine at all times.

Dry Drilling Using Pilot Drill - Hand Held - Getting started

Dry Drilling Without Pilot Drill - Hand held - Getting started

Getting started 1. Once your chosen system is set up and in place fit your diamond core bit. 2. Select the recommended drilling speed for the cores diameter: • Ø22mm - Ø65mm = 0-3000rpm • Ø78mm - Ø152mm = 0-1500rpm 3. Simply place the pilot drill down the centre of the core barrel, locate and attach. 4. Hold both rear and side handles as rigid as possible, squeeze the trigger enough to rotate the core. 5. Align pilot to the material surface and increase the speed. Begin drilling. Avoid excess pressure. 6. Once the core has drilled approx. 10mm depth, stop and remove pilot drill. 7. This now allows you to drill with Dust Extraction. 8. Turn on the extractor and continue the process of drilling the hole. Avoid any excess pressure. 9. Once the hole is complete continue with the speed and remove from hole. Stop the speed, turn off any extractor and simply tap the core barrel to free the material. 10. For second phase drilling (cavity walls) fit the appropriate extension rod and continue drilling. 11. You can continue drilling with Dust Extraction. 12. Repeat the procedure to free any material. 13. Always drill with Dust Extraction whenever possible. Apart from obvious health and safety benefits, it speeds up the drilling process and increases the life of the core significantly.

Getting started 1. This system would allow dust free drilling from the beginning to the end. 2. Once your chosen system is set up and in place, fit your diamond core bit. 3. Select the recommended speed for the cores diameter. 22mm - 65mm = 0-3000rpm 78mm - 152mm = 0-1500rpm 4. Switch on dust extractor, if using. 5. Hold both rear and side handles of the machine as rigid as possible, squeeze trigger ensuring full power. 6. Touch the surface of the material with core bit at a slight angle (approx. 30°) applying a firm approach. Once the cut is established gradually square up and begin drilling the hole. Avoid any excess pressure when drilling. 7. Once the hole is complete continue with the speed and remove from the hole. Stop the speed, turn off any extraction system that may be in use and gently tap the side of the barrel to free the material. 8. For second phase drilling (cavity walls) fit the appropriate extension rod and continue drilling. Switching back on any extractor. 9. You can continue drilling with Dust extraction. 10. Repeat procedure to free any material. 11. Always drill with dust extraction whenever possible. Apart from obvious health and safety benefits, it speeds up the drilling process and increases the life of the core significantly.
