Beneficiaries’ Guide to Online Registration Health Net Federal Services, LLC (HNFS), the managed care support contractor for the TRICARE West Region, provides a secure online portal and easy-to-use online tools that allow beneficiaries to conduct a number of TRICARE transactions safely and securely at www.tricare-west.com. Once registered online, beneficiaries can access important health care information from HNFS through the Secure Portal on the TRICARE West website.

Why register? It’s important to register online. Accessing our secure online tools will let you make enrollment payments, check TRICARE eligibility, change a network provider, and more, with just a few key strokes. Additionally, in the past, TRICARE West beneficiaries have had the option of receiving all processed claim and authorization notifications via postal mail. TRICARE West beneficiaries must now register at www.tricare-west. com to view authorizations, referrals and individual Explanation of Benefits statements. These documents will no longer be delivered by postal mail. Instead, HNFS posts referral and authorization notices electronically to the beneficiary’s Secure Inbox where they can be viewed and/or printed online. Individual EOBs can be viewed and printed by accessing the View Summary TEOB option (TRICARE EOB) on the Secure Portal.

Step 1: Registration To access TRICARE West’s secure beneficiary portal, you must first register at www.tricare-west.com. Click on Secure Login on the home page or use the Log In/Register link at the top of any page of the beneficiary portal to access the Secure Portal. The fastest way to log in is with your Department of Defense Self-Service Logon (DS logon). Beneficiaries without a DS logon can register for a beneficiary account by clicking on Register, Start Registration. Registration takes less than five minutes and provides the quickest, most efficient way to receive HNFS communications. Once you’ve logged in, you’ll be asked to fill out some basic registration information before you can create your account. Information required includes the sponsor’s branch of service, retirement status, and, if registering a dependent, the name and/or relationship of the member to the sponsor.

Step 2: Creating your account To create your account, complete the information on the Beneficiary Registration: Create Account screen. Once completed, you’ll create a user name and password, and select a password question for future verification purposes. Click “next” to access the summary screen. Once you’ve clicked “Confirm” on the summary screen, you’ll be asked to log in to complete your registration. After you’ve logged in, you’ll receive a notice that you have 60 days before your password expires. Close the window to access the Secure Tools toolbox.

Secure Tools Using online tools available in the Secure Tools box, beneficiaries can access important TRICARE health care information safely and securely, anytime they need it.

It’s a good idea to start by clicking on My Account in the Secure Tools box. There, beneficiaries can quickly and easily verify and/ or update contact information, add dependents, manage preferences, grant or modify permissions, or change their password.

Once registered, it is highly recommended that beneficiaries use the Manage Preferences tool in the My Account box to select how they’d like to receive communications sent by HNFS (email, postal mail or text). Not all delivery options are available for all categories. Text and email alerts are highly recommended due to the time-sensitive nature of authorizations and referrals. Check the box or boxes to the right of each category on the Manage Preferences screen to indicate your preferred delivery option(s). If there is no box under a specific delivery option, that option is not available.

There are a number of other TRICARE transactions beneficiaries can perform quickly and conveniently using the Secure Tools available online at www.tricare-west.com: • Need to view your TRICARE Explanation of Benefits for a finalized claim, or to find out where you stand on an existing one? Click on Check Claim Status. • Looking for authorization details or to change from one network provider to another? Use the Check Authorization Status tool. • Waiting for an authorization or referral determination letter? While no longer delivered by postal mail, electronic versions of these documents are automatically sent to your Secure Inbox where you can view, download and/or print them after you’ve logged in. • View eligibility status, deductibles and catastrophic cap by clicking on Check TRICARE Eligibility. • Make Enrollment Payment lets you pay enrollment fees for you and your family members online. Along with HNFS’ suite of Secure Tools that require registration, we also offer a variety of Public Tools that do not require log in or registration that include a network provider directory, a military hospital locator, and more.
