Light the
Night
Mareeba held its first ever Light the Night walk at the weekend. The annual event, held all across Australia, saw people like Rena Perry and Leona Schincariol (pictured) gather to raise their lanterns high in a moving ceremony to pay tribute to those facing their own blood cancer journey and to remember loved ones lost. Each coloured lantern carries a special meaning – Gold to remember loved ones lost to blood cancer, white for those diagnosed themselves and blue to show community support for all those affected. The night also raises funds for vital research to support Australians with blood cancer. PHOTOS PG 11
