At Andre Kikoski I was able to keep improving the skills that I had learned at S&A. I now feel much more confident in managing structure, design, and building regulations and bringing it all together to form the final building. Andre kikoski has large projects in the Hamptons as well as private apartments in Manhattan and a few projects in California. Being able to design with larger budgets was a change and allows for much more design freedom than I have worked with before. Its a small firm so I was very involved in the whole process.

1HAMPTONS This is an existing beach-houseproject in the Hamptons that I have been working on for the last 10 months. Since it is a summer home the idea was to keep as much of the original house as possible while opening it up to the beach. There are 11 bedrooms and 12 bathrooms, plus a pool house. The house has many amenities on the ground floor such as a gym, movie theater, laundry, yoga room and workshop. The ground floor is clad in stone so that it feels like the building blends with the sand dunes. The canopy suspended over the Foyer entrance has integrated planting beds that match the natural vegetation. (Full Construction Set available upon request) Budget: $12,000,0000 Bidding: $11,000,000 Stage: Construction Document and construction to start in 20201

2SUKIYAKI Sukiyaki is a restaurant chain in LA with plans to open new restaurants in Echo Park, Manhattan Village and Traction. We designed the flagship and developed the design starndards that would be applied to any future restaurants. It’s designed as a “kit of parts” which should be applied to each new space- 1. the bar which is a black charred wood with honeycomb tiles 2. The red banquettes with a flowing kaynemaile chain above. 4. the semi-circular bar with hanging lights above 5. THe cork floor pattern. 6. Graffiti art from local LA artists. Since Sukiyaki is a Japanese Hot Pot style food it was important to infuse it with some japanese character while also keeping it fresh for LA.

3CAMDEN This project in Hillcrest, San Diego is located on a site overlooking the Pacific Ocean and the canyons of Mission Valley. The idea was a contemporary take on the Mission Style with large arches, inset balconies and pitched roofs. There are 132 apartments and a variety of amenity spaces including a lounge, cafĂŠ, fitness center and multiple lobbies. The interiors have a laidback Californian vibe and feature walnut herringbone floors, dark beams and wrought iron screens. The fireplace divides the cafĂŠ from the lounge and is the focus of the lounge- it is clad in bespoke cement tile in hues of green, blue and black. Budget: Stage: Construction

4UPPERWEST Apartment renovation on the 25th floor of a building on the Upper West side. It has a a gorgeous view of the Hudson river. Since the view is really the main attraction the deisgn of the apartment is very mnimal and simple. The client is a perfectionest and so the whoel living room is set fmor the middle of the fireplace. This was my first project at Andre Kikoski and due to the high level expectation of Manhattan real estate it was a great learning experience to take this project from CD and through CA until it was put on hold by Covid. SMITH & NEWTON LONDON
Projects 1QBIC 2Victoria 3Hackney 4Hamsptead 5Chancery 6Cromwell
At Smith & Newton I focused on learning how the process of architecture comes together from Riba stages 0-5. I learned a lot about how structure, design, and building regulations come together to form a final product. It was a small firm so I got involved in about 50 projects through out two years. However, the ones I worked on more consistently were various small home extensions (0-5), a few residential schemes (0-2), an office lobby renovation (0-5) and a hotel renovation(0-5). The expertise I brought to the studio was producing fast high quality visuals and creative design solutions.

1CHANCERY Interior Lobby Renovation in South London with the addition of a new disabled toilet, storage room, entrance, and custom front desk. The concept was to clad the room in pale timber slats and then bring the vinyl flooring up a certain datum, giving the effect of the floor extending along the edge of the room. The tones are wood, grey, and white which allows color to be brought in through the fabrics of the furniture. Currently in construction, will finish February 2019. 2VICTORIA Residential development in an old wearhouse near trendy Victoria Park. The idea was to be able to maximize the space while being respectful to the character of the existing building. The site is an old weardhouse wedged in between lots of existing victorian buildings so the proposal consists of gutting the building and creating an interior courtyard, which provides a better quality of life, especially for the basement apartments. The additions are: a one bedroom extension on the GF, two basement courtyards and a loft dormer. Budget: Stage: Planning Application

3HACKNEY Office/Restaurant/Commercial addition to an old industrial building in Hackney. Once again the character of the existing building had to be maintained while trying to maximize the light, hence an interior courtyard that serves as a break out space for the co-working spaces. We created a black timber box that slots down into the existing one, creating a second interior facade. The ground floor is a commercial/restaurant with a double height open space where while shopping one can see the office spaces above. Material is black painted timber fins and panels. We played with the openings to give the box some dynamism and the idea of movement. Budget: Stage: Planning Application

4QBIC QBIC is a trendy milleanial budget friendly hotel born in Amsterdam. It’s recently moved to the UK market and has a hotel in Whitechapel. They wanted to redevelop their restaurant/lobby/bathrooms/facade areas. We worked in conjunction with a interior designer to bring new life to the interiors while keeping the quirky features that it is known for. The idea for the facade was keeping it fun, interesting and instagrammable. Currently in the process of developing a rooftop pop-up concept. Budget: 500k Stage: Built

In my time at UDS I developed
knowledge and sensitivity to materials and overall interior development, that only an internationally active interior studio could provide. I have assisted from pitching, to design detailing, as well as submitting a project for planning application and following through construction. I have also developed useful skills in vectorworks.
1STUDIO Universal Design Studio bought a building next door and are currently expanding. I was assigned with the design, development, planning application, and overseeing construction. The Ground Floor will be two meeting rooms, First Floor will be studio space, Second Floor will be model making, Third Floor will be the directors studio. Ground Floor has also been used as a temporary London Design Festival space for MAP, UDS’s sister company. Construction finished in January 2018.

3WESTFIELD MALL
QIC requested UDS to renovate a mall in Australia. The job consisted of corridors, bathrooms, bespoke furniture stairs, and food court. I worked on all these parts but have include only the bespoke furniture since it was what I enjoyed designing the most. The idea was to create a module of different furniture pieces that could be configured in different ways through out the mall. The materials are colored lightweight concrete, leather and bronze.

My time in Japan taught me many lessons, one of them being to not be afraid to think outside the box, and also to produce many iterations for the same concept. My diagrams, conceptual thinking, renderings and illustrator skills were greatly improved. My patience and dedication to architecture were greatly tested with the 14 hour, 7 day, work days.

1CHIBBA Competition for a town hall in Chibba, the south of Japan, a city surrounded by mountains. The concept is to bring to life the surrounding mountains, through the flow of the white roof. The space doubles both as a town hall and a community center. It is largely transparent to help bring the outside-inside and to allow flexibility of use.
