arietta College traces its beginnings to the establishment of the Muskingum Academy, which was founded by pioneer settlers in 1797, in Marietta, Ohio. The Academy became the first institute of higher education in the Northwest

Territory. In 1835, Marietta College received its charter from the State of Ohio to offer college-level degrees. As a result, 175 years later, Marietta College now includes more than 40 buildings over 90 acres located two blocks from downtown Marietta. Marietta College is a private, nonsectarian, coeducational, contemporary liberal arts college. As an institution of higher education, Marietta College seeks to prepare highly qualified graduates through its educational programs. Consistently ranked by U. S. News and World Report among the best liberal arts colleges in the Midwest, Marietta has attained national recognition for many of its programs, including studies in leadership education. The fall enrollment of the College was 1,450, including students from 40 states and 10 countries. The male-to-female ratio is nearly 50:50, and the student-to-faculty ratio is 13:1. The community of Marietta, Ohio, was settled in 1788 by Revolutionary War veterans and became the first settlement of the Northwest Territory. Now a city of 14,000, Marietta saw its greatest growth during the oil boom of the late 19th century. Still, Marietta has retained a particular pioneer spirit of independence and outward New England charm. Its historical significance also makes Marietta a popular location for tourists around the country. Marietta is a riverboat town situated at the confluence of the Ohio and Muskingum rivers, and many of the communityâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s most important celebrations and activities are associated with the rivers. Marietta is part of the Marietta-Parkersburg metropolitan area, which has a population of more than 130,000.

2011 Outlook

Pioneers look for continued success in ’11

xpectations are high for the Marietta College track and field program in 2011. The Pioneers, under the leadership of eighth-year Head Coach Derek Stanley, have the talent and depth to carry the program to new heights and will focus on reaching its peak during the outdoor season. Fueling the optimism is the return of 21 lettermen, including one All-American, seven national qualifiers, three OAC champions and 12 All-OAC performers. A strong corps of upperclassmen will anchor the Pioneer women, who are looking to build off a runner-up finish at both the OAC Indoor and Outdoor Championships. “The women relied heavily on jumps and sprints last season,” Stanley said. “This year, we will see much more of a collective effort across all groups as our distance runners and throwers are ready to step up and help us compete for an OAC title. The coaching staff anticipates the women will be able to hold their own against the best in the region in 2011.” Junior national qualifiers Ashley Bault and Kim Keesler carry the most fanfare into the season. Bault, a jumps specialist, earned All-OAC honors in four events last year, including the outdoor high jump in which she took home the individual title. She also provisionally qualified for nationals in both the indoor and outdoor long jump while scoring over 300 points during the indoor and outdoor seasons. It was the most for one year in the history of the program, both men and women. Keesler swept the OAC pole vault titles in 2010, earning a meet record at the outdoor championship and went on to place 14th at the NCAA Outdoor Championship after provisionally qualifying during the indoor season. Keesler should get some help from high school standout Megan Brooks in the vault. A trio of All-OAC performers and national relay qualifiers will lead the Pioneer women’s sprinting corps in 2011. Junior Lauren Asbury is a short sprint specialist and becomes the favorite in the conference this season in the 55m and 100m dashes. Junior Corryn Muench has found great success at the 400m dash and 400m hurdles along with relays, and sophomore 3

