Welcome to the

Marine Theatre’s SPRING SEASON

Welcome to our new season programme. There are so many reasons to come and visit us this Spring including theatre, film, music, comedy, opera, family shows, talks and workshops. The Marine turns producing house this year with a co-production with theatre company The Outbound Project, and an exciting commission of a brand new play Monmouth by our patron Andrew Rattenbury. Come and see a preview of the play this February before it is staged as our community play for 2017 in July. Plus, Lyme Youth Theatre takes to the stage for prestigious National Theatre Connections Festival in March. Thanks to the donation of top of the range cinema equipment we will be continuing to show films at the Marine this season as the Regent Cinema is being rebuilt. Finally we welcome Dottie Kitchen to the Marine who will be taking over our cafe and providing delicious hot, hearty and healthy food at many of our events.

Monmouth

Following on from the success of last year’s community play The Tempest of Lyme, the Marine has commissioned a brand new play written by our patron Andrew Rattenbury (Tempest of Lyme, Doc Martin, The Golden Hour) telling the story of the Monmouth Rebellion which began in Lyme in 1685. This new play will be staged in July 2017 as our next Community Play, in partnership with the Arts University Bournemouth. We would love to hear from people of all ages interested to be involved onstage or backstage. All ages and experience welcome! Please get in touch officeassistant@marinetheatre.com

8

This season we've organised a history series of talks, films and events exploring the people, places and politics of the 1685 Monmouth Rebellion (see overleaf), and there's a chance to hear a preview of the brand new play 'Monmouth' at the Marine Theatre in February, before it previews at Salisbury Playhouse's Theatre Fest West.
