A Rover’s Life .
Curiosity is a rover. His mission is to find life on the planet Mars. He is sent to places that scientist think water may have been at some point.
Scientist spend a lot of time debating on the spot he should land. After some time they finally decided on a landing spot called Gale Crater. Scientist decided to land curiosity there because of it’s geological features.
Curiosity has plenty of scientific equipment. One of his pieces of scientific equipment is a camera which he uses to take pictures of Mars surface.
On the 26th of November 2011, Curiosity was launched into Space to begin around a 7 month journey. Curiosity was packed inside a heat shield capsule. Inside the capsule there was a parachute that would release and slow the shield down. After he was slowed down enough a rocket booster would drop him off.
After months of waiting Curiosity successfully landed on the Red Planet on August 6, 2012! All of the landing equipment worked successfully. Everyone is super happy on Earth!
Curiosity has done many thinks on Mars. He has tested weather patterns, observed martin soil and rocks, and found a huge discovery of water vapor in a rock.
Curiosity is still discovering and exploring today. Curiosity continues to discover new things and helps up learn more about Mars.
