WePhoto Portrait 2018 Vol 5 Dear all, This is yet another proud moment to be releasing the next edition in Portrait Photography under our ‘Series’ banner. Since 2014 when WePhoto Group was founded we have come this far out of sheer passion for the art. Over the time, thanks to the continuous help and support of many likeminded colleagues who have been as enthusiast as I am, that we have created many platforms and thematic pages to represent the various genres in photography. Today WePhoto group has the widest presence across Facebook representing almost every possible genre of photography. As of date there are thematic pages, with picture boards on Pinterest, a dedicated web portal and more than seventy e-books published on issuu.com. This annual collection called - The Series - is made of eBooks each belonging to a specific photographic theme, and includes the artwork of several authors from Italy and abroad. The one in your hands is the fifth thematic book dedicated to Portrait Photography. Apart from the e-version these publications are available in the form of coffee table books as well. Osservate a fondo questi occhi. Ognuno nasconde un profondo sentimento. For us, the human beings, there could be nothing more ‘personal’ than a portrait. You look through a pair of eyes and find every single person hiding some emotions deep within. Making of a portrait involves intricate techniques, observant eyes, and a creative mind because a portrait is not supposed to be merely an image; it rather has to hold the essence of the individual personality. Whether it is a gorgeous girl with languid eyes, a rude old man with his skin marked by time, or a child with sad eyes, their portrait has to strike the conscience of a viewer. It has to make them lose their heart. Our job as a photographer is to seize the dream of that girl and make the viewer feel the sourness of the old man’s suffering. Presented here within is a collection of some best works of our time. Mario Bunčuga

ELENA LEMBO Roma, Italia

I am a semi-professional photographer from Rome. My sedentary job has done nothing to appease my desire to escape which came to the fore, in all its power, when Kongo first came into my life. My love for my gorgeous and extremely playful Labrador puppy and that for photography worked hand in hand. So I got myself a Reflex and immediately realized that I wouldn't have gone very far without adequate preparation. So I started studying, first attending a beginners course, then moving on to an advanced level, other than various workshops. That is when my love for portraits became apparent: whenever I could, I'd go out and play photographer with my friends, just to apply what I had learned. As my desire to photograph people was starting to show, I started developing a different kind of eye and realized that I was even looking at people differently. Thanks to my passion, today I am able to satisfy both my curiosity and my keen sense of freedom. My victory is when I am able to tip-toe into people's lives, turning their emotions and that particular moment into an everlasting memory. 22

facebook.com/atriendu.kar1 aktouchphotography.com facebook.com/aktpfashion instagram.com/atriendu/ Born and raised in Agartala, a small northeastern state of India, I am a BTech graduate by qualification. I liked painting since my childhood days. That was the only way for me to ex p re ss m ys e l f. B u t m y i n te re st i n photography has flowing in my veins ever since my father brought me an analog Kodak camera. I had a desire to capture human beauty in all possible forms. It has realized since my passion has turned into a profession over the past few years. The undying quest for detailing, clarity, composition and framing has helped me create an aura that I always aspired for. I shoot for quality over quantity and do the retouching all by myself.

MAHESH KRISHNAMURTHY Jakarta, Indonesia

facebook.com/mahesh.krishnamurthy.980

My name is Mahesh Krishnamurthy, and I was born in Hyderabad, India, and now live in Jakarta, Indonesia. My passion for photography began 10 years ago when I started traveling. In the initial few years, it was all about capturing landscapes, cityscapes, and historical objects, but now my passion has eventually metamorphosed into photographing people, more precisely “Natural Light Street Portraits in Black & White.

Now, I take close-ups of people from different parts of the world, preferring individuals in the backstreets rather than the high street. It gives me a lot of joy in making simple, ordinary, unimportant and everyday people on the street look dignified. Although I take pictures of people of all ages, I like weathered and tempered faces, which show experience, emotions, and wisdom. My biggest influence in portraiture is Bruce Gilden, but I also like Lee Jeffries and Steve McCurry. 46

MARCO DE SANTIS Vercelli, Italia

I was born in a quiet town of northern Italy, Vercelli, in 1983. From an early age I started taking pictures with an old camera, when the film rolls were still ruling the photography world. Growing up I got to enhance my creativity and observation skills. I obtained my first Nikon SLR in 2011 as a gift and started with clicking landscapes both natural and urban- and street life during my trips abroad. In 2014 I decided to start a well-informed and technically advanced photographic journey, and so I attended a photography course for 6 months at the Academy of Marco Lussoso, a well-known fashion and sports photographer and war photojournalist in past. Experimenting with various genres, including sports photography, I decided to focus more on portraits, combining my experience in landscapes with new lessons learned. With an aim to arouse emotions, sensation and awe in my viewers, my portraits are characterized by a pleasing arrangement of colors. The subjects that I portray must impress me by expressiveness and their eyes must transmit an emotion that I could showcase through my photography. 58

MICHELE MAGLIO Bologna, Italia

micmagliophoto@gmail.com micmagliophoto.wixsite.com/micphoto instagram.com/mic__photo facebook.com/mic330photo

Camera Setup Sony A7, 35mm f1.4 Sony/Zeiss, 55mm 1.8 Sony/Zeiss Fujifilm XT2, Fujinon 56mm f1.2, Fujinon 16mm f1.4, Fujinon 35mm f1.4 My Workflow Adobe Bridge / Abobe Photoshop CC/ Nik Collection Apple Aperture 3.0 / Nik Collection / Adobe Photoshop

I became interested in photography a few years ago, when my passion for music pushed me towards photographing live music; but soon I discovered that my true passion lied in people and management of natural light. For me the models are very important but often they do not play a fundamental role in my photography. I try to express through them what I think or see. I try to describe my world as dark, different and surreal.. my way of expressing the state of mind in my photographs. 70