Kristeva Rowe is a long sprints standout that assists with relays and is the second ranked returning triple jumper in the conference. Junior Jessica Gebhart will also provide veteran reliability in the short hurdles this season. A healthy distance team, led by senior Stephanie Williams and juniors Jennifer Emmert and Reba Leonard, will look to improve upon its success during the cross country season. Freshman Amy Kauffman should be able to add much needed depth in the mid-distance events. Seniors Stephanie Hammond and Nikki Stone along with junior Kaitlin Schwartz bring valuable experience to the throwing events in 2011. Hammond is a two-time All-OAC performer in the weight throw, while Stone specializes in the javelin throw along with Schwartz. In addition, Aimee Cline and Kathryn Hanssen are anticipated to be noteworthy contributors to the throwing squad this season. Marietta’s men will also use a combination of veteran talent and new additions to help it make strides up the OAC standings after taking fifth and eighth, respectively, at the 2010 OAC Indoor and Outdoor Championships. “This could be a breakout year for the men’s program,” Stanley said. “We are going to be the most complete team since the reinstatement. With continued hard work, the coaching staff is very excited about the potential success we will have at the championship level.” Junior Mike Pankowski gave Pioneer fans a glimpse of the future when he won the javelin throw at the All-Ohio Championship, breaking the previous meet record, and the outdoor OAC championship before going on to earn All-American honors with a fifth place finish at the NCAA Championship. Sophomore Gaston Hayes, who earned All-OAC honors in the weight throw, will provide another veteran for the young group of throwers. Senior All-OAC performers Matt Hickman and Anthony Williams will combine with junior Ryan Householder to provide a strong stable of sprinters. Freshmen Josh Martin and Ryan Lopez-Jordan should also lead a talented group of newcomers that are expected to contribute to the team’s success in the sprints and hurdles. The versatile Martin is also expected to combine with pole vaulter Jon Monnig and high jumper Jason Hoskins to anchor a fresh corps of talented jumpers. Marietta’s distance team is running with confidence after a solid cross country campaign. Junior Terrance Wallace and sophomores Caleb Ellis and Caleb Muller will lead the harriers. Wallace and Muller both earned AllOAC honors a year ago. Tyler Cordell will be a freshman that is able to step in and make an immediate impact in the mid-distance events on the track. The Pioneers have open home indoor meets scheduled for Jan. 14, Jan. 21, Feb. 4 and Feb. 18. Marietta will also compete at the OAC Relays at Capital Jan. 29 and the All-Ohio Championship at Otterbein Feb. 12. The OAC Championship is Baldwin-Wallace Feb. 25-26 and the NCAA Indoor Championship is at Capital March 11-12. Marietta will once again open its outdoor season at Coastal Carolina (March 11-12) and Wake Forest (March 18-19) over spring break. The Pioneers will then compete in the OAC Gold Meet at Mount Union April 2 before hosting the Don Frail Invitational April 8. The All-Ohio Championship is at Ohio Wesleyan April 16. Baldwin-Wallace will host the Sparky Adams Invitational April 23. The OAC Outdoor Championship is at Mount Union April 29-30. Select individuals will then compete at a series of last chance meets in May with the hope of qualifying for the NCAA Outdoor Championship, which will take place May 26-28 at Ohio Wesleyan.

Stanley begins eighth season

erek Stanley, a native of Pataskala, Ohio, begins his eighth season as Marietta College’s Head Track & Field and Cross Country Coach in 2010-11. Stanley has been building the Track & Field/Cross Country teams into a nationally prominent program since taking the reigns in January 2004. Over the course of his tenure the Marietta track & field program has earned 98 All-OAC athletes and produced 26 OAC champions, 23 NCAA national qualifiers and five All-Americans. In addition to the track & field accolades Marietta harriers have earned nine All-OAC and two All-Region awards in cross country to go with the eight straight years of USTFCCCA Academic All-American status for the women’s team. During the 2010 cross country season, Stanley helped junior Reba Leonard and Caleb Muller both earn All-Region honors. In addition, Muller became the first Marietta runner in 32 years to qualify and run at the NCAA Championship. Stanley guided the Pioneers to their best ever finish at the 2010 OAC Indoor Championship, which was hosted in Marietta. Keyed by 15 All-OAC performances and one OAC champion, the women placed second and the men took fifth. Marietta’s women then matched their runner-up finish and the men placed eighth at the 2010 OAC Outdoor Championship. The Pioneers won six event titles and had 10 All-OAC performances during the outdoor championship. Ten student-athletes—two indoors and eight outdoors—also qualified for the national championship meet. Of those qualifiers, three participated in the 2010 NCAA Outdoor Championship, including sophomore All-American Mike Pankowski who took fifth in the Javelin Throw. In 2009, Stanley earned Great Lakes Regional Women’s Coach of the Year honors for both Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field. Both the men and women maintained their placement in the OAC, finishing sixth and fifth, respectively, at the 2009 OAC Outdoor Championship. Freshman Jayshon Irvin became the first Pioneer to receive an individual award at the OAC Championship since the program was reinstated. He earned Most Outstanding Sprinter of the Meet for his first place finishes in the 100m and 200m Dashes. Sixteen other athletes, including relay teams, earned All-OAC outdoor honors. Stanley’s program also tallied 12 All-OAC performances at the 2009 Indoor Championship, where Marietta’s women placed fourth and the men placed sixth. In addition to the track & field program’s strong performance within the OAC, Marietta had nine different NCAA qualifying performances for the men’s and women’s team in 2009. Three athletes earned the opportunity to represent Marietta at the national level. Two Pioneers competed at the

