To widen my understanding of architecture, design and society as a whole, I have travelled. Amsterdam taught me about proportion, elegance and beauty and how something as simple as a curtainless window can be symbolic of an open and tolerant society.
Crane and Associates 52 High Street Esher Surrey
In Paris I discovered the meaning of density and in New York the overwhelming power of scale and the efficiency of the grid system. In Venice and Rome the importance of public space and from the Norwegian cities of Oslo, Bergen and Trondheim the understanding of a social democratic model that results in a strong community with an unwavering loyalty and optimistic belief. I have worked with architecture and urban design practices each time learning new things be it computer software or the soft skills of management. I have also worked closely with the American composer/artist/architect Christopher Janney installing his interactive Sonic Forest Installation throughout the UK which has given me invaluable logistical and practical hands-on experience. P R O F I L E I am an open minded individual who believes in idea sharing and collaboration and I have a positive outlook on life with varying interests outside of architecture and design. My architecture projects are driven by the desire to instil memory of place through the use of material and space to create atmosphere and experience. I adopt a philosophical and conceptual approach, underpinned by strong contextual ideas and explore the technological aspects of a project from a craft viewpoint. My interest in craft has led me to explore neon light workshops and casting in a wide range of materials including wax, plaster and bronze. I have a profound interest in architecture and a passion for design, and strongly believe that good design can enhance the places where we live, work and play. I am inspired by the arts in particular the paintings of Barnett Newman and the sculptures of Alberto Giacometti. Through a process of exploration, making and just looking I continually question why, what and how can we design to protect and enhance social and cultural experience. I N T E R E S T S

I admire and aspire to the site specific, contextual and innovative architecture of Japan and Scandinavia. The work and philosophies of Alvar Aalto, Carlo Scarpa, John Pawson and Steven Holl particularly interest me due to the way they approach the fundamental problems of space, proportion, light, and materials, rather than stylistic mannerisms. Outside of architecture and design my interests include, art, sport, music, fashion, film, gardening and cooking. Calisthenics, hiking, Bodyboarding and riding keeps me active. I like drinking herbal tea, cross country skiing and Norwegian brown cheese.
