Space is what fascinates me the most in architecture. I am interested in what happens between the walls, how people behave in, and react to space. Architecture, like music, cosists of elements, which combined in composition create tension, feelings, reaction. I am interested in stimulating spaces.

This house was designed for a theatrical director, who wants to take

his rehearsal or spectacles from theater to his home. The specificity of the project is a result of half-public character of the building. Interior arrangement and exterior form of the building are subordinated by the concept of the stage, directly inspired by the stage of the Theatre “ M o n t o w n i a ” in Warsaw, situated at the bottom of the swimming pool. The home scene is a hole in the ground floor with a depth of 45cm. Thanks to this decrease the ground level takes over the function of an auditorium. Those 45cm are sufficient length to make the place still available and adaptable easily. Interior arrangement creates possibility of free-form adaptation of the space and analyzing; single scenes in spectacles, in the shape of the view from bird’s eye.

Visitors are led to the second level by the rays of ‘ribbon’ light, spreading out from the front elevation to the staircase in the back of the building. The “ribbon” - openwork cover, is inspired by the curtain. Its task is to lead the guests to the following level of the auditorium, the higher floor, by play of the light and shadow. Other rooms, such as vestibule, corridor, cloakroom and kitchen are defined by neatly situated walls. Resembling a theatrical curtain figuratively, they cover and uncover the stage and outline directions for guests. Kitchen maintains the open character of the interior. Specificity of design of the second floor results from its half-public character. Space is divided into easily accessible and visually less accessible spheres not only by the walls, but also by the cover -

The task of the course was to design the museum of Nerone situated on Piazza Popolo in Rome. The life of Nerone I divided into four parts, shaped into four installation: childhood, custody, emperor and decline. Being inspired by Monika Sosnowska artworks I decided to reflect each period of his life by designing different interiors of each pavilion and remaining their outlook similar. Each quarter of the oval shaped piazza is occupied by another pavilion. The location of the pavilions provokes visitors to circular movement. The model demonstrates the period of the decline beginning with large entrance which constitutes the start of the gradually shrinking path. The little exit reflects unclear end of his life.

Each project had to cover the pavilion of students’ nationality, an auditorium and a garden. The masterplan of the site of the project - Porta Volta in Milan, was given.
Auditorium The facade of the auditorium and garden are adapted to the demands of the environment and according to the dense movement. They are both open to the road providing an open public space. The garden resembles the folding paper pushed from two opposite sites. It contains of scattered pieces of concrete panels , which crystallise at the end in the form of auditorium. The little slopes can be used as space for having a rest.

Polish Pavilion Polish pavilions is a modern interpretation of socialist architecture covered with reinforced concrete block of flats. The facade is created by the stripes connected in chaotic order. The openings results in a play of light and shadow. The staircase remains open and constitutes the guideline from the ground floor to the last floor containing multipurpose hall. This particular arrangement emphasizes the representative aspect of the place. The ground floor contains a reception and library, the first library with reading room, the second - offices. The class rooms are situated on the third level, the fourth floor covers multipurpose hall.

location: Poland, Poznań, Małe Garbary 52o 24’38.27” N, 16o56’08.61” E course: Design of workplaces - year IV 2010/2011 semester I academic work, individual tutor: Piotr Zierke: piotr_zierke@tlen.pl
The aim of the project is promoting the idea of urban agriculture. Farming in the city has ecological qualities, because of limited distance for distribution of the products. Urban agriculture is not only a production of healthy food but also it influences on the health of the citizens and their social relationships. Due to limited space in the city the urban greenhouse promote the vertical gardens and constitutes the creative place for workshops of high quality homemade food. There is a diffrent function on each floor: reception, kitchen with workplace, shop, little restaurant, there is a demo version of the roof garden on the last floor. The arrangement of green walls results in friendly microclimate of the interior. Thanks to it the greenhouse is not only a workplace, but also a recreational centre. It proves that the space has universal character. The vertical garden is surrounded by ramp, which is a path for the visitors, adjusted to disabled.

The form of the building is divided by 2 programmes. The daily part - primary school containing: communal hall, mediateque/ library, handicraft room, playroom, storage toys, directors room, janitors office, parents room, extra teaching spaces, multifunctional spaces and classrooms. The Multifunctional Centre is dedicated not only for students, thus it is more working models
active during the afternoon. It consists of theater, changing rooms, neigbourhood kitchen, cafe, extra rentable space, rooms for adult education, TOS(Thuis Op Straat, at home in the street a private Rotterdam organisation for children that lends out toys and playing material), and BSO (after school organisation - 9 to 6 accomodation for children of working parents). These two segments: school and multifunctional centre are connected with communal hall. During the process of design I was refering to the architect’s Herman Hertzberger approach in his design of student places: “The School as City”. His work has inspired me to treat the interior of the school as a street, and provide a lot of transparency connecting different levels.