2009 NCAA Division III Outdoor Championship, which was hosted at home in Don Drumm Stadium. Freshman Jayshon Irvin and sophomore Zach Gay both received All-American honors at the outdoor event. Irvin placed sixth in the 100m Dash, while Gay placed eighth in the High Jump. Senior Brian Pallini also earned All-American honors with his eighth place finish in the Weight Throw at the 2009 NCAA Division III Indoor Championship. In the fall of 2009, the men and women’s cross country teams both ran to a sixth place finish at the OAC Championship. Senior Josh Mickle took 16th overall and became the first male runner in almost four decades to earn All-OAC accolades. In 2008, the men and women’s placed seventh and fifth place finish, respectively, at the OAC Cross Country Championship, hosted by Marietta at the Broughton Nature and Wildlife Education Area. Individually, junior Randi Robertson placed third in the women’s race, the second best finish for a Pioneer woman in school history. Freshman Jennifer Emmert also received All-OAC honors for her 17th place finish in the race. The teams went on to their best finishes in program’s history at the Great Lakes Regional Championship where the women finished 12th of 34 teams and the men finished 23rd of 34 teams. Stanley came to Marietta from Bluffton College, where he served as the head men and women’s track and cross country coach since 2001. During his time at Bluffton, a member of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference, the Beavers had four individual HCAC champions in 2002 and the Freshman of the Year in the HCAC in 2003. In addition, his women’s cross country team earned Academic All-American status in 2001 and 2002, and his men’s cross country team earned the honor in 2002. Stanley received his bachelor’s of Business Administration from Tiffin University in 1999 and his master’s in Education from Bowling Green State University in 2002. Although focusing mainly on distance events, he qualified to the indoor NAIA national championship meet in Lincoln, Neb., where he represented Tiffin on the 4x400 meter relay team. Stanley remained at Tiffin as a graduate assistant coach for two years following his graduation. During his time at Tiffin, Stanley coached numerous student-athletes to the NAIA national championships. Stanley holds USATF coaching education certificates in the following areas: Level 1, Level 2 (Jumps, Throws, Sprints, Hurdles & Relays and Endurance). He is also a certified instructor for USATF Level 1 coaching education schools. Stanley and his wife Kristin live in Marietta.

Ken Ciolek

en Ciolek begins his second season as an assistant coach with the Marietta College track and field and cross country programs. Ciolek was named the Great Lakes Region Women’s Assistant Coach of the Year during the 2010 indoor season. Two of his studentathletes provisionally qualified for the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championship. He also had three Marietta student-athletes qualify for and two compete at the 2010 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championship, including sophomore Mike Pankowski, who earned All-America honors with a fifth place finish in the Javelin Throw. Ciolek also participated in the 2010 USA Track & Field/US Olympic Committee Emerging Elite Coaches Training Camp this past summer at the US Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif. Ciolek maintains a solid coaching resume, having coached at both the high school and collegiate levels. He spent two years as an assistant coach at SUNY-Brockport. During his time with the Golden Eagles, Ciolek guided eight national qualifiers, including three All-America honorees and the 2008 national champion in the indoor triple jump. In addition to his duties at SUNY-Brockport, he has also served as an assistant coach with the Western New York Roadrunners, a local running club, for two years. Ciolek also assisted two different programs at the high school level for five seasons where he coached 16 national qualifiers, including a national champion in the high jump. “I look forward to continuing the progress that was made last season and obtaining even greater heights,” Ciolek said. “I feel that with the returners that we have along with some outstanding incoming freshmen that we will be able to continue to be a mainstay on the national and conference levels.” Ciolek received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from SUNYBrockport in 2007. A two-time national qualifier in both the javelin and decathlon, he earned All-America honors in the javelin after finishing second as a senior. During his two years with the Golden Eagles, Ciolek was named All-State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) on eight different occasions. He currently holds the school and conference record in the javelin. Ciolek began his collegiate career at Buffalo State, where he earned All- New York State Collegiate Track Conference Association (NYSCTCA) honors 10 times. He also held the Buffalo State record in the javelin, decathlon and heptathlon. “Ken is a great fit for this program with his experience in D-III track and field. His experience with national caliber athletes will help us keep moving our program closer to a conference championship and national prominence.” Ciolek, who lives in Marietta, has an USATF level II certification with a concentration in jumps, sprints, hurdles and relays. He is also a USATF level I certified instructor.

