knowing the pests have been causing problems for the club for months. “We want to assure the public that the Turf Club has taken no action whatsoever, we were letting them settle in once the fence was there and then we

were going to drive them out,” he said. “I don’t even know anyone that’s got a gun and why would we do that and bring all the attention to ourselves?” The wallabies have been plaguing the turf club grounds

in their hundreds – last month causing the cancellation of the popular Mareeba Annuals race meet after the pests had destroyed the track digging for food. But a week after the event was due to take place, a pro-
