Here is a success story of our young and vibrate customer from Petauke District in Eastern Province: Davison Mbewe, aged 20, of Chikalaba Village, is determined to empower himself through broiler business, with the guidance of Tiger Animal Feeds.

Davison was advised to use Classic Broiler Feed, which is specially designed for farmers who produce broilers between five to six weeks of age for the live market. The rations in this range include a coccidiostat and a growth promoter, but no animal by-products or hormones.
In June 2020, Davison visited the Tiger Animal Feeds Petauke Depot to acquire more knowledge on broiler management, and bought 100 broiler chicks. Regardless of a poor pen structure, he was determined to face the challenges of poultry farming.
Classic Broiler Feed is divided into three different rations, for the three critical growth stages, which Davison followed very strictly: • Classic Broiler Starter Crumbles Feed from day old to 18 days of age. The approximate feed consumption is 800 g per bird. Crumbles are fed for faster growth and better feed conversion. • Classic Broiler Grower Pellets - The Grower ration should be fed to broilers from 19 to 28 days of age. The approximate feed consumption should be 1,2 kg per bird. • Classic Broiler Finisher Pellet – The Finisher ration should be fed from 29 to 42 days. The approximate feed consumption should be 1,4 kg per bird for the period.

Through the technical training offered by Tiger Animal Feeds, Davison was able to grow broilers successfully. His end mortality rate was at 2%, and final weights were 2,4 kgs at 6 weeks of age. He used dry leaves as litter, which worked very well. Despite the challenges he had faced, Davison dedicated his efforts and resources to produce quality broilers for the market. As of December 2020, Davison increased his broiler placement from 100 to 250 chicks. His vision is to increase his broiler production to 2 000, where he will be able to supply to chain stores and restaurants.
