Imaging Department’s Christmas Project

DECEMBER 24, 2014

“Christmas is a season for kindling the fire for hospitality in the hall, the genial flame of charity in the heart.” - Washington Irving

Cardiac Rehab’s Christmas Project Pictured below are items delivered to Blue Star Mothers for the troops overseas. All these items were donated from the Cardiac Rehab Department, many of which were donated from the cardiac rehab patients themselves. The donated items turned in were requested by the troops and included toothbrushes, bar soaps, snacks, gum, hot sauce and all sorts of stuff, literally hundreds of items. Even donations of cash for shipping costs were given to the Blue Star Mothers organization.

The Mercy Medical Center Imaging Department performed an act of humankindness this holiday season by collecting goods and money for a local family. Patty Brown led the organizing, and the entire department rose to the occasion by donating numerous presents including clothing, household goods, and food items, as well as a significant amount of money and gift cards to a family in order to make their Christmas a happier one. Frank Mejia and I had the privilege of delivering all of it to the family. The family was extremely appreciative and I will not forget the look on the face of the older son (about 5 yrs old) once he realized all of the presents we brought into the house were for them. It was a moving experience for me.

From the 2014 Open Forums Will we have access to company-sponsored health insurance after we retire? As with most companies, Dignity Health offers its employee benefits to people while they are employed. So the answer here is generally no, you will not have access to your employee health benefits after you are no longer working for Dignity Health. However, there are a small number of individuals in specific groups who may be eligible for COBRA coverage or who qualify for a special, onetime retiree health reimbursement account. To find out if you do or might qualify, talk to our Benefits Service Center representatives about your specific situation.
