My name is Isaac Indio and I want to be a Poet of great change.

What does "liberation" mean to you? What does it look like, sound like, feel like?

Liberation is the fight for freedom it’s the raging sea beating against asphalt beaches It’s the wind underneath birds wings defying gravity it’s the Earth swallowing whole cities of civilization it’s the birth of a child from their mother’s womb it’s the sun darkening my skin and the love I hope to give to all of you.

Is your creative practice one of liberation? How so? How does it feel to create?

My creative space is the total opposite of Liberation, it’s confinement, it’s shutting myself in with so much pain I can’t help but spill it out onto a page. Creative Liberation is when I can share my art because it’s been haunting me for some time eating me up.

How can art be a tool in the revolution?

I believe Art provides a way to escape the mundane routines we often go through in life, it brings forth change and new perspectives in a way that helps the viewers empathize with other human experiences. Art essentially is liberation to me, I feel liberated creating and consuming art.

Share a little bit about your creative process!

I hone in on my feelings and try to create an environment in which you can feel the anger, sadness, and happiness I’m trying my best to convey through this shared language
