Think before you drink
By Michael Serenc
TABLELANDS motorists are being urged to think of the potentially fatal consequences before they even consider drink driving. Police nabbed three drink drivers in the region
last week, the worst being a Koah man who allegedly recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.166 per cent – more than three times the legal limit - after his vehicle was stopped in Kuranda last Thursday night. The 20-year-old was allegedly found asleep in
his car, which was still running but had stopped in the middle of Oak Forest Road. The man had his registration plates seized for seven days and is expected to appear in the Mareeba Magistrates Court at a later date. The latest incidents come after four unli-
censed drivers were caught separately driving the same car on New Year’s Eve. Three of those drivers recorded blood alcohol readings over the legal limit.
