MARK SAINSBURY Managing Director

A LITTLE BIT

ABOUT US

We are part of Local World, one of the largest regional media networks in the UK. DCMedia is the largest media company across Devon and Cornwall. We serve our communities through a variety of print and digital mediums. These include 9 long-standing newspaper titles, 3 magazines and 9 websites, plus many more niche print and digital platforms. The insight we put at our clients’ disposal to target both print and digital audience is transforming the local media landscape.

OUR PURPOSE Creating first class news content for local communities, and providing innovative marketing solutions for clients.

OUR CULTURE A fun and thriving atmosphere is what we like to create, with a real grasp on hard work. A place people enjoy working in!

OUR VISION Becoming the one-stop-shop for local news and marketing communications.

01

CREATING CONTENT

IMPORTANT TO YOU Creating a multi-channel business in print, online, and on mobile has always been fundamental to our business strategy. Our aim is to bring you the latest Westcountry news, promotions, and competitions via one of our publications or online platforms. We want to work in partnership with you, the consumer, local communities, and local businesses to form content you can engage with.

Central to our strategy is the continuous development of our print portfolio throughout 2015. Our newspapers will be benefiting from redesigns, marketing campaigns, and improvements to our content process. We are seeing a changing consumer, one driven by instant content. As a result we are changing our relationship with you to one of dynamism and immediacy.

OUR NEWS OPERATION A changing consumer has meant we have adapted how we gather content. We have moved our news operation to one of non-role-specific content generation and delivery. Our editorial teams harvest, write, curate, publish, post, photograph, edit, and build content. Our ultimate goal is to create a single integrated newsroom, utilising an all-encompassing menu of valuable content, generated by our journalists and contributors across Devon and Cornwall.

02

TEAMWORK

MAKES THE DREAM WORK We’re only as good as the people we employ. That’s why we believe it’s vitally important that the atmosphere we create at DCMedia is fun, thriving and with a real grasp on hard work. We strive to maintain an open culture where everyone is a hands-on contributor and feels comfortable sharing ideas and opinions. Without teamwork the dream won’t work at DCMedia. Our core purpose is about creating first class content for local communities and providing innovative solutions for advertisers, but actually it’s a little bit more human than that. We believe that life is local, and by celebrating and giving voice to local people, enriching lives and inspiring vibrant community spirit, we ultimately will be making local matter more.

“We recruit smart and determined people, favouring ability over experience. We seek people who have a lust for local life, and desire to help their communities work better.”

MICHELLE PUGH

Devon Weeklies Publisher

“It’s the editors, journalists, sales staff, marketeers, administrators, that make our business work. If it weren’t for them… well we wouldn’t have a business.”

Regional Marketing Director
