“The abruptness with which this subject is introduced suggests that the report has just reached Paul's ears”. 1 “In this passage Paul is dealing with what, for him, was an ever recurring problem. In sexual matters the heathen did not know the meaning of chastity. The heathen took their pleasure when they wanted it and where they wanted it. It was so difficult to unlearn the practices which generations of loose-living had made part of their lives; and yet if the Church was to be kept pure they must say a final good-bye to the old heathen ways. “2 “In this chapter, Paul began his discussion of morality which he continued through chapter six.
