Answer to the Last Rhythm:

Atrial Flutter (rhythm for 4/17) In theory, an area in the atrium initiates an impulse that is conducted in a repetitive pattern creating a series of sawtooth shaped atrial waves.

Rate: Atrial rate is usually 250 – 350 bpm. The ventricular rate depends on the ratio of impulses conducted through to the ventricles.

P wave: When the atria flutter, they produce a series of well defined P waves which have a sawtooth appearance.

PRI: Due to the proximity of the wave to the QRS complex, it is usually impossible to determine a PRI with this arrhythmia.

QRS: The complex measures less than 0.12 sec.
