HOST VENUE Loughborough University Loughborough University is one of the top research-led universities in the UK with more than 19,400 students from over 135 different countries. Its main campus in Loughborough (East Midlands) is one of the largest singlecampus in the UK and has been singled out with a Green Flag Award as one of the nation’s best green spaces. The university also has an extraordinary postgraduate campus set in the heart of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London. Loughborough University is consistently in the top 7 in every UK university league table and top in its region. In 2019, it was named University of the Year by The Times. The QS World University Subject Rankings has named Loughborough the best university in the world for sportrelated subjects for five consecutive years. Over 100 students, alumni, and Loughborough-associated athletes travelled to Tokyo to compete in the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, winning 35 medals in total.

The results of the 2021 Research Excellence Framework (REF) published in May 2022 show that 91% of Loughborough University’s research is world-leading or internationally excellent. The results particularly underline the wide-ranging positive impacts that Loughborough’s research has on the world and the outstanding performance of our researchers in the field of the Built Environment, led by the School of Architecture, Building and Civil Engineering.
