Careers Events Sparsholt DESTINATION FAIR Inthemiddleofastormandtorrentialrain,over600 SparsholtstudentsattendedtheCollege’sfirst DestinationFair.Thefairwasattendedbyover40 employerswhoworkedwithinarangeofLandBased industries.Allemployerswerekeentomeetstudents whowerelookingforpart-timeandcasual employmentorasteppingstonetotheirfuturecareers oncompletionoftheirCollegecourse Employers commentedontheenthusiasmandprofessionalismof thestudentsthattheymet,andtheirabilitytodiscuss presentpoliticalissuesaroundtheirsectors.Students werekeentotalktoemployersabouttheskillsthey haddevelopedduringtheircourseandhowtheycould usetheirnewfoundexpertisewithintheirchosen careerpathway.
Aswellasemployers,the eventwasalsoattended by15universities,who wereabletodiscuss progressionintoHE, studentfinanceand preparationforfurther study University representativescame fromalloverthe country.TheUniversity ofCumbriaalsooffereda talktostudents interestedindegreesin forestry.
Theeventallowedstudentstobeintroducedtonewcareer technologies,suchas360degreestoursofworkplaces, severalstudentsfoundthemselvesvirtuallybalancedontop ofawindturbine,inA&Eoronaconstructionsite,all achievedthroughVR.
Throughouttheday studentswereencouraged toparticipateinahobby horseshowjumping competition,wherethey couldwin£250ofclothing andequipment.Aftera heatedcompetition betweenmanystudentsthe voucherswerewonbyAva, aLevel2Equinestudent withanimpressivetimeof 6.7seconds.
Atthestartofthetermequinestudentswereinvolvedinan intenseweekofemployerengagementevents.During ‘Demo Week’,allequinestudentshadthe opportunitytobuild industrylinksandengagewithequineprofessionals! ��
