CELEBRATING 25 YEARS OF HAMPSHIRE FARE

EVENT TIMINGS AND INFORMATION Andy Mackenzie – Lainston House 10.15am – 11.00am Andy began working at Lainston House Hotel in 1986. In 2006, he became the Executive Chef which allows him more time to go out and meet local food producers.

Philip Quinn – Aramark, Sparsholt College 11.15am – 11.45am Philip first started working for Aramark as a Commis Chef. In 2010, he joined the London 2012 Olympic Culinary Team, before rejoining the Aramark Development Team to manage regional training, development, food development, mobilisation and special event support in the West of England.

Mark Price – River Cottage Canteen 12.00pm – 12.30pm Mark is Head Chef at the River Cottage Canteen in Winchester. He is passionate about meeting local producers and hearing their stories.

Will Perkins – Hattingley Valley Winemakers 1.00pm – 1.30pm Will spent most of his school days helping out at Hattingley Valley before going to South Africa to study and work as a Wine Tasting Co-Ordinator. Now back at Hattingley Valley, Will has been working as a winemaker while studying Viticulture and Oenology.

This year, we‘re celebrating 25 years of Hampshire Fare with the region’s finest food and drink. Enjoy a range of tasty treats from local producers and get some great tips from Hampshire’s top chefs in the following kitchen demos.

Luke Holder – Lime Wood 1.45pm – 2.15pm Head Chef Luke Holder has a wealth of culinary influences and experience. He joined Lime Wood in 2010, and currently heads up the team responsible not only for The Dining Room, but also The Scullery and Raw & Cured; a new health bar concept at the new and luxurious Herb House Spa.

Luke Matthews – Chewton Glen 2.30pm – 3.00pm Luke started his career as an apprentice before setting off on his travels to learn about cuisine. He has been at Chewton Glen since 1993, taking on his current role of Executive Head Chef in 2003.

James Golding – The Pig 3.15pm – 4.00pm James is the Chef Director at The Pig Hotel Group. He has previously worked in both London and New York, but being Hampshire born and bred, he is very enthusiastic about using local producers and is keen to raise awareness of the importance of shopping locally.

Public Health Message

If you need to find out anything about today, make your way to our information points marked with on the map.

Please wash your hands after touching animals and particularly before eating and drinking. Antibacterial gel and hand washing facilities are provided at various points around the site.

They can be found in the main campus by the pony rides and in Garstons Farm by the main entrance. Information about our courses can be found in each departmental area, but if you have specific queries our admissions team are based in Garstons Farm all day.

Please adhere to our policy of NO SMOKING around animal enclosures and areas. When you get home we strongly advise that you wash your hands with warm water and soap after removing your outdoor clothing and footwear.

Photography Please be aware that Sparsholt College has commissioned photographs to be taken at this event for use in future college publicity material. They could be used on the website, social media, prospectuses, future event promotion leaflets, circulated to the media and in presentations. If you do not wish to appear in such images please stand away from the camera view – photographers working on behalf of Sparsholt College will be accompanied by a member of Sparsholt staff. Sparsholt College cannot be held responsible for any other photographs taken on the day by other third parties (such as the media).

Dogs and Guide Dogs Dogs are not permitted on site, with the exception of guide, hearing and other assistance dogs.

Parental Responsibility We have taken every precaution to ensure a safe environment today, but please be aware that this is a working college and farm and parents/guardians must be responsible for the children in their parties.


First Aid

Transport

First aid is located in Garstons Corner as indicated on the map. If you require medical assistance today and are unable to get to the first aid, please contact a member of staff who will be able to assist you. Sparsholt staff members with a GREEN staff lanyard on are also registered first aiders.

There are tractors and trailers available to take members of public from Garstons Farm to the lake area. There are also tractor and trailers to take people from Garstons Corner to the main arena field. We recommend that visitors start at the top of campus by the sports centre to experience as much as possible during the day. Around the site there are golf buggies to take visitors who are less able to the lake, the sports centre, the aquatics centre and throughout the car park.

Keeping your children safe A mobile number on a wristband is the simplest and quickest way to help a lost child. On entering Countryside Day a wristband can be collected from the information points shown on the map. Lost children/people should make their way to the information points and make themselves known to a member of staff. If you lose someone on site today, please also make your way to an information point so a member of staff can help you. Please call 07545 422484 for a member of staff.

Lost and Found If you lose any items today, head to one of our information points to report it to a member of staff. As many items are handed in after the day, please leave a description of your item and a contact number with a member of staff in the information tent so we can contact you if it is handed in.

PLEASE NOTE these are for visitors who require additional assistance when moving around the campus. There is also a transport service for disabled visitors which has a wheelchair tail lift; to use this service please call 07759 785630.
