Through The Eyes of Women - Vol. 2 Dear all, It feels great pleasure in announcing the second exclusive collection in a row with some of the best works of contemporary women photographers. This is an occasion for the viewers to explore the world brought to the fore with a purely feminine perspective. One may be intrigued to know the purpose behind an exclusive series on women by the women. Well, the reason is to break the universal presumption where the word Photographer has been very conveniently associated with males in the leading role, which is not true. The world has beheld the league of a few equally competent and successful female photographers in the past, but in the present times, this number has grown fairly large. For us, there is no better way to celebrate such successes than dedicating an entire series to these distinguished women. It makes tremendous sense to offer a free space to these explorers of reality to admire all the facets of life from the sensitivity different from that of men. Together as explorers, we enter this fascinating world Trough the Eyes of Women. WOMAN
Woman. For millennia, they have been exploited by man, relegated to a subordinate role, considered inferior both by various cultures and religions that exist even today in many places. Some cultures still force women to hide and be veiled, stay at home for the children and chores without access to social life or education. She is often an object of prey and possession by man, looked at as merely a matter of pleasure and use. Yet several historians claim that art was born in the prehistoric age from the sensibility of the woman. While the man was hunting, the woman developed an artistic sense, giving rise to artifacts, music, their culture and other artistic forms of which man then took possession. In the West, only a little over a century ago, thanks to the courageous movement for women’s rights, women have traveled that has led, at least on paper, to a closer parity with men. In many parts of this world, women can finally access every level of education and make a contribution showing their competence, sensitivity and creativity to enhance the development of humanity. It is with this spirit that this series is born: to explore the world through a woman’s eyes. We invite you to take a look at how these, our partners in life, interpret through their images our realties.

By profession, I am economist and work for a bank. Since my childhood I have been interested in arts from literature to fine art and I've always felt the need for poetry, beauty and visual expression. I like traveling, getting to know more about various cultures, learning about human fate and discovering the beauties of nature. My first goal was postcard level photography, but later I found out that there is much more to photography than just postcards.
I could express my feelings, capture the fate of people, tell an entire story, point out the beauty of nature or the beauty of a human creation. Further later I found out that there are more possibilities hidden in black-and-white imagery; it allows putting individual features in the spotlight, captures the essence and it has a stronger representation of abstraction. While taking or processing pictures I experience the “flow”, as this activity gives me a perfect feeling of relaxation and pleasure. In addition, it provides an opportunity to always learn new things due to its endless possibilities. I’ve participated in several international photography contests and received many prizes. I’ve already received the titles from the Hungarian Photography Association and from the European Photography Association as EFIAP/b and AMAFOSZ/b photography artist respectively. 10

ELENA SALVAI Carrara, Italia facebook.com/SalvaiElena/?pnref=story facebook.com/elena.salvai.96 instagram.com/elenasalvai.photo/
Born in Carrara, I have always been a great lover of nature and open spaces - elements in perfect harmony with my free spirit. After studying at the university I started trekking in the Apuan Alps. The breathtaking sceneries of these mountains rising from the sea lead me to grow passionate about photography, wherein I find a perfect means to immerse myself deeply in nature and be able to seize certain unrepeatable moments forever.
Nature is therefore the absolute protagonist, seen in its most extreme and spectacular moments. Understanding its strength but also its fragility and consequently the respect we must have for our planet are the main aims of my shots. In addition to publication in many magazines and books, informative evenings and workshops, I have participated in exhibitions such as: Dalmine Maggio Fotografia, International Photographic Exhibition "In search of a lost memory", Tramonti Italiani in Pietrasanta, biennial of Riomagno Fotofestival, Terrasini in Photo 2018, and Rimini, Viareggio, Colle Val D’elsa. Exhibition and popular evening at the Alfieri theatre in Castelnuovo Garfagnana, personal exhibition at Rivanazzano Terme and participation in the Montier International Wildlife Photography Festival in France. 22

The love for photography started with my daughter. The enchanting looks I wanted to capture all day long drove me to photography and after having taken many pictures of my daughter, I decided to take a step further to also photograph other children.
Children are so pure. When they smile, they really smile. It is wonderful to photograph such a smiling face, but the serious looks are just as beautiful. It is very enchanting to catch a serious look, because it says something about the personality of the child. In this way every image and every facial expression tells its own story. I like to record this story. 34

Women are like flowers: if you try to open them by force, all you get in your palm are its petals and the flower withers and dies.
Women can blossom only with warmth that nurtures their soul.. while love and tenderness together play the role of Sun for them. Women starve for pure and honest love, and when they feel loved, they open up their heart and give back their whole world in return. 46

I like to take pictures from my daughter's point of view that shows the world from the eyes of a child - ever-changing and colorful. She has influenced my own style of photography over the years. My main interest is child photography and I believe children's photography can also be as gorgeous, stylish and retro as the magazine ads, especially without losing the innocence unique to the children. It is important to keep in mind the theme, character, and costume you want to shoot with in order to translate your imagination to camera.
The use of Photoshop has paid me back in enhancing my images and adding effects, thus making them more interesting and intriguing. I have never attended a photography course and have realized that self-studied photography has let me be more creative and experimental, in turn helping me shoot the most innovative and beautiful portraits. I use Canon 5D Mark II for the camera, and my go-to lenses are 70-200/F2.8, 50mm/F1.8, 50mm/F1.2. What you will find in my portraits is the attributes of a child, which are naturally beautiful, kind, and untouched by the world around them, and I try to record them in my photographs. 58
