P R O F I L E

I am an open minded individual who believes in idea sharing and collaboration. I have a positive outlook on life with a profound interest in architecture and design and varying interests outside of these disciplines. My design propositions characteristically stem from a philosophical and challenging position. I adapt a strong conceptual approach, and explore the technological aspects of a project from a craft viewpoint. My architecture projects are driven by the needs of the end user and by the materials used to create atmosphere and experience. An avid interest in construction methods and the craft of making has resulted in a strong interest in how materials work together to make architecture. I am passionate about projects in the public realm that address social issues and projects that engage and consider the impact they have on society. I look for inspiration in all fields not only creative ones, continually challenging the norm, questioning why? and what if? with a strong desire to design to enhance social and cultural experience. I believe architecture is democratic and that design and architecture processes can be applied across many disciplines. I am a motivated, conscientious and enthusiastic creative in the artistic sense, because I share a way of thinking about things differently. My ambition is to succeed at the highest level and this is demonstrated by excellent design work and written theses. I am a truly collaborative team member, providing support willingly to others, and I respond well to advice. I explore the process of design through making, via physical model making, animated short films and intriguing installations. I am a diligent, capable and extremely personable individual and an asset to the teams I work with. I N T E R E S T S

I love the site specific and innovative architecture of Japan and Scandinavia and the work and philosophies of Alvar Aalto, Carlo Scarpa, John Pawson and Steven Holl. Outside of architecture and design my interests include, art, sport, music, fashion, film, gardening and cooking. Walking, Bodyboarding and riding my BMX keeps me active. I like drinking herbal tea, cross country skiing and Norwegian brown cheese. E X P E R I E N C E

To widen my understanding of architecture and design I have travelled to Paris, New York, Venice, Rome and most recently the Norwegian cities of Oslo, Bergen and Trondheim. I have worked with a number of architecture and urban design practices. I have also worked closely with the American composer/artist/architect Christopher Janney installing his interactive Sonic Forest Installation at locations throughout the UK.
