New-home registrations at a high THE NHBC has just reported that Bristol is in the top four UK cities for new-home registrations in the first quarter of the year. Devonshire Homes is seeing that strength reflected further south in the Mid Devon market. Jane Pearce, sales manager at Devonshire Homes, says this reflects the growth in new homes seen in late 2013. “The demand from both homebuyers and investors in the region is still strong, indicating that the demand for more new homes remains. “There is no doubt that Help to Buy has had a positive impact on demand for new homes, and it has contributed to more than 1,500 new-build completions in the region. It is certainly great news for those hoping to get on the housing ladder that it will be extended until 2020. “Help To Buy has helped phase 1 of our Gilbert Scott Way in Tiverton (pictured right) sell out and we have released new homes in phase 2. Half of the homes on the first phase sold off-plan, before they were even built, as did the final seven homes in our Rumsam Meadows development in Barnstaple – and this trend is also being seen at our Ginkgo Court development in Tiverton. “It’s a case of the ‘early bird catches the worm’ and general comment in the press about house price inflation may be fuelling that urgency.
