EMPLOYEE SURVEY JUNE 9 - JUNE 27

One of the most important aspects of making our hospital a great place to work and taking care of our patients is to receive input from our employees. We have been receiving input through our daily rounding, huddles, department meetings, our recent Town Hall meeting with Lloyd Dean and other methods. You have asked many good questions and we have answered some of them directly with the departments involved. But, perhaps the other most important aspect of this endeavor is to get back to you, the employee, with answers to your questions. We take this very seriously. We have collected all of your questions and have been compiling them and placing similar questions into like categories. There are some things you have brought to our attention that we can accomplish immediately and others that may take longer or that we are unable to do. We intend to give you straight answers. One of the best means of feedback for employees to give to Administration and the Corporation is through the upcoming EMPLOYEE SURVEY, WHICH WILL BE HELD FROM JUNE 9 THROUGH JUNE 27. The survey is conducted by an outside vendor and all information returned to Dignity Health is anonymous. We will communicate the results of this survey to you and incorporate them into the future planning of the corporation and the hospital. With your input, we can improve the mission of the hospital. Stay tuned for more information.

The California State Primary Election is Fast Approaching Are you registered to vote?

Don’t Let Allergies Make You Miserable Watery eyes, itchiness, runny nose. Sound familiar? If it does, you might have allergies. If you think you have an allergy, tell your doctor. There are different ways to test for allergies. The best way to reduce your symptoms is to avoid the things that cause your allergies. Here are some things to watch: •

Windows: Keep them closed and use air conditioning if you’re allergic to pollen.

Temperature: Keep the temperature in your home at 70° and the humidity under 50% to prevent mold and dust mites.

Bed and bedding: Wash your sheets, pillowcases and blankets at least once a week in hot water. Use covers for pillows, mattresses and box springs to guard against dust mites.

Floors: Hardwood or linoleum floors are best. Make sure any rugs are washable to help control dust and mold. Vacuum at least once a week.

Smoking: Don’t let anyone smoke in your home. Avoid cigarette smoke when you go out.

Cleaning: Wear a painter’s mask when you vacuum, clean, or work outside.

Food: Always check the labels of what you eat and drink.

Medicines: Avoid drugs that you are allergic to and even drugs that are similar to those that cause a reaction. Consider wearing a medical alert bracelet.