The model shows intial idea of the classroom. My intention was to break the closed rectanguar typology of classroom and create a stimulating environment for student. For that reason, the initial plan of classroom has a shape of a honeycomb,
entrance from inside
in order to avoid the right angles and provide more dynamic composition.
From the classroom there is an open view
to outide and inside, as well. In this way both teachers and students have a control with what happens in their surrounding. In the final plan, the construction is based on the pararell walls, but the other elements such as: individual working space,
classrom
shelves, partition walls, suspended ceiling, give to the classroom sophisticated form. Due to the programme each classroom has to contain an individual working space.
individual working space
Since this is a small and
more intimate space in the assumption, I wanted to rise the level of this room to create more children scale in it. Stairs are connecting the classroom with individual
entrance from the playground
teaching space and then the classroom directly with playground. Not only the plan, but color play important role in stimulation of the interior environment. Blue color of the floor improves the concentration, while yellow in ceiling energizes students, according to psychological researches.

Living at the hub graduation project location: The Netherlands, Amstedam, Sloterdijk, Teleport O 52o 23’12.35” N, 4o50’12.07” E course: Dwelling & Architecture, - year II 2012/2013 semester I and II academic work, individual supervisor: Olv Klijn, info@fabrications.nl
The site of the project -Teleport O, is situated in strategic position for
site model
the whole Amsterdam: at the transport hub – Sloterdijk station, and in one of the “green fingers” of Amsterdam, reaching the city centre. The qualities of this location are not efficiently used. The “green finger” is interrupted with the office area. Another serious problem of the district is vacancy. The location does not have good conditions for dwelling, because of noise, mono-functionality and isolation. For these reasons, the challenges posed to the design are: incorporation of housing in mono-functional district and definition of the program with activities for the new coming dwellers, which will make the area pleasant to live. In this way, the Teleport can be potentially transformed from the mono-functional district into a new self-sufficient city centre, strongly related to whole Amsterdam town, located in its “green finger”, next to the Sloterdijk station.

The aim was to break the border between the public and private and provide more gradient between these spaces, and make the area liveable in a busy transportation hub. In this way, the dwellers reach their houses passing from the big public square in front of the station, through the smaller square, then the open collective, and the closed collective space in the atriums. Public and collective spaces work on different level of intimacy or openness. The process of blurring the border between the public and private make people feel belonging to the outdoor space.
47
The typology of atrium also helps in achieving the gradient between public and private. While a typology of block refers more to individualism, atrium has more a sense of community and sharing. The atrium balances the built and unbuilt, open and closed. It creates an extra additianal space improving wider social life among the dwellers. It provides shelter from noise, wind pollution and contact with nature. Additionally the garden in the atrium is equipped with a living machine system which plays a role in the process of cleaning the grey and rain water. In a result, the water can be reused as a nonportable water.

Space to culture competition by Young Architects Competitions location: Italy, Bologna, Quarto Inferiore 44o 31’45.62” N, 11o25’27.70” E collaboration: Barbara Wielebska, PL
The task of the competition was to refunctionalize a factory, situated at the suburbian area of Bologna, into a space for culture and leisure . New type of cultural centre should containing temporary accomodation, day care, restaurant, theater, sport facilities, workshop rooms, multi-purpose rooms, exhibition hall and so-called “art hotel”. In our design we have considered some existing references with a successful public space. Our project presents a cultural centre with a stimulating public spaces, encouraging people to meet and interact. In a result the new space for culture works as a catalyst for suburbian district in the former industrial park. The typology of the factory has encouraged us to create a plaza, a new centre in the suburbian, former industrial area of Bologna. We took advantage of the composition of the modern solids in order to create an urban interior.

Our intention was to combine modern characteristics of the building with traditional elements of italian piazza (like its typical urban floors) and create the atmosphere of Italian piazza for the new community of visitors. Some surfaces of the concrete walls are tiled or painted with sgrafitto imitating tiles. The transparent glass curtain walls and distinctive urban floor (the same both in and outside the building) connect exterior with interior resulting in a continuos cultural space. Thanks to a vivid plaza people can spend time actively and have a contact with art virtually 24h.

A new space for culture is a cultural centre perfectly adjusted for shortterm visitors (less than one day), and those who prefer to stay longer creating a community (artists who need appartments with worhshop spaces, children attending art camps, clients of art hotel, members of various festivals crews etc.) . Public and private spaces are thought to combine with each other in order to provoke interaction of artists and visitors. For instance the main exhibition hall is visually divided by a suspended bridge in the 1st level and art hotel in the 2nd level resulting in a navetype space where all kinds of visitors meet. view fromt the extrance to the exhibition hall

This is a project of a bag made from ventilating pipe. The form of the bag is a kind of joke, which is a result of using casual material for elegant purpose.

BK beats environment
location: The Netherlands, Delft , Faculty of Architecture course: BK Beats Environment collaboration with: Sko van Delft
BK beats is the biggest faculty festival in the Netherlands and is organized by a group of involved students from D.B.S.G. Stylos. For one night the historical building of the Faculty of Architecture changes into an amazing festival area and a fabulous experience is thereby guaranteed. The theme of BK beats 2012 is 4 miles of light, which is another name of Las Vegas, a sleepless city of entertainment. Our task was to design an instalation in corridor connecting different stages. We formed the LED lights in shape of arrows to emphasize the movement in the passage. People reacted to the instalation very enthusiastically. Thanks to it, the corridor not only was linking different stages, but also stimulated people to meet.
