ILM Award in Coaching

Level 3

What is the ILM Award in Coaching? Coaching, used properly, is a highly effective way of helping individuals and teams to develop their performance to a very high standard. This accredited programme is based on interactive workshops that will help you develop and improve your coaching skills.

What level qualification is the Award? In terms of national qualifications framework (QCF) ILM Level 3 is equivalent to A Level.

Who is the programme for? The ILM Level 3 Award in Coaching is aimed at any team leaders, managers and aspiring managers who want to develop practical coaching skills, whilst gaining a qualification at the same time.

How is it delivered? The programme consists of 3 full days and 1 half day workshops, plus 6 hours of coaching with associated reflective coaching diary. Programme units include: n Understanding good practice in

workplace coaching In this unit we’ll look at the roles and responsibilities, characteristics and behaviours of a workplace coach. You will also learn how to plan and organise workplace coaching sessions.

n Reflecting on workplace coaching skills

This unit enables you to learn how to reflect and review your coaching performance and make improvements where necessary. n Undertaking coaching in the workplace

You will undertake coaching in the workplace. Then you will monitor and review your own workplace coaching performance. This unit will give you the skills to do this.

Assessment Info You will be asked to keep a ‘coaching diary’ to chart your development in coaching skills, this diary will then be assessed. You will also need to complete assignments as part of the qualification.

Register on a briefing session In order to attend any of the ILM (Institute of Leadership and Management) programmes it is essential that you first attend a briefing session. The briefing session allows you to learn more about the content of the programme, the level of commitment involved and also the standard of work you will need to achieve in order to gain the qualification.
