Measured Drawings 1.1 Object: Measured drawing set of selected object.
ALL MEASURED DRAWINGS ARE IN SCALE 1:2 ALL DIMENSIONS ARE IN MM
MEASURING/ DRAWING METHODS: The expanding file was photographed on an angle then traced in order to show all components and how they function as one object.

MEASURING/ DRAWING METHODS: Firstly the expanding file was photographed and scaled to the right scale to meet the actual measurements. Then the file was traced. This method was used to draw all th technical measured drawings.

Analysis The Folding part: This part of the expanding file is the centre of mechanism. these folds create the volume of the design as it turns the object into three-dimensional. Also, these folds need an applied force (elastic band) to stay in the shape required
FOLDS FULLY CLOSED
as it has the tendency to open up and expand.

expansion at the top, they must narrow/ meet at the bottom.

FOLDS FULLY STRETCHED
When the folds are fully stretched , it becomes flat as shown in the elevation. This explain the three dimensional shape by simply folding a flat surface using the zig zag method to enhance dimensional theme to the object.

The cover: The other part that contribute to the movement/ mechanism is the front when the elastic closure is used to close the expanding file. without the elastic band, the folds would not be fully closed .

Digital Model
The folding part was drawn using rectangle tool, and extrudesrf. Then it is copied to the second side.

Sketch Model
To design the reconfigured model, I took the folding part and cut a segment. Then the edges were connected and it looked like a flower. Therefore, i tried to make this flower shape origami.
8
Every time a force was applied to this model, the shape of it changes as well as the form. However, the main concept (zig zag) always remain.
I took one of the forms appeared in the first model to develop and create this folds in the second model.

Sketch Design #1 expanding/ loose / protective/adjustable front-when collar is opened front -when collar is closed
back-when collar is closed
The collar is flexible to expand or compress. it is similar to blossoming process
head The adjustable option in this design idea make the person choose the level of comfort/isolation they want by adjusting their personal space.
10
How does this respond to your personal space? This design can be adjusted to suit different personal spaces and different situations using the layered collar. The collar expands around the head and blocks off the disturbance. Also, this design is favorable to female as it cover the top part of the body which lead to a secure feeling.

space around the head which provide privacy and suitable personal space.
this part is the centre of movement. this sets on the head like a band/ crown.
How does this respond to your personal space? It is a simple and elegant design as it isolates you from the surroundings. It is convince to wear as it can be worn in different ways to provide comfort. Also, it can be folded and carried around easily.

Sketch Design #3 isolating/eye covered sleeping mask
SKETCH YOUR IDEA IN THIS SPACE this part can be folded down to rest USE PLAN, ELEVATION OR ISOMETRIC DRAWING TO on the neck incase it is needed to see HELP YOU EXPLAIN YOUR IDEA. what is happening around. REMEMBER: THERE IS NO BAD IDEA JUST POORLY EXECUTED ONES. YOU CAN INCLUDE ONE INSPIRATION IMAGE - THIS CAN BE YOUR PROTOTYPE/S OR CHOOSE FROM THE LIST OF PRECEDENT STUDIES ON THE LMS
How does this respond to your personal space? This idea blocks off any invasion for personal space as it covers the eyes but still having the nose and mouth area uncovered as it is preferred. These open part of the design avoid any discomfort or suffocation.