Jonathan Graupmann

onathan Graupmann begins his second season as an assistant coach with the Marietta College track and field program. Graupmann will once again coach the Pioneers’ sprinters and hurdlers in 2010-11. In 2009-10, Graupmann, a member of the OAC Indoor Women’s Coaching Staff of the Year, coached NCAA Division III Outdoor Championship qualifiers in the 400m Hurdles as well as the 4x100m and 4x400m Relays. In addition, four of his student-athletes were named to the Women’s Division III All-Academic Track and Field Team by the USTFCCAA. Graupmann had served as a coach and administrator at the Northern Kentucky Track Club in Crestview Hills, Ky., since 2008. During his time there, he helped athletes qualify to the Nike Indoor and Outdoor National Championship, USA Track & Field (USATF) World Youth Trials, USATF Junior Championship and USATF Youth Championship. During the spring of 2008, Graupmann also coached sprints, jumps and hurdles at Dixie Heights High School in Erlanger, Ky. His team finished runner-up in its region and had athletes qualify for the Kentucky State Championship in eight events, including the Boys 300m Hurdle State Champion. “I am very excited about the potential of our Men and Women programs heading into the 2010-11 season,” Graupmann said. “With the return of our core group of conference point scorers, it will give us the ability to be serious contenders for the Indoor and Outdoor Conference team titles.” Graupmann earned a Bachelor of Arts in History and Political Science from Ohio Northern University in 2007. He was a four-year national qualifier on the Polar Bears track and field team. The five-time Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) champion earned All-America honors as a member of the ONU’s 4x100m Relay at the 2005 NCAA Division III Championship. Graupmann, who lives in Marietta, has an USATF level II coaching certification in sprints, hurdles and relays.

BRIAN PALLINI

rian Pallini begins his second season as an assistant coach with the Marietta College Track and Field program. Pallini will once again coach the Pioneers’ throwers in 2010-11. “I look forward to having continued success this season with not only the throws but the team as a whole.” Pallini said. In 2009-10, Pallini, a member of the OAC Indoor Women’s Coaching Staff of the Year, coached an NCAA Division III Championship qualifier in the Discus Throw. He also guided two All-OAC performers at the league’s Indoor Championship and one of his student-athletes was named to the Men’s Division III All-Academic Track and Field Team by the USTFCCAA. Pallini was a four-year letterman in both indoor and outdoor track and field. During his career, he compiled an impressive resume. The five-time All-Ohio Athletic Conference honoree won the OAC’s Weight Throw title in 2008. In 2009, Pallini earned All-America honors after taking eighth place in the Weight Throw at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championship. He holds the school records in four events–Shot Put (indoor and outdoor), Weight Throw and Hammer Throw. The Medina, Ohio, native graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics in 2009. He holds a level I coaching certification from the USATF.

