Pre-production - Week 8

Pre-production – Week 8 This week mainly revolved around me shooting and editing clips. A lot of effort was put into this because I had to prioritise a lot of my lunches to continue with areas of my production. There were a few communication issues however, me and my partner managed to re-film the shots we needed. It was quite daunting as we thought that there were some major areas of improvements we could make to the production. Therefore, the shooting script proved to be quite ineffective in many situations. One thing which I wanted to always focus on was making sure we had a variety of different shots and that it also followed the British social realism conventions. I wanted it to seem gritty yet interesting for my audience to watch which meant that the mise-en-scene, sound and shots had to effectively represent this.

Pre-production – Week 8 Our teacher previously gave me and my partner some constructive criticism regarding some areas of our production. Initially, the opening sequence features an actor played by Rian Richards walking with Priya Jolapari who plays the protagonist (at the start). However, we scrapped that idea because we felt it would come across as confusing for our audience. We want the audience to see Priya’s character as more independent because she is supposed to come across as a troubled teenager facing issues she has to go through on her own, such as her relationship with the character ‘Jimmy’. Lastly, we did not feature ‘Jimmy’ who play’s the protagonist’s boyfriend because we want Priya’s character to come across as distant from life. It adds to verisimilitude whereby, the character emphasises her individual differences as a teenager. However, we still want it to be relatable for other teenagers which is why we followed the theme of relationships, social networking,

Original concept which me and my partner have changed.
