Fabergé Egg DIGITAL DESIGN AND FABRICATION FOR PUBLIC ART EXHIBIT IN LONDON

STATE LOCALE WITH POSITION PHASES ROLE

As one of just six architects amongst a field of world-class artists participating in the 2012 Fabergé Big Egg Hunt, Fourfoursixsix set forth to create a piece that dealt with architectural concepts such as light, and space, and aperture in a poetic and artistic way. I was brought on as a freelance designer to help them conceptualize and execute a •  COMPLETE 2012 daring design which pushed the •  LONDON, UK limits of parametric tools and •  FOURFOURSIXSIX tested the thresholds of digital •  FREELANCE fabrication. •  DESIGN & BUILD •  PARAMETRIC DESIGN, While most of the executed PREPARATION FOR pieces in the city wide exhibit FABRICATION were decorated shells, we sought to question the solidity of the form. We imbued the shell with depth and created a fine lattice work that allow for a transparency, and inferiority. This spatial quality set this piece apart from not only the artist in the field but the other architects as well. The final piece was well publicized in sites dedicated to both design and fabrication. It was selected by the exhibit organizers to be one of a select few pieces sold at private auction to benefit local charities.

MICHAEL KORS FLAGSHIP BRAND ENHANCING DESIGN FOR THIS AMERICAN LABEL’S ENTRANCE INTO ASIA This design is the result of thorough brand analysis and establishes a new standard for Michael Kors retail presence.

The result is a facade with a pattern that exists in the space between order and randomness. The success of this project has led Michael Kors to truly embrace the design and internalize it as part of their brand. KPF has subsequently developed a more comprehensive set of architectural guidelines allowing Michael Kors to achieve the same degree of delicacy, subtlety, and material richness given variable site constraints and variable budgets.

Additionally, the metabolist nature of the supertower allow it to shift in its massing and a manner that responds to the mix of uses. Thus the floor plate is optimized at each level, whether the program is office, hotel, or residential.

Z3 TOWER A SIMPLE MASSING WITH AN EXQUISITELY ARTICULATED TEXTURED FACADE Located at the gateway to Beijing’s new Central Business District, Z3 will be distinguished by it’s clarity. It’s simple chamfered massing and richly textured facade offer a marked contrast to much of the development in China today which often favors opulent form over architectural refinement. IN DEVELOPMENT BEIJING, CHINA KPF DESIGNER SD , DD, CD TOWER FACADE, PRIMARY PUBLIC SPACES, MAIN ENTRY CANOPY

The facade system in developement advances KPF’s long history of designing and building richly articulated, technically advanced facade systems. Instead of a flat facade wrapping a form, we’ve developed a deep shingled wall with tapered aluminum fins. A shingled wall with this depth has never before been built, and as such is testing the limits of advanced curtain wall design. At the tower’s base the shingled wall peels away creating integral canopies and revealing the refined lobby spaces within. The formal language of carving and texture finds it’s way into the interior with bold forms and subtle material treatments.

STATE LOCALE WITH POSITION PHASES ROLE

Like many coastal North American cities, Vancouver is experiencing a major building boom. BELGIUM, BE SOM JUNIOR DESIGNER DD + CD ROOF DESIGN, FACADES, VISUALIZATION, DOCUMENTATION

On a project with design criteria including embassy level security, modern flexible office space, a comprehensive conference center, common amenity space the team was vast and evolving. Yet I managed to remain an integral team member from the beginning of Design Development through the completion of Construction Documents. My focus on this years long effort was all of the roof systems and select, atypical facade systems. Working with talented technical architects, I learned a remarkable amount about what it takes to realize a project of this magnitude and complexity.