D-III’s Best Conference

he 2009-10 year proved, once again, why the OAC is one of the most prestigious Division III conferences in the country. The Mount Union football program completed its fourth straight undefeated regular-season, while making its 13th overall Stagg Bowl appearance. The Ohio Northern volleyball team recorded its 33rd straight winning season and made its 10th straight NCAA Tournament appearance. The Otterbein women’s soccer team advanced to the “Sweet 16” of the NCAA Tournament. Wilmington’s Callen Martin won the indoor 55-meter dash national title. Ohio Northern wrestler Luke Miller claimed the national title in the 157-pound weight class. The Mount Union women’s basketball team advanced to the “Sweet 16” of the NCAA Championship. The Heidelberg baseball team made its first appearance in the NCAA Division III World series, while the Ohio Northern softball team advanced deep into another NCAA Tournament. Individually, the Conference was represented by over 60 All-Americans. Academically, the OAC boasted numerous CoSIDA ESPN the Magazine Academic All-Americans, along with regional and national coaching honors. The Ohio Athletic Conference, the third oldest conference in college athletics, is predated only by the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (1888) and the Big Ten (1895). The Conference is older than the World Series and even the NCAA itself and has survived two world wars, the Great Depression, the Korean War and the Vietnam Conflict. From a modest beginning of six charter members in 1902, the OAC grew to as many as 24 members in the mid-1920s. Through the years, a total of 31 colleges and universities at one time or another have been members of the OAC. Currently the Conference consists of 10 members, including Baldwin-Wallace College, Capital University, Heidelberg University, John Carroll University, Marietta College, Mount Union College, Muskingum University, Ohio Northern University, Otterbein College and Wilmington College. Wilmington became the 31st OAC member school on July 1, 2000. In the OAC’s first year of existence, 1902, the first Conference champion was crowned Case Tech won the football title with a 5-0-0 record. Outdoor track was added a year later and a third sport, cross country, became a Conference sport in 1914. More sports were steadily added to the OAC’s repertoire throughout the years, culminating in the addition of women’s sports in 1984. The Conference currently sponsors championships in 21 sports, 11 men’s and 10 women’s. The enrollments at the 10 OAC institutions range from 1,200 to 4,500. All of the schools were founded in the 19th century and have long and outstanding academic reputations. While maintaining these high academic standards, Ohio Athletic Conference athletic teams and athletes have consistently enjoyed a great deal of success on a regional and national level. The athletic competition is viewed not as an end in itself, but as an extension of the educational programs.

trong individual performances highlighted the 2010 season for the Marietta College men’s and women’s cross country teams. Head Coach Derek Stanley’s young Pioneers, which had to replace 11 graduated seniors, finished sixth and seventh, respectively in the men’s and women’s standings at the Ohio Athletic Conference Championship. Sophomore Caleb Muller pioneered Marietta’s program back onto the national scene by becoming the first student-athlete to represent the institution at the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championship in 32 years. He earned All-OAC honors after taking second at the OAC Championship and All-Region honors after placing 10th at the NCAA Great Lake Region before finishing 251st at the national meet. Muller, the team’s Most Valuable Runner, also became the fastest runner since the program’s reinstatement in 2002. In the midst of a rebuilding season the main goals of the year were to improve individual performance and maintain position at the conference championship meet. The Pioneer men were able to accomplish these goals ending the season on a successful note. Sophomore Caleb Ellis earned All-OAC second team honors despite a nagging hamstring injury. Junior Terrance Wallace dropped 52 seconds off his personal record and ran varsity at every meet. Sophomore Sean Hoover bettered his personal record by 92 seconds and was named the team’s Most Improved Runner and junior Andy Guimond, who improved his personal record by 111 seconds, all helped the Pioneer men exceed expectations in 2010. Marietta’s men began the season with a fifth place finish at Salisbury University’s Sea Gull Opener and a runner-up finish at its Carl Broughton Invitational. The Pioneers then placed eighth at the Otterbein Invitational and 12th in Division III at the All-Ohio Championship. Marietta followed with a 24th place finish at Oberlin’s Inter-Regional Rumble before taking sixth at the OAC Championship and 20th at the Great Lakes Regional Championship. The end was the strongest part of the men’s season with a good conference finish and the first top 20 finish at the regional championship since the reinstatement. The Marietta women trying to rebuild their program as well relied heavily on their returners to lead the charge on the course. Junior Reba Leonard, senior Stephanie Williams, senior Mehgan Cline and junior Jen Emmert became the focal point of moving the team forward. Injuries and fitness became an issue shortly after the start of the season. Despite the injuries the team was able to find success through a hard working freshman class and solid performance from returners. Leonard represented the Pioneer women well at both the OAC Championship, where she earned All-OAC honors after taking 10th, and the Great Lakes Regional, where she earned All-Region after placing 29th. Leonard, the team’s Most Valuable Runner, posted the fastest 5k and second fastest 6k time since the program’s reinstatement in 2002. Williams was named the Most Improved Runner after knocking over a minute off her previous personal best. Sophomore Lydia Tillmaand, Cline, freshmen Amy Kauffman and freshman Emily Lorek also provided a strong showing each week to help overcome the season ending injury to Emmert. The Pioneer women opened their campaign by taking sixth at the Sea Gull Opener and second at the Carl Broughton Invitational. Marietta then placed 10th at the Otterbein Invitational and 18th at the Inter-Regional Rumble before taking seventh at the OAC Championship. The Pioneers also competed at the All-Ohio and Great Lakes Regional championships but did not score as a team.

