I’ve learned 5 new things about dramatic photography
The beauty of photography is its unique ability to communicate in a way unlike other visual mediums. It is meant to be a fraction of time, yet a moment frozen for as long as the photo exists.
Dramatic photographs can transport a stranger somewhere they have never been or record an intimate personal memory of the creator. By just looking at this dramatic photograph, one sees a whole story unfold with a beginning, middle, and end.
What does the concept of drama mean to you? Is it darkness and shadow? Contrast? Expression? Mood? A combination of all these elements? A true photograph master can control all these elements to create drama.
Everything in photography boils down to light. Manipulating light for dramatic effect is an art in itself. But, before we can use light, we first look at how we see light and how we see a photograph.
Looking at this image on the right, I’ve learned there are 5 things one notice first: 1. THE MIDDLE We notice things in the center of the image first and work toward the edges
2. THE BRIGHT PART Our eyes are attracted to the most luminous part of the image
