Mayor: ‘This is embarrassing’

Just before the next budget announcement Tablelands Regional councillors have finally admitted they stuffed up when adopting the 2017/2018 rate analysis. At an emotionally-charged council meeting the elected members, including the Mayor, publicly apologised to the community for the second time this year for an error that was made by council officers in its rates calculations. But Deputy Mayor Katrina Mellick (Spies) read out a damning statement criticising Mayor Joe Paronella for his conduct during the fiasco and claimed that she had lost faith in his leadership abilities.
