Student support

The services available to students are extensive – whether you’re feeling homesick, worried about finances, have ongoing mental health issues or a disability, we can guide you towards the most appropriate type of support. Based in the heart of campus, our student support services are easily accessible on foot, or via a simple phone call. Take a look at some of what is offered in this section.

Mental health support We assess educational support needs arising from mental health difficulties and provide practical support to enable students to cope with these difficulties.

Disability support Providing information, advice and support for disabled students. We work closely with teaching and learning colleagues to ensure appropriate adjustments and support are in place, allowing disabled students to reach their full academic potential.

Student advice and support Free professional advice service for all students covering financial and money matters, housing and contract issues and more. Tailored support is also available for international students, including advice on immigration and police registration.

Counselling Loughborough has an experienced team of counsellors who offer students an opportunity to talk with a professionally trained person who is outside of their immediate situation.

English language support A range of support is available to UK, EU and international students regarding academic English and study skills. This includes a variety of workshops and self-access study materials.

Wellbeing advice Wellbeing advisors are based in every school/department and can provide one-to-one advice and support on any issues that affect student wellbeing.

Hall wardens and campus security Every hall of residence has its own hall warden system, providing pastoral and welfare support to students living away from home. Our campus also has a security team who are on duty 24 hours a day across the year and can assist with a variety of matters.

University chaplaincy We provide help with spiritual, ethical and moral concerns with dedicated spaces in which to pray, meditate or meet others. Chaplains are available to support students irrespective of religious or spiritual beliefs.

IT Services IT Services provide a wide range of IT and communication facilities to students, including Microsoft Office 365 which delivers a range of cloud-based services (including a free copy of Microsoft Office).

Students have unlimited data storage with OneDrive for business, access to over 2,000 computers on campus plus free specialist software, ability to print from personal computers to campus printers, online teaching facilities and recorded lectures.
