Foreword by the MEC
The Honourable MEC Mr Michael Mabuyakhulu, MEC for Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs Our province regards its exports sector as one of the critical pillars underpinning its economic growth trajectory. As such, it is our intention as the Government of KwaZulu-Natal to stimulate export activity through constant and sustained support for our exporters within the province, whilst at the same time identifying new and additional export opportunities. In this regard, our role as the Department of Economic Development Tourism and Environmental Affairs is that of ensuring that an environment conductive to business is created, as well as making available all the necessary tools for provincial business to thrive both domestically and on a global scale. Exports play a fundamental role in realising this vision, as they are critical not only for foreign exchange earnings but also for business growth, employment creation and, indeed, poverty alleviation. It is in this vein that we have developed the KwaZulu-Natal Export Information Portal, to be a conduit towards the improvement of provincial export promotion efforts, and act as a one stop information shop for export role players in the province. It is out hope that its users will embrace and appreciate the utility of this tool, and that it will prove to be yet another milestone in our quest for inclusive economic growth and job creation within our province and the nation at large.
Multilevel Search Capabilities Background The KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) Export Information Portal is a project that is funded by the Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (EDTEA) and implemented by Trade & Investment KwaZulu-Natal (TIKZN). The development of the Web Portal is the key deliverable of this project which will show case products and services that are exportable from KwaZulu-Natal as well as display relevant information related to export. The KwaZulu-Natal Export Information Portal will assist in the promotion of export products and services from the KwaZulu-Natal region and thus increase the generation of foreign revenue for the province and for South Africa.
