WePhoto - 2016 - Reportage - Vol 5

WePhoto “The Series” Reportage Vol 5 Dear all, I am very proud to introduce the new collection “The Series”. It was not so long ago since we have launched the first eBook, including the photographic work of the 15 administrators, who at that time were cooperating in the “WePhoto” group. Since then, we have published 21 eBooks and the Special edition “Calendar 2015” and now two Calendars 2016. This new collection – The Series - is made of different eBooks, each one (or more than one if required) related to a specific photographic theme, including the artworks of several authors from Italy and abroad. This is the Fifth eBook of the Ten line of this new collection and has been dedicated to Reportage Photography.

We are all so excited and happy to be able to collect such beautiful images and, most of all to be able to share them with a wide audience. Spread, share, recommend everyone to download eBooks from our webpages and links below. Also make sure to leave your feedback on the eStores – 5 stars comments would be great. RATE IT! You can really help us growing and sharing our beloved passion for photography! In this eBook you can also find the links to our Facebook Group. Come and join, invite friends to share and enjoy some of the best images from around the world!

GIULIO LICCARI Trieste Italy

I am a Medical student in my last year at the University of Trieste. I love travelling and I started taking pictures in 2012 with my first Canon while I was away. I especially like to take portraits as I believe that faces can tell us lots of stories, real or imaginary, something that a landscape could never do. 10

My passion for exploring the country and travelling to different places all over the country brought me with the zeal of becoming a tour guide. That is where the job of a Travel Photographer holds a significant role. He/She visits the world known tourist places and other places of historic significance, and captures the places in the form of photos, so that he can use these photos to promote the places among the tourists and other travelers across the globe. My pictures got into various magazines Like Indian Talent, Asian Photography Magzine etc, awarded several time online, taken by various regional tourism department (Uttar Pradesh tourism) for their promotions, being part of numerous Galleries, exhibition etc. Life has turned out amazing as a tour guide and photographer and I wish to explore as much as possible. Glimpses of the Naga Sadhus at the Maha Kumbh The Maha-Kumbh Mela is a Hindu pilgrimage held along the banks of sacred rivers at four different holy locations, once every 12 years at each site, and attract millions of devotees nationwide as well as culture enthusiasts from all over the world. These pictures taken during the Ujjain Simhastha Kumbh, held along river Shipra in Ujjain depict the famous Naga Sadhus midst the festivities. The Naga Sadhus or naked yogis, are trident-wielding renunciates who are followers of Lord Shiva. They reside in the Himalayas and come down to associate with the civilization only during the Kumbh Melas, where they take the first dip in the holy waters, according to the order within the tradition. They can be spotted easily during the fair, due to their characteristic ash-covered bodies and dreadlocks.

ARKA DUTTA Kolkata, India

www.arkadutta.com arka.dutta@hotmail.com

I am a Mechanical Engineer by profession, living in Kolkata and an independent photographer who loves to engage in social and cultural documentary related photography. Two of my great passions in life is travel and photography. I believe that travel broadens one's view of the world and photography is my continuous lesson of living in the moment. I love to experience other cultures, meet different people from diverse communities. Through my photography I seek to document my own personal experience, and to capture the scenes and events as I see them and share them. Living in the moment and capturing it, is my way of sharing with the world how I see things; whether it be humorous, sad, serious, playful, profound or just plain. Photography helps me to express my personality and how I view this world we all live in.

Water

Perhaps the most important element of our life – water. Not it is essential for our survival biologically, but our we are dependent on it in every aspect from livelihood to emotions. Sometimes water brings us joy, sometimes sorrow and difficulty. Sometimes it is a prayer, sometimes it is a destroyer. All in all, our lives are connected to it intricately in every way. But we cannot survive without water, and should conserve it by all means. 58

TOWFIQ CHOWDHURY Dhaka, Bangladesh

towfiqchowdhury.hr@gmail.com

My name is Towfiq Chowdhury. I live in Dhaka the capital of Bangladesh. Before I took up photography I loved to observe how different photographers used their work to tell a story. So when I decided to take up photography I had a clear idea of the kind of photography I wanted to do. For me I think photography is a language to communicate with people. There is lots of injustice occurring everyday in our society many of them don’t find anyone to tell their horrible story. Whenever I get chance I visit different place and meet with people who face a daily struggle to survive. I like to talk to them and try to experience their way of life. I don't mind getting my hands dirty. I spend time with them make fun with them and try to hear their story. I always keep my camera ready when I spend time with those survivors and wait for the right moment. I called them survivor because they have very hard life. I believe photography can bring lot of positive changes in our life. Today, I count myself blessed, having become a photographer. 70
