Youth Entrepreneurship Education in Hospitality and Tourism
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
MAIN ACTIVITIES
Youth Entrepreneurship Education in Hospitality and Tourism is a project that aims to provide non-formal training for youngsters in Georgia, Armenia and Ukraine in order to enable them to develop small businesses that make use of the touristic potential of their community. The project involves partners from six countries: Georgia, Armenia, Ukraine, Spain, Italy and Latvia. The project is co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Commission.
Research on the tourism potential of selected regions
The first stage of the project consists in developing a non-formal methodology in the area of tourism entrepreneurship for young people. For this, 24 youth workers coming from the six partner countries will create a non-formal educational program that will develop youngsters’ entrepreneurial competences and will provide them with specific information related to the tourism field. The youth workers will also develop their facilitation skills and in the next stage will deliver this program to youngsters. In the second stage, over 200 youngsters from Georgia, Armenia and Ukraine, from selected rural areas, will benefit from this educational program. Young people will discover how to link entrepreneurship with tourism and the ability to exploit local potential. Along with the tourism related competences, they will develop critical thinking, proactive behaviours, communication and team working skills. The third stage of the project is a Youth Exchange that will take place for 8 days in Telavi, Georgia and involve 48 young people with fewer opportunities coming from rural and disadvantaged areas of the six partner countries. The aim is to empower participants to develop sustainable tourism practices and create a space where they will share innovative tourism ideas. The youth exchange offers an original hands-on approach and will develop participants practical abilities, proactive behaviours, creativity and organisational skills. The participants will develop their tourism business ideas during this event. A booklet with guidelines about how to promote guest houses and hostels on online platforms at international level will be developed. The booklet is addressed to youngsters and will be distributed in local communities in the partner countries and available online on the project website. It will be published in Georgian, Armenian, Ukrainian, Italian, Spanish, Latvian and English languages.