The Broughton Nature and Wildlife Education Area

Pioneer Facilities

Marietta Facilities The wildlife area contains more than 500 acres of land filled with grass paths and wooded trails. Located just three miles from campus, the nature preserve varies terrain through the scenic hillside. Broughtonâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s is an ideal training venue for cross country and also serves as the home course for both Marietta College and Marietta High School.

Dyson Baudo Recreation Center

In 2003, the Dyson Baudo Recreation Center (DBRC) opened on the Marietta College campus. The five-year, 19 million-dollar project established a wellness facility to host varsity, intramural and personal athletic activities in the renovated 54,000 square-foot Ban Johnson Arena and a newly constructed 84,000 square-foot fieldhouse. The DBRC contains an indoor track that encircles four multipurpose courts, a crew training facility, a fitness center, two racquetball courts, a wheelchair-accessible weight room, a multipurpose room and a two-story climbing wall. Varsity athletes and recreational walkers travel countless miles on the six-lane, two-hundred meter indoor track. Made of Mondo, the same surface used at the Olympic Games, the facility commonly hosts indoor collegiate and high school track & field meets, as well as a wide variety of sports camps.

Annasenz Track at Don Drumm Stadium

Named after legendary Marietta High School track coach Bob Annasenz, the track and Don Drumm Stadium carry much history. The stadium was built in 1916 and had a cinder track, which remained until the 1980s. A latex surface was installed in place of the cinders to make the track one of the best facilities in the region to run on. In 2004, Marietta College negotiated the reacquisition of the stadium and track from the Marietta City School District. This allowed the College to move forward with a $2 million Fields Project to improve the facility and make it once again a great place to run. Along with the FieldTurf football venue, a polyurethane base mat system was installed during the summer of 2005 and was ready for competition beginning in the spring of 2006. Other improvements included adding a steeplechase pit, new shot put area and a hammer/discus cage as well as a javelin runway. Don Drumm Stadium was the site of the 2009 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championship.

Marietta Administration

Marietta Administration President, Dr. Jean A. Scott

A new era began at Marietta College on July 15, 2000, when Dr. Jean A. Scott became the 17th President of the College. She is the first female president at Marietta College. Most recently, Scott was president of Bradford College, in Haverhill, Mass. Scott graduated with a major in history from Westhampton College at the University of Richmond where she was elected Phi Beta Kappa and earned her A.B. degree in 1968. She then attended Harvard University and received her M.A. in history in 1969 and her Ph.D. in history in 1974. “I am very excited at the opportunity to lead the college with the rich traditions and bright future that Marietta enjoys,” Scott said. Since Scott’s arrival at Marietta the campus has grown to include many new buildings and facilities, enriching the educational experience for all of its students.

Athletics Director, Larry Hiser

Larry Hiser joined Marietta College in March of 2008. He oversees a NCAA Division III athletics program with 18 varsity sports and the College’s recreation and intramural programs and facilities. Prior to joining Marietta, Hiser was the Director of Athletics and Head Baseball Coach at Endicott College in Beverly, Mass., from 1995-2008. Under his watch the Endicott teams won 37 conference championships and participated in 47 NCAA or ECAC tournaments. His baseball teams averaged over 20 wins per year in 13 seasons and won five league championships and one ECAC championship. Endicott also successfully launched new programs for equestrian, lacrosse and football, while improving its facilities that now rank among the finest in New England. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from Ohio Northern University in 1987, where he was an all-conference shortstop on the Polar Bears baseball team. He went on to earn a Master of Science in Physical Education/Athletic Administration from Springfield College in Massachusetts, where he was a graduate assistant. He joined Endicott College in the fall of 1994 as the Gulls’ first baseball and basketball coach. The Oregon, Ohio, native is married to the former Susan Chick (of Williamstown, Mass.). The couple has two children, Dan, 11 and Allison, 9. 30
